Algrim "Aye. North." is the only reply the dwarf gives as he moves north to the next door.

Dieter - Mage

Dieter shrugs at Ulster's comments: If you think speaking with the dog thing is useful, be my guest. Personally, I think it lacks the intelligence and long term memory to be too useful, but you never know.

To the north is fine... he will say moving with the others. You, come along. He will say to the doggy thing.

Castinus waits for the results of the dog parley.
These are ghouls. They hang out in graveyards, they have long tongues, and they eat people.

The next door north is opened, this one again requiring the black card.

The room beyond is a mess and it looks like five of the parsleymen and their pets (another five) are here. They turn to face you!

Grimes - Fighter

This time Grimes will stand back to see if we choose to Parley with Parsley, or if we'll square off with them. Perhaps having their pooch in our group will give them pause.
If they advance, Grimes will swap Wave with his long forgotten shortsword.

I just realized that Speak With Plants takes a full turn to cast. I don't think the veggie critters will wait that long, so the parley with parsley seems unlikely to happen.

Dieter will make sure the dog thing is visible to the vegemite clan and refrains from tossing some kind of death into the room for the moment. Maybe we try talking?

So are you going to try casting it?

Ulster tries to remember how plants think. He holds up a hand in what he hopes is the universal symbol for "peace." Then he holds up a finger, hoping the plant creatures will understand, "Please wait."

If by the grace of the Mother the plants actually refrain from attacking, he starts casting speak with plants.

reaction [2d6-1] = 5-1 = 4

The creatures pause when the druid holds up his hand. They then look at the thorndoggie and appear confused but do not attack.

A green glow seems to surround the druid's mouth as he speaks the words of the spell.

Castinus stands, bemused, waiting for Ulster's speak with plants spell to take effect. He smiles, trying to let his charisma work its charm, if such creatures are susceptible to human charisma.

Ulster folds his hands together then opens them in the sign of a blooming flower. "May your buds bloom bright and your leaves be ever green," he says as greeting. There's usually another part about roots growing deep, but Ulster isn't sure that wouldn't be insulting to plant creatures that walk. "We do not want to fight. Let us be friends, as moss is friend to fern. Will you speak with us?"

Furuk stays silent and observes how the plant creatures react to Ulster's words.

Algrim watches Ulster and the Plant people from the rear as Dieter loiters.

The creatures seem confused at first by Ulster's words. With their reply he discovers why.

The plant-creatures don't seem to have a language, nor particularly high intelligence. They reply using chest slaps, gestures, and grunts, which the druid interprets due to his dweomer. They say, essentially, You have dog with you so you must be friend to us. We have not seen you here before and you are strange to us. Who are you and what do you want? Did other tribe send you?

The DM assumes that the druid communicates this to the rest of the party (if that assumption is off, please let me know Zhym).
