Furuk - Fighter

"Only if the vines grab Ulster too. I'm staying away from them."

Furuk stands guard in case anything approaches them from the other direction.

Dandy snickers. "Aye, that'd be Grimes," he says. He waits to see if the druid can help.

The vines grab for Ulster but he is able to somehow sidestep their grasp. The hacks at those grabbing for Grimes but it seems a losing battle: for every one he hews another two take its place. monster attack [1d20] = 19 One of the vines slips tween mail and helm and begins choking the halfling! dmg [1d4] = 1

The third veggieguy dies trying to breathe. The metal golem beeps and whistles in sadness.

Castinus lunges forward, hacking at the vine creeping into Grimes' helmet, lower down, of course, so as not to further injure the halfling.

[1d20+1] = 18+1 = 19

Grimes - Halfling FIghter of little brain

Grimes growls in anger at the vines, if he's unable to draw his sword to hack at them, he'll bite at them like a wild halfling animal...

Algrim will attempt to help get Grimes freed from the vines. Guess hacking the vines with scimitar Setting his spear aside for a moment and closing in with his scimitar to hack away at the vines to help Grimes.

Scimitar +2, +3 versus giants [1d20+3] = 19+3 = 22 To Hit [1d8+2] = 4+2 = 6 Dmg

"Stop that!" urges Ulster. "Cutting the vines only makes more grow! You're making things worse."

Are all the veggiemen dead now? What about the veggiedog? I'm wondering if Ulster can cast an anti-plant shell without killing any friendlies. His other obvious option is to drink a potion of plant control, but I'd rather not use a non-replenishable resource unless necessary. Shame plant growth isn't reversible.

Indeed they are making things worse, and everyone other than the druid who wades in is immediately entangled by the strangle vines. Worse than kudzu, they are.

The veggiemen and veggie dog are no more. The dog apparently having wandered off without anyone noticing.

Ulster shakes his head and rolls his eyes. Some people just don't understand plants. With a sigh, he calls forth a sphere of repulsion and destruction to plants.

Cast anti-plant shell. Which I just know we're going to want later. Oh well.

It seems...
the entire party follows Ulster to rescue Grimes
and find themselves caught up in vines.
The druid sighs and casts his spell
a miraculous and stupendous Anti-Plant Shell.
The vines are pushed back a good twenty feet
perhaps one of the few ways the plants could be beat

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes sheepishly glances at the others and smiles. "Uh, thanks. I didn't see that coming. Just wanted to help the veggie guys out, you know what I mean?" He dusts himself off and follows the others.

OOC: Sorry, guys. Didn't see that going downhill quite so fast...

Algrim moves back out of the way and winks at Ulster "Thank yah nature man." The dwarf goes and grabs his spear where he left it.

The plants recede or wither and the service golem opens the door to the south.

The smell of the rainforest washes over you and your eyes are briefly dazzled, but then you see a vista unlike you've ever seen before. There is a 20' deep balcony opening over a veritable jungle which appears to circumnavigate the area below.

At the bends of the balcony, there are odd devices attached to the waist high barrier at the edge of the walkway. You see doors along the walkway, some closed and some open.

The service golem begins sweeping the dead vines and leaves off of the walkway to flutter below through a gap in the barrier near your feet. The whistling sound it makes as it works is somewhat soothing.

Ulster's eyes grow wide and he beams a huge smile. "Now this is more my kind of place!" he says. He peers intently at the jungle, trying to determine if any of the plants are familar, and if the self-contained ecosystem appears to be in a stable equilibrium. Then he looks to the ceiling for a sun. "Quite amazing, this. Many of the better palaces have fine gardens, of course, but few are this large, and nearly all have glass roofs. A jungle in a can, with no access to the sun? Wow."

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes stares, dumbfounded, at the spectacle. He just mumbles "wow." He glances at Ulster, then back at the jungle, silently waiting for some guidance on what's next.
