Part 10 - The Temple Again
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Thurwin - Wizard
Thurwin silently curses their loss of the upper hand and charges in behind the others, trying to quickly get a visual assessment of the room so he can employ his spells to best effect immediately.

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Bror will continue to let Glimmer do his talking hacking at any foes nearby. 'Glimmer' Hand Axe +1 [1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9 to Hit [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6 DMG

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
"Oh, bother," Odo says to himself. "There they go again, rushing into melee." He stands back and holds his fire, not wanting to risk hitting an ally.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Effric rethinks his tactics and attacks the bugbear with his scimitar.
Effric attack [1d20+2] = 10+2 = 12 damage [1d8+2] = 7+2 = 9

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
As far as he can see enemies, Calthas will shoot at them. Failing that, he will shoot again in the dark.

Tavin - Monk
Hmm... I think our actions should have been more coordinated.... I will regulate myself to non-tactical decisions for a bit.
I guess we get in there and engage whatever it is/was?

Hello Darkness, My Old Friend - Round 2
Initiative players [1d6] = 6, baddies [1d6] = 1
Thurwin can see only the bugbear clashing with Calmert, Bror, and Sean. With Calmert's shield acting as a bull-lantern and in the midst of battle, he can't even see that well. Odo holds his fire. Tavin ponders.
That battle, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be progressing well. Glimmer, in Bror's mitt, misses. Effric wades in but his blade does not bite through the armor the bugbear wears. Sean PC attack [1d20] = 10 swings wide, and Calmert (autopilot) Calmert mace [1d20] = 7, dmg [1d6] = 6 whiffs too.
Calthas Calthas longbow into darkness [1d20-2] = 4-2 = 2, dmg [1d8] = 1 fires his arrow into the darkness. You hear it clatter.
The bugbear monster attack [1d20] = 11 curses Sean's armor as his attack is ineffective. You hear a single command: DIE Sean save vs spells [1d20] = 3 and Sean falls, crumpling onto the floor. Another spell is canted and Calmert Calmert save vs spells [1d20] = 1 freezes in place, his shield pointing at an awkward angle, harshly illuminating the salivating bugbear!

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
"Oh, dear," says Odo. He has no choice but to fire now, he thinks. He makes his best guess at where the spell-casting voice came from and releases his arrow.
Short bow +1 (THAC0 19): [1d20+5] = 15+5 = 20 [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5

Calthas follows the lead of Odo and fires an arrow in the direction of the spell casting voice.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Thurwin - Wizard
Cursing our bad luck, Thurwin casts a web spell toward the area that the spells came from.
OOC: Damn. The bad guys got a lick on us this round. If we can snag the initiative for a round or so, we may be able to turn this around. If my web can slow em' down, I can always try to immobilize anyone that I can see with my wand. At this point we may want to consider withdrawal (our priest is out of it, plus our meatshield) so if we can't beat the darkness, we're in a pinch... but Calmert's light spell might help?

Hello Darkness, My Old Friend - Round 3
Initiative players [1d6] = 4, baddies [1d6] = 5
The bugbear switches to attacking who? [1d4] = 4 Bror, whose hand axe has been vexing. monster attack [1d20] = 3 Doesn't matter though, because he swings wide. The party hears more spells spoken by the same voices, but they don't appear to be offensive.
Odo's sure his arrow should have struck home, but he hears it clatter in the darkness. calthas longbow [1d20+2] = 12+2 = 14, dmg [1d8] = 5 Calthas feels likewise. Thurwin casts web into the room beyond, he hears grumbling.
Calmert strikes a pose. Effric can't get a hit but Bror and Tavin sure do! Sean just lies there: lazy git.

assuming the enemy is alive still.
Bror will continue to attack the bugbear that missed him. 'Glimmer' Hand Axe +1 [1d20+2] = 13+2 = 15 to Hit [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5 DMG

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
I miss the AD&D 1e rules, where bows shoot before spells are cast.
Or individual initiative. Either would have helped.

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Clearly annoyed, Calthas shoots at what he can see this time: the bugbear that attacked Bror. Hoping to aim true this time.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Odo, hearing his arrow clatter ineffectively to the floor, utters the strongest curse he knows. "Oh double bother!" He tries again.

Effric wades in with his scimitar again, to no avail.
