Tavin - Monk
We probably should retreat. He will say as he casually draws a knife and chucks it at the nearest bugbear.
Chuck dat knife: [1d20] = 17 damage [1d4+1] = 2+1 = 3

Thurwin - Wizard
As Tavin mentions retreat, Thurwin quickly casts a stinking cloud into the room. "Perhaps we can pare the ranks a bit before we withdraw, eh?"

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Calthas fires into the cloud, while making sure not to enter it, all the while trying to figure out who from his party or the bugbears are the most evil...
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Effric waits, scimitar ready, for bugbears to start running out of the room.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
"They don't seem violent," says Odo. "Perhaps we should try to talk with them before—"
Tavin and Bror attack and Thurwin casts his smelly cloud.
"Oh. I guess we're fighting, then. They look awfully big..."
Odo steps back and fires into the cloud.
Short bow (THAC0 19): [1d20+3] = 19+3 = 22 [1d6] = 6

Larder Warriors, round 1
Thurwin points his finger and a cloud of green-grey noxious gas fills part of the room. The bugbears in that area begin to gag and choke. There are how many [1d11] = 6 six bugbears caught in the fumes and the north door is "blocked" by them.
Tavin's dagger finds its target.
Bror's axe finds the same.
Calthas Calthas longbow [1d20+2] = 8+2 = 10, dmg [1d8] = 1 can't find one.
Odo, on the other hand, can and a shout of surprise comes from the cloud.
One injured bugbear yells (the one closest to you) and advances as do the six that are not in the cloud. The six in the cloud are not doing well...

Thurwin - Wizard
Thurwin backs up a bit to allow the melee folks some space to work. He'll keep an eye behind us in case retreat is the choice. As he backs up, he tosses a bolt of energy at the closest bugbear...
[1d20+1] = 1+1 = 2 Yoink!

Calmert: Cleric
The Gnome waits for a Bugbear to emerge from the cloud and enter the hallway he defends, and strikes!
To Hit:
[1d20] = 15
HA!! Calmert's Mace is d6, not d8 ~ sorry!
Damage:
[1d8] = 7
CORRECTED DAMAGE ROLL:
[1d6] = 2

Tavin - Monk
OCC: Amending action, if permitted.
Tavin will take a swipe with his bastard sword at the closest buggy bear.
Bastard sword to hit: [1d20] = 9 damage: [2d4+1] = 4+1 = 5
Noik!

Bror continues to ax the bugbear closest to him until it can move no more. 'Glimmer' Hand Axe +1 [1d20+2] = 14+2 = 16 to Hit [1d6+1] = 3+1 = 4 DMG

If the armor is metal Effric will target the biggest three bugbears with heat metal, otherwise he will attack the nearest one coming out of the room with his scimitar.merias wrote:Can Effric tell at a glance - does their armor appear to be metal?

Calthas fires at one of the advancing bugbears which are not coming from the cloud.

The bugbears are clad in black, belted coverlets and there is no metal evident.merias wrote:If the armor is metal Effric will target the biggest three bugbears with heat metal, otherwise he will attack the nearest one coming out of the room with his scimitar.merias wrote:Can Effric tell at a glance - does their armor appear to be metal?

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Initiative players [1d6] = 5, baddies [1d6] = 1
The bugbears begin to charge as the surprise dissipates. However, the party still has the first move!
Thurwin fumble [1d4] = 4 "Your weapon is damaged: a bowstring breaks, a sword hilt falls off, or a crossbow firing mechanism jams. The weapon can be repaired with 10 minutes of work but is useless for now." Thurwin feels a searing pain due to a misfire of magical energy! He cannot cast one of these bolts for ten minutes (although he can still cast other spells).
Calmert hits the nearest bugbear with his mace. Odo's arrow finds its mark, hitting a bugbear not currently in melee. Tavin can't hit the nearest bugbear, but Glimmer ends it in Bror's hand!
Calthas Calthas longbow [1d20+2] = 20+2 = 22, dmg [1d8] = 2 Crit [1d20] = 14 "Strike to head. Foe must make a Fort save (DC 10 + PC level) or fall unconscious" strikes the bugbear in the head and knocks him out. He's not dead yet, though.
Effric swings at the next "live" target Crit [1d20] = 18 "Foe falls into your attack. He takes +2d6 damage from the strike and curses your luck!" dmg [2d6] = 7 and falls dead.
Sean melee [1d20] = 19 dmg [1d8] = 2
Hey, a fumble and two crits! Fun! I do like those DCC tables!
There are four foes not in the gas and they attack.
Bugbear 1 attacks Sean monster attack [1d20] = 17 dmg [1d8] = 6 with a devastating blow.
who [1d8] = 5, [1d8] = 2, [1d8] = 5
Bugbear 2 attacks Calmert monster attack [1d20] = 6 missing
Bugbear 3 attacks Tavin monster attack [1d20] = 14 dmg [1d8] = 7 wounding him gravely.
Bugbear 4 attacks Calmert monster attack [1d20] = 19 dmg [1d8] = 2 the gnome's shield taking the brunt of the flail.
