After the veggie men answer about what's below: "How do we get to the brown leader? And are there any traps on the way?"

The vegemite scratches his leafy topknot. Maybe in middle of brown area. Not our territory so unsure. Tell him from us, you eat fungus, leave meat alone. The other vegemites makes noises that you interpret as laughter.

He continues, Traps? Hmm. Metal things that are not us or meat sometimes fight us. They are all over areas not controlled by green-browns or just browns. Not sure if you consider that trap.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes rolls his eyes and says "Let's go. This is useless. Talking to salad." Then he pauses and says "Metal things? Men in armor? What's he talking about? Where do we find these metal things?"

OOC: Hmm... don't think they could help us much, BUT we could maybe stir the pot up a bit, try to set them against each other to thin the herd at bit. Did we kill a bunch of brown ones, or green? We could say we saw the brown guys just coming from down the hall, chopped up your buddies... not sure what it would net us, but the chaos might take some heat off of our fumbling around.

Just a thought.

Algrim whistles to himself in the hallway while watching for anything that might be coming to attack. Spear still in hand the dwarf watches both ways never knowing where something might come from.
More like talking to man eating plants.

Ja, very odd. Maybe we just keep moving along... strangely, I don't think these creates posses the intelligence to have built this place. Yet, here they are.

Nothing comes down the hall.

The veggie-dudes are looking at you questioningly. If you are done questioning the vegemites, where to now?

Castinus - Human Thief

Castinus considers the comment, "metal things that are not us or meat." You don't suppose they're talking about golems, or constructs, do you? Taking those things down would take serious work. He makes his way back into the hallway, as if an army of golems might suddenly materialize.

Brandon's idea of setting them against each other is an interesting one. While it might then the herd, or garden rather, it might also set us up for more danger. I say we say something noncommittal and then investigate the other side.
These are ghouls. They hang out in graveyards, they have long tongues, and they eat people.

Ulster sees himself more as a peacemaker than an instigator. But he also knows that competition prevents overpopulation. Perhaps battles between green and brown are what keep this fortress from being overrun by walking plants. A balance seems to have been achieved; Ulster will not upset it.

"Thank you for your help," he clicks at the plants.

"Let's see if we can find the browns while I can still talk to them," he tells the others in Common.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes follows the others, casting a weary eye rearward just in case the walking crabgrass boys come after us.

"An odd bunch, for sure. Although I'm curious as to the metal things that they spoke... uh... talked... uh, clicked.... gestured, oh whatever. You know what I mean."

Some of you are wearing metal armor, the plant critters do not seem bothered by it. What they speak is out of the ordinary, for sure.

The party backs away and heads north to the intersection, hoping to find the "just brown" vegemite creatures (or perhaps something else entirely).

Image

The hallways east and west from the intersection are dark, illuminated only by the strange, weak lights in the upper portions of the wall. The way north is better lit, as if the party will soon be moving into a lighted area if it continues that direction. That way ends in a T intersection and, near the juncture, the party spots a curious object.

A small, motionless object with strange limbs or growths sits in the centre of the hall.

Image
(dig if you will, the picture, of the thing sitting, not standing)

The curious object does not move.

Grimes - Fighter

Grimes raises a curious eyebrow at the object. "That's an odd set of armor if I ever saw one. Certainly roomy, I'd venture. Why would someone leave it here?"

Grimes sheaths his sword and brandishes Wave, waiting for the smart folks in the party to suggest what to do next.

Castinus looks curiously at the curious object. "Think it'd mind if I checked it for traps?" the thief jokes?

He'll move in for a close look.
