Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Happy holidays all! I will take some time to just relax (meaning: working on my megadungeon).
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
God fortsättning! As we Swedes say round about now. Hope you've all had a good time (and that someone raised enough bail for Storm)
As soon as Korin pushes the left boulder forward onto the next slab ( i e: L4) it instantly gives way, and the boulder plunges right down into some kind of liquid 10-15' below, with a big splash.
Luckily, like with Thorelf a moment ago, the dwarven thief's swift sense of reaction saves him from following it down the well-like pit.
Btw, who is holding the torches at the moment?

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf had both torches last i knew.
Korin having but one rock left will sit on the triangle plate and ease the last rock onto the plate directly in front of him.
hopefully that is the plate i had not yet tested.

Yes, Thorelf has his own torch and Korin's. Holding them high right behind Korin to that the area in front of him is illuminated as much as possible.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Though at one point Korin did ask for his back. I just don't think we made a post that it was being handed back to him. Also could we get an updated image for what the area with the floor plates looks like now?

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
So if I understand it correctly:
Ox and Norbold are in the mould-covered ante-room, keeping watch, weapons ready, no torches
Phoenix is standing on the threshold between the ante-room and the 'slab corridor', pom-poms ready, no torch
Thorelf is in the passage, standing on the slab with a circle pattern (L2), holding both his and Korin's lit torches, to help Korin see
Korin is further inside the passage, kneeling on the slab with a triangle pattern (L3), aiming to push a boulder forwards ?
Then, where is Thorelf's horse at the moment ?

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
That sounds correct the horse i think was left outside tied up.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Yeah, hat sounds correct. The horse is somewhere inside the cave as I understand it:
sastaz wrote:He runs out of the cave mouth, checks that the ogre isn't present outside and looks for a boulder. If he finds one, he'll return with it and his horse. Otherwise he'll return to the corridor with just his horse.
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Phoenix squints into the light of the torches. ”How’s it going? Is it safe yet to pass? You guys are doing SO well!” the gnome says, doing a small cheer leading jig from the threshold.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Korin has already placed a boulder on slab L4, a few moments ago. It opened up and the bolder plummeted into liquid. His remaining boulder rests on slab R3, where it set off electrical sparks. See requested update picture here, and previous posts for full continuity recap.Korin having but one rock left will sit on the triangle plate and ease the last rock onto the plate directly in front of him.
When kneeling on triangle pattern slab L3, Korin also notices that slab R4 (to his diagonal right ahead) is indented with a square pattern. In the flickering torch light, slab L5 (beyond the liquid pit) also seems to display some kind of angular indented pattern, but the torch light doesn't reach far enough to show exactly what symbol it is. The corridor seems to continue straight onwards.Alert me if you can't see the above picture[/ooc]

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Korin picks up the rock on the slab moves to that slab to the right of the triangle and places the rock on the slab directly in front of the slab his rock was on.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf follows, now standing on slab L2 with the circle with both (or one if Korin wants his back) torch(es), so that Korin can see better.
"Phoenix, what was that? How about some of that magical illumination in here?"
"Korin, should we try to climb past the slabs? It seems just a matter of time before one of us gets hurt."

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Completely oblivious to any danger, Korin moves over to slab R3, once again setting off the trap there. Sparks fly! Streaks of electricity shoot upwards! The cave is eerily lit up by millisecond flashes of blue!
But his sturdy dwarven boots make a successful save and, unharmed, Korin can thus push the last remaining boulder forward as planned, to slab R4, which, he now sees, is indeed indented with a square pattern.
The boulder rocks a bit, then stops snugly still against the edge of the indentation. Nothing seems to happen with/on slab R4.
Thanks to Thorelf leaning forward with torch(es), the two can now also see that slab L5 is patterned with an indented diamond shape, while R5 is plain.
