Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Watched over by Phoenix, with Ox and Norbold in the background, the two 'new colleagues' Thorelf and Korin kneel down to take their turns in examining the frontmost two stone slabs, using their thief skills.
The left slab is not trapped; neither does the right one appear to be trapped.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf signals for the others to stay where they are. This is obviously some kind of trick, but I'm not going to fall for that. Wait, let me get something. He runs out of the cave mouth, checks that the ogre isn't present outside and looks for a boulder. If he finds one, he'll return with it and his horse. Otherwise he'll return to the corridor with just his horse.

Korin shrugs and waits for Thorelf to return.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Waiting for GM ruling on the boulder, the ogre and/or horse before I proceed.
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Huh?!?! I thought I posted a post earlier today that went something like this:
but now I can't see that post - strange. And now Dram has already answered what Ox will do, so he can disregard my question.Thorelf can easily find several kinds of pebbles, stones, boulders and rocks outside, over where he broke through the undergrowth to arrive on the riverbank. What size does he select ?
What do Ox, Norbold and Phoenix do in the meantime - stay put ?
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf comes back carrying a heavy looking boulder with both hands. You see I...huff...back home I had this rich guy I know, and he...huff huff...had his treasure chamber trapped with a Thorelf drops the boulder on the slab he examined before, holding his head back. Pressure plate!

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Sastaz please describe where Thorelf's horse is secured and how.
Thorelf flexes both his brain and muscles, and brings in a heavy stone, placing it on... which one of the two foremost stone slabs ?

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
If the others had horses visible outside, the horse is secured by them. If not, Thorelf brought the horse into the cave, so the ogre wouldn't eat it. It's currently not secured, standing a few yards back.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf could not see any other horses outside beside his own.
Thorelf successfully places the boulder on the nearest right slab, but there are no signs of anything happening. The stone rests on the slab.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
We secured our horses out of sight in a camp we made.
Korin watches Thorelf work from a safe distance out of the way.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf pauses momentarily. Okay, let's see... He picks up the boulder again and repeats the process with the next stone slab, stepping forward one slab at a time as he moves the boulder, keeping himself and the boulder in the right "slab corridor". If nothing happens, he repeats this two more times, testing a total of four slabs.
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Sastaz, please roll 3d6 for Thorelf.
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
<shhhww-w-w-click!> the moment Thorelf places the boulder on right slab #2*, the slab instantly gives way. The boulder disappears straight down a hole where the slab was, and crashes below with a <crrunch> followed by several mechanical <pht-ik!> <pht-ik!> <pht-ik!> sounds in succession.
Thorelf's quick reflexes only just save him from toppling over and joining it down the shaft.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf kneels down next to the pit, mumbles something quitely, and throws a handful of something into the pit. Afterwards, he backtracks his steps to join the others. He scratches his head.
That was close. What do you reckon? Someone want's to protect what's at the end of that corridor, and I intend to find out what it is they're hiding there. Maybe the circle is just a marker, to remind the ones living here that there's a pit to the right? If that's the case, the slab to the right of the arrow marker is trapped as well.
