Algrim walks over and looks at the note "Aint that our new group pet on there?"

Algrim looks at their own pet... ...and decides that it doesn't look quite like the one in the picture.
The party takes Dieter's advice and heads west.
The door opens easily to the black keycard.
Inside is another apartment, just as before. A skeleton lies on the floor. Beside him is an orange keycard.

We become the jailers extraordinaire, Algrim, no door will challenge us... if there is nothing else in this room maybe we check the door just to the north?

Algrim nods "Makes sense. Now to the north."

Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
The room to the north is also an apartment of sorts. Or was. There is nothing in here but a dusty bed and a pile of garbage in the corner.
The hallway to the north at the T intersection is dark. As in pitch black. Even the emergency lights are out. There is a deep, woody smell here, which Ulster thinks smells like peat and toadstools.

Ulster flares his nostrils at the smell of peat and toadstools. "I guess more plant creatures that way," he says.
"Anyone think to bring a light?" he asks.

Algrim takes his pack off digs out a torch then puts his pack back on "Yup got eight torches." the dwarf digs out his flint and steel from a pocket and lights the torch then hands it off to Ulster.

Castinus - human thief
I don't like the looks of this, he says, nodding in the direction of the pitch black corridor. He draws his sword, and prepares for an attack.

These are ghouls. They hang out in graveyards, they have long tongues, and they eat people.

Grimes - Surly Halfling Champion of Poseidon
Grimes nods at Castinus' words and says "Right as usual, Casty. Something bad is near here, I kin' feel it." He readies Wave and nods to the dark north passage and says "Shall we? Or somewhere else?"

Ulster holds up a hand. "Wait," he says, and tosses the lit torch into the intersection.

Re: Chapter 24 - The Expedition to the Barrier Peaks, part 1
The torch provides nice illumination into the hallway. There is actual dirt on the floor, in some places almost completely covering the floor. You hear movement from the open doorways you've spilled light into. Sounds like celery-dudes. The sound is coming from both ways down the hall.
A branch-like hand grips a doorjamb. They might be investigating.
Your "pet" growls some and his thorns stand up, like a cat ready for action.

Ulster waves to the others to back down the hall. He lays a length of rope across the hallway and straightens it out. It begins to hover a few inches off the floor.
Cast stumble
"As soon as they see us," he whispers, "run around the corner as if we're fleeing, then stop and wait for them to trip and fall. Then we can turn back on them."

Furuk- Fighter
Furuk waits to see the creatures and will run slowly down the hall in the other direction. He'll charge at them after the creatures reach the area.

"Aye, a solid plan," Dandy says. For his part he'll hurl Whelm at the creatures once the attack is underway.
