OOC chat
Re: OOC chat
Re: OOC chat
I once played a GURPs game where I was a radiation mage-type character. Now it was more like fire or ice or some other element (spells included See Radiation, Irradiate, Radiation jet, Cure Radiation) but it was interesting.GreyWolfVT wrote:Algrim shrugs at the question "Eh maybe radiation be some sort of magic?"
The concept, not the game. It wasn't so well run, alas.

Re: OOC chat
that concept is a bit too close to a lot of the games that have radiation as a super power.

If Ulster gets a chance to rest and-prepare anti-plant shell again, he could clear out a lot of the vegetation below.
I noticed that the LL AEC version of Insect Plague is much weaker than the 1e version.

I noticed that the LL AEC version of Insect Plague is much weaker than the 1e version.
AD&D 1e:
A 12th-level druid would cast a swarm that lasts two hours and does 120 HP damage to anything that doesn't leave.Range: 320'
AoE: 320' diameter, 40' high cloud
Duration: 1 turn/level
When this spell is cast by the cleric, a horde of creeping, hopping, and flying insects swarm in a thick cloud. These insects obscure vision, limiting it to 3". Creatures within the insect plague sustain 1 hit point of damage for each melee round they remain in it due to the bites and stings of the insects, regardless of armor class. The referee will cause all creatures with fewer than five hit dice to check morale. Creatures with two or fewer hit dice will automatically move at their fastest possible speed in a straight line in a random direction until they are not less than 24" distant from the cloud of insects. Creatures with fewer than five hit dice which fail their morale check will behave likewise. Heavy smoke will drive off insects within its bounds. Fire will also drive insects away; a wall of fire in a ring shape will keep the insect plague outside its confines, but a fire ball will simply clear insects from its blast area for 1 turn. Lightning and cold/ice act likewise. The plague lasts for 1 turn for each level of experience of the cleric casting the spell, and thereafter the insects disperse. The insects swarm in an area which centers around a summoning point determined by the spell caster, which point can be up to 36" distant from the cleric. The insect plague does not move thereafter for as long as it lasts. Note that the spell can be countered by casting a dispel magic upon the summoning point. A cube of force (a special magic item) would keep insects away from a character seeking the center of the swarm, but invisibility would afford no protection. The material components of this spell are a few grains of sugar, some kernels of grain, and a smear of fat.
The LL AEC version:
It clears creatures 2 HD or fewer out of an area, but has no effect on bigger creatures. It does no damage and has a smaller AoE, but it is mobile and lasts for a day.Duration: 1 day
Range: 480'
The caster summons a swarm of locusts in a 60Ê diameter. The swarm causes creatures occupying its area to flee if they are 2 HD or fewer. This spell does not function when cast underground. The caster can control the swarm to move 20' in a round. The caster must concentrate for the duration of the spell to maintain control over the swarm, and if the swarm leaves the range the caster loses control of them. The caster also loses control of them if he is successfully attacked.
Still, I'd much rather have the AD&D 1e version.

I apologize for lack of posting. I'm swamped by work right now and probably will be through at least Thursday. Please NPC Ulster as needed.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Nice! I’m a bigger TOS fan, but TNG rocked! Great scene.merias wrote:"There...are....four...lights!"
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Re: OOC chat
One of my favorite episodes, as well (or, two-part series as I recall). That show really hit its stride in later seasons.rredmond wrote:Nice! I’m a bigger TOS fan, but TNG rocked! Great scene.merias wrote:"There...are....four...lights!"
Re: OOC chat
That show had just one of the best series endings ever. Just well planned.
And the Borg and Klingon civil war shows are all soooo good.

Re: OOC chat
Greyarea, how do you handle druid shape shifting? My reading of LL AEC is that a druid can shift to any animal form (including fish, insects, invertebrates, whatever) three times per day as long as no specific form is repeated. So a druid could shift to an eagle, then a hawk, then a sparrow in one day. Is that your understanding as well?
I ask because AD&D 1e is more restrictive, allowing shifting into "a reptile, bird or mammal," with a limit of once per day for each "type" of creature.
