Part 13 - Hi ho, hi ho, it's off to town we go

The party makes the trek back to the village of Hommlet. There is a light, cold rain as you leave the Temple premises. By by the time you enter the forest path, a steady rain has started, and you are soon soaked to the skin. The paucity of leaves due to the autumnal time means that even under "cover" the rain continues unabated. Your visibility is reduced quite a bit.

A low rumble hits and the rain continues in sheets.

encounter [1d12] = 5
As you continue on, you see a pair of folk approaching. Due to the heavy rains, you cannot see them well yet. The two are both man-sized and one appears to walk with a limp.

Seeing the pair approaching, Thurwin does his best to shake the rain from his cloak and he says quietly to those around him "look sharp, fellows."

As the pair approach, he says "Hello there!"

OOC: Probably a couple elderly folks headed to play bingo or something..

Calmert Calthas and Odo slip away.

The two emerge through the sheets of rain. One is leaning slightly on the other, and he appears to have a limp, while the other holds his cloak over both of them to try to shield from the rain. They both look miserable: sodden and in poor shape. They have grey hair and beards, and wear

The non-limping one replies, "Hello there, follower of St. Cuthbert. We are on our way to Nulb. Are these pilgrims with you on your way to a shrine?

My friend here has hurt his leg, slipping in a sudden mudslide a mile or so ago. Can you provide some healing for my friend?"

They stand there in the driving rain.

QUESTION: Is there a tree canopy nearby, or someplace that we could move to, out of the rain?

OOC: Perhaps we try to encourage them to move with us to someplace dry so we can treat his wound? If something is amiss, maybe we'll find out sooner rather than later. OR we could say "Hey, no healing available, but come with us to Homlett and we'll get you squared away." If they are baddies, they'll likely refuse or show their hand then....

Calmert: Cleric

Calmert would never charge for healing, but he's also learning not to be gullible. "St. Cuthbert can bestow health and healing. What dontation have you to offer?" the Gnome says with stern humility.

Whatever they offer Calmert will take, perform healing (CLW), and then give their offering back to them. If they're deceptive, hopefully they'll show their hand as badams30 suggested.

"Yeah, the trail is passable," the bedraggled man says. "We was off the trail a bit, hunting. When this was just a light rain, we thought nothing of it but when it opened up, we was in a world of hurt. We was heading back to the trail when the mudslide hit and my buddy here got pulled along it fore he hit a tree. Hurt his leg kinda bad."

You look them over. They are definitely muddy.

"Was hoping since your man there is a preacher, he'd be able to work something. Ain't got no coin to donate, but you can have some rabbits we caught."

He holds up a few by the ears.

Calmert: Cleric

Calmert takes one rabbit and hefts it over his shoulder. He says a prayer to St. Cuthbert for the injured man. Calmert will cast CLW on the injured man, up to two times if necessary, and also offer that to the man speaking as well, if he is in need.

Calmert then returns the rabbit to the men. "St. Cuthbert requires no payment, and wishes good health to all.".

As Calmert goes to assist, Thurwn just stands back and smiles, waiting to either proceed, or if some killin' needs to be done. He keeps the words to his sleep spell close at hand...

OOC: I guess we just keep moving along if these guys don't want us to stop (or if they don't try to kill us)
