Bugger All round 3

Initiative players [1d6] = 3, baddies [1d6] = 4

Three bugbears surround Sean. Bugbear1 monster attack [1d20] = 11 misses. Bugbear5 monster attack [1d20] = 4 also misses. Bugbear6 monster attack [1d20] = 2 also misses. It's like the keystone kops.
Bugbear2 engages Bror monster attack [1d20] = 12 and misses.
Bugbear3 engages with Zef in the doorway monster attack [1d20] = 14 dmg [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
Bugbear4 engages with Tavin in the doorway monster attack [1d20] = 11 dmg [1d6+1] = 1+1 = 2
Bugbear7 throws another spear at Thurwin monster attack [1d20] = 11 dmg [1d6] = 6 and disrupts his spell!
Bugbear8 also throws a spear at Calthas monster attack [1d20] = 10 which misses.
Bugbear9 appears to be shouting orders. Bugbear10 chucks a spear at Calmert monster attack [1d20] = 2 which doesn't even make it into the pantry.

Bror steps into the room and misses his target.
Sean PC attack [1d20] = 18 dmg [1d8] = 2 hits bugbear1
Calthas fires at the one who threw the spear at him PC attack [1d20] = 9, missing.
Odo backs up. He seems to fire wildly as he does so.
Zef backs up in a fighting retreat. He is in the pantry.
Tavin remains in the doorway, but misses his target.
Calmert blesses the party. It doesn't help as much as he'd like: allies are backing up.
Thurwin's spell is disrupted.




Sean and Bror are in the room.
Tavin is in the door. Bugbears are now free to enter the pantry!
Zef, Thurwin, Calthas, and Calmert are in the pantry.
Odo is in the room you all came from.

Thurwin curses his poor luck and he casts his last sleep into the closest group of bugbears. He'll step back a bit to allow those in the room the chance to withdraw to the doorway.

Calthas retreats to the corridor south of the pantry. When he has run a few meters into it, he will turn back and prepare to shoot.

Zef readies a handaxe and will throw it if the bugbears advance.

Odo realizes he needs to fight these bugbears more than one arrow at a time. He lobs a flask of oil at them.

Oil: [1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4

...generally speaking.

Oh, FFS. I'm pretty close to calling, "Run away! Run away!" on this combat.

INITIATIVE baddies [1d6] = 6 party [1d6] = 5

Bugbear1 attacks Sean monster attack [1d20] = 1 fumble [1d16] = 9 "You stumble and leave yourself wide open to attack. The next enemy that attacks you receives a +2 bonus on its attack roll." Bugbear5 attacks Sean monster attack [1d20] = 3 and misses. Bugbear6 attacks Sean monster attack [1d20] = 13 and the morning star glances off of his armor.
Bugbear2 engages Bror monster attack [1d20] = 4 and misses again.
Bugbear3 engages with Zef, following him into the pantry, monster attack [1d20] = 9 and misses.
Bugbear4 engages with Tavin monster attack [1d20] = 3 and derps it.
Bugbear7 flanks Tavin monster attack [1d20] = 5 derping away.
Bugbear8 flanks Bror monster attack [1d20] = 7 and is an embarrassment.
Bugbear9 and Bugbear10 work their way into the pantry. They cannot attack yet.

Thurwin konks out four bugbears.
Bror tries to get back into the closet. He is in the doorway.
Calmert Heal [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5 makes Thurwin feel better.
Calthas goes through the garbage room (230) and into the corridor. He hears someone coming from the corridor!!!
Zef loses a handaxe.
Tavin derps almost as bad as the bad guys.
Odo throws oil fumble [1d8] = 6 (6 makes little sense, so let's move up to 7:) "You drop your weapon. You must retrieve it or draw a new one on your next action." Odo drops the oil in the pantry, and stands in a pool of it. Folks moving through the pantry in retreat must make a save vs Petrify or Paralysis or slip and lose a round righting themselves.
Sean Saving throw [1d20] = 5 derps even though he has advantage.

Sean is in the room, flanked.
Tavin and Bror are in the door. Bugbears are now free to enter the pantry!
Zef, Thurwin, Odo, and Calmert are in the pantry. There is oil all over the floor!
Calthas is in the hall and he hears someone coming!

Calmert casts Hold Person on one of the Bugbears flanking Sean; if he can't see one flanking Sean, then he casts it on one of the Bugbears he can see, preferably a Bugbear that would strategically clog-up/block others from advancing behind him.

You are in battle and backing up through others. No way you’re going three rooms in a fighting retreat.

And it isn’t a random closet, it’s a pantry. ;) You have closet issues?

Calthas prepares to shoot and points the tip of the arrow in the direction of the noise. As soon as he determines that the noise comes from something hostile, he will let it lose. He will refrain to do so if he is not sure.

Odo takes a shot and backs away into the garbage room. He's hope the group follows suit, so they can bottle the bugbears up in the pantry where only a few bugbears could attack at once.

Bror misses whist complaining about larders.
Tavin fumbles fumble [1d4] = 1 "Your incompetent blow makes you the laughingstock of the party but otherwise causes no damage."
Thurwin is in the hall.
Calthas has an arrow nocked, ready.
Zef hits Bror's foe (as I doubt he wanted to waste that roll on a slept opponent)
Odo hits Tavin's foe!
Sean PC attack [1d20] = 17 dmg [1d8] = 7 disembowels one of his opponents.

Bugbear2 monster attack [1d20] = 2 can't hit Bror to save his life.
Bugbear4 attacks Tavin monster attack [1d20] = 7 missing.
Bugbear6 attacks Sean monster attack [1d20] = 10 missing.
Bugbear8 attacks Bror monster attack [1d20] = 4 derping.

Thurwin and Caltas see three new bugbears down the hall. One looks like he's in charge! Calthas longbow [1d20+2] = 18+2 = 20, dmg [1d8] = 8 That one (Bugbear14) now has an arrow sticking in his forehead but he's still coming!
