Thurwin nods at the idea of the fire trap. "That could be useful. Perhaps we could peer through the door to draw the occupants attention, shut it quickly, then apply your trap to it."
OOC: Thurwin is fine with anything. obviously a guerilla hit and run strategy will probably net us more success than facing these things head on.

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Hit and run is good as long as we don't run into something worse. Calthas militates to stay hidden for now, but is okay with the idea of putting a trap.

Effric nods. "I will ready my spell if someone will open the door a crack and see what is beyond?"

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Traps are set (or at least treachery prepared for) and the door is opened.
This small room was evidently meant for minor functionaries of the Water Temple, for shreds of green draperies still hang from the walls, and part of a dirty green carpet remains in the southwest corner. Four heaps of material, evidently used as sleeping mats, are evenly spaced on the floor. A long bench stands by the east wall, under which is a small keg. A large barrel stands near the north door, with a lumpy sack nearby. Several green cloaks hang from wall pegs.
There are bodies of four bugbears here, all dead and not for too long. The door to the north is spiked closed, and there is a spike in what looks to be a concealed door to the south.

Thurwin surveys the dead bugbears and says "My goodness. I wonder what this was about? I'd like to think we helped precipitate this, but who knows?"
Thurwin motions toward the door to the north and says "Spiked? That's odd. Want to see what's behind it? Let's be careful, regardless."

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
The sack contains some bad-smelling meat, a large wheel of cheese, and several loaves of coarse black bread.
From the door north, which is spiked, you clearly hear a *whump* and the door shudders but the spike holds. Something strong is behind it.

Thurwin - Wizard
Thurwin quickly backs up toward the door we came in from. "That's not good - what the heck is that? I think something is anxious to meet us."
OOC: I can't remember where we found Super Troll at, maybe it's him? What's the plan? Maybe we let this thing wear itself down bashing the door and then chop it up. Although I'm wondering who spiked these doors and why.
QUESTION: you said the bodies of the bugs have been dead for a short time, do we think like a few minutes, or hours?

"If we back up beyond the fire-trapped door, we can wait for whatever this is to burst through and pepper it with spells, bows and slings before we engage it," Effric says.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
"Good thinking, this is probably our best option." concurs Calthas.

Yes, fire does seem to work well on the trolls, I don't possess oil at the moment though.
