Part 11 - Back in the Village
Re: Part 11 - Back in the Village
Zef joins the group, looking at each member in turn as if sizing them up. "No, I think our notion of evil is the same. I'd be honored to join your quest. Now tell me some stories!"

The Gnome, barely seeing above the table if sitting on the bench, clears his throat... "I got held by magic the day before yesterday."

Bror retells his tale of being a prisoner then being rescued by the others.

Calmert: Cleric
The little Gnome stands up on his bench and puts his hands on the table, hunches over, and says quietly, "For those of you who wish to continue imbibing and story-telling, please stay and enjoy yourselves." ending with a sincere smile. Calmert continues with a serious tone, "The rest of us should retire and examine what's been collected."
Calmert pays (??) coin for his room, and gathers the rest of the group, particularly the carrier of loots, and retires to the room he paid for; once settled, he'll cast detect magic on the collection at once.

Calmert excuses himself and gathers goods. He prays for divine insight
None of the gems and jewelry are magic.
Many of the other items are:
ring of protection +1
Two potions, one bone scrollcase (Thurwin carrying)
chain mail +2
shield + 1
hammer +2
potion of healing
potion of invisibility
bone scroll-case (illusionist spell, misdirection)
In addition everyone discusses their exploits, talking about what they've accomplished and appreciate the experience they've gained in their adventuring:
The wake for Effric goes well into the night. In the morning, heads pound and hearts feel less heavy. You have a new companion and some breakfast.

greyarea it appears Bror leveled up if that is 24 xp added to the 32 he already had.

Same with Calmert, which puts the Cleric at Level 4 if it is so.GreyWolfVT wrote:greyarea it appears Bror leveled up if that is 24 xp added to the 32 he already had.
Re: Part 11 - Back in the Village
Odo is still slumming it at level 2. And thieves are usually fast levelers. Count loot XP now!

Tavin - Monk
Tavin will engage the barkeep: Is there anyone resident in town that can enchant a sword?

Olster rubs his chin. You know, the wizard Burne can do so but I've heard the effects don't last. In a few weeks we're expecting a caravan with a wizard who does so but he charges a hefty fee. With the way you boys travel, I'd imagine that caravan will be back round the same time they are. I'll make an introduction if he comes into the Wench, which he usually does.

Re: Part 11 - Back in the Village
Thuwin is just short of leveling up, but he's anxious to visit Burne and Rufus and fill them in on our progress. I think we should put out a call for sword arms at the inn before we depart, just to bolster our ranks.
So what's the magic split? Thurwin turned over the fire protection and potions and Illusionist scroll. He has no pref to split, the only items that he might be able to use are a ring of protection or fire resist. And some coins, of course.
Thurwin also needs to see the church to fill them in....

Magic is split. What now, gentlemen?
Re: Part 11 - Back in the Village
Odo, freshly outfitted with new magic armor, sells his old armor (+3 gp). Suddenly faced with an embarrassment of riches (a phrase that is literally true for a hobbit), he ponders ways it might be put to good use.
Odo's sheet updated. What services are there in town for a hobbit looking to spend a little money? Is it possible to buy magic—potions, scrolls, or even more powerful items?

Calmert is interested in healing potions, Cleric scrolls, and any (greater/more " + " than current) magical armor, shield, and weapons.
Re: Part 11 - Back in the Village
Olster informs you that this is a small village, not a bustling city, and that there are no magic purveyors here. They are expecting a caravan at some point and, with the pattern you've established, there might be a magic seller on that caravan.

Tavin - Monk
Should we entertain returning to the place of evil?
OCC: Tavin will take his portion of the loot. If possible he will take the 42 pp plus 367 gp and convert to a 780gp ruby. He will donate the 12 ep, 65 sp and 78 cp to any church in town that supports those down on their luck.
