Part 10 - The Temple Again
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
All excited by his consecutive hits, Calthas fires a last arrow before joining his party mates in their escape.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Odo likewise fires off one more arrow before retreating.
Short bow (THAC0 19): [1d20+3] = 1+3 = 4 [1d6] = 4
"Someone spike the door!" he says as he beats a hasty yet dignified backwards advance.

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
INITIATIVE baddies [1d6] = 1 party [1d6] = 3
The cleric disengages and the party pulls back into the pantry (not a sentence I get to write every day). Calthas longbow [1d20+2] = 2+2 = 4, dmg [1d8] = 7 Calthas and Odo embed arrows into the door as it is shut.
Then the druid intones a phrase and waves his fingers at the door and the once straight boards writhe and bend, jamming the jamb. You hear thuds on the other side as a bugbear bangs on the door, trying to open it!

Thurwin - Wizard
Thurwin says "Perhaps to the large cluttered hall with the stairs leading up - I think maybe it's a grand time to visit the level above us."
OOC: Maybe we withdraw to our tower to rest for a day and let this level cool down. Just an idea. I'm afraid a bunch of pissed off bugbears may follow us to some lengths....

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
"Do you have a place where we can recover safely?" asks Odo as he joins the retreat.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Thurwin nods vigorously as he runs and says "We have a cozy old tower at the edge of the temple grounds, assuming it doesn't have squatters in it."Zhym wrote:"Do you have a place where we can recover safely?" asks Odo as he joins the retreat.

Calthas agrees to regroup in the tower to rest and plan the party's next raid in the temple.

Calmert: Cleric
Runs as fast as he can to keep up with his party. Between gasps and gulps for air, "Yes! The Tower!"

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
The party makes haste for the tower, the booming of the bugbear on the door and the shouts fading into the distance.
random encounter [1d100] = 34
random encounter [1d100] = 94
random encounter [1d100] = 75
The party makes it up and out of the dungeon levels of the Temple and into the fields surround it. The booming sound is the rush of blood in ears from the mad run to safety.
Approaching the tower that you've called home base for a while you notice that it is disturbed since last you were here. no appearing [1d3] = 3 Through the arrow-slits and ajar door, you see one, no three, large grub-like creatures that have decided that this is now home. They are roughly 4' tall and 9' long, with multifaceted eyes, small legs, and with a head bearing 2' long insect-like feelers tipped with a nasty stinger.
If you want to use the tower, you'll have to retake it from those things!

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Bror looks at the others then back at the tower "Well lets take our base back then shall we?" then heads into battle with "Glimmer" in hand swinging at the closest creature.
'Glimmer' Hand Axe +1 [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19 to Hit [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6 DMG

Calmert nods in agreement with Odo, but then his head whips the other direction following Bror. Unsure, the Cleric looks to and fro several times before heaving his shield and raising his mace!
"I don't like bugs larger than me!" he yells as he follows Bror into battle!
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Thurwin - Wizard
Thurwin hurls a bolt of energy at the closest bug thing.
[1d20+1] = 18+1 = 19

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Calthas winces in disgust looking at the giant bugs. For once, he agrees with the dwarves. It is not long before he grabs his bow shoots at the terrifying creatures.
Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
At the appropriate time , Effric follows in with scimitar and attacks.
Effric attack [1d20+2] = 18+2 = 20 damage [1d8+2] = 3+2 = 5

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
Odo sighs heavily and fires an arrow that sails well over everyone's heads.

Re: Part 10 - The Temple Again
We've got to get in to get out, round 1
INITIATIVE baddies [1d6] = 6 party [1d6] = 1
The crawling things ignore you.
Thurwin fires a bolt that does a bit of damage to one. Seems to get its attention.
Odo fires wide but Calthas longbow [1d20+2] = 17+2 = 19, dmg [1d8] = 7 Calthas lands a shaft.
Bror leads the charge and goop flies as his axe hits home. Calmert Calmert mace [1d20] = 6, dmg [1d6] = 3 misses but Effric finishes it off!
Tavin (autopilot) throws a star Tavin shuriken [1d20] = 5, dmg [1d4] = 2 that thuds into the door.
Sean Sean ranged [1d20] = 9, dmg [1d8] = 6 also sends a bolt wide!
Two of these creatures remain. They slither to the doorway to engage!
the red things are the crawling creatures
The green names are approximately where you are. No one who attacked with ranged weapons has good visibility inside to attack the other two crawling creatures -- between the tight doorway, the ramp up, and your own people you'd have to attack with a -4, with a miss of 5> randomly hitting your own friends.
