"Well let go n grab nother rock or two an put em on tha other floor plates."
(DM can't but help thinking to himself, hmm, are four brave adventurers all just standing around letting the newcomer do all the dangerous work ? (And get the XP?) ;) )

Korin goes back outsite looks for two rocks that have some weight to em but not boulder sized and lugs them in then places one on the next plate that has not yet been tested.
could we get an updated image of the plates minus the one that is not a pit?

Innit tho. Hahaha. One 1st level illusionist without armour and no hit points is definitely waving his rainbow Coloured pom-poms to cheer on the scouts from
Behind the previous doorway until at least third level.

Having carefully edged themselves forward 10' - and sprung a trap in the process - the group can now also see 10' further into the passage. It appears that the stone slab path continues straight onwards, beyond the open shaft, the circle and the triangle

Alert me if you can't see the above picture

Korin places a new boulder on 2nd left slab (the one with the circle). It settles nicely into the shallow circular indentation, and lies still there.

Thorelf "If I'm right, the next slab with the arrow should be safe as well." Thorelf steps to the slab with the circle, picks up the boulder and puts it on the slab with the arrow, crouching as much as possible as he does it. Korin, mayby you should duck, in case the circle means hole, the arrow might mean just that.

Korin places his second big rock on the triangle plate and moves the one off the circle plate to the one to the right of the triangle plate. "Mind lettin me do this er ya wanna Thorelf?" the dwarf stops and asks if Thorelf is blocking his way to move the two rocks.

Thorelf steps out of Korin's way. "You go ahaed." He falls back and follows right behind Korin, holding his torch so that Korin has the best possible visibility as he moves the boulders.

Only one roll needed - I'll use the first one: Korin shoves one of the boulders forward onto the 'triangle' slab; it lies still in its place.

But as he maneuvers the other bolder diagonally to the right, onto the slab next to the 'triangle' slab, that stone triggers a sharp <bzzzt!> sound, accompanied by a shower of light blue sparks zapping upwards from the slab, momentarily engulfing the stone. Luckily for Korin, he never came in contact with the slab himself, but a whiff of ozone offends his nostrils.

After the spark dies down, the stone remains still on the slab with no other effect visible or audible.

Korin now on the triangle slab moves the rock on that slab to the slab direct in front of the triangle slab.

The bold, brave, perhaps even foolhardy dwarf tests his luck once more in the ornate slab corridor now seemingly having completely abandonded 'checking for traps' for the more exciting 'testing potential traps directly' ;)

GW please roll 1d20 for Korin

Thorelf "Watch out Korin, it does seem like the slabs next to the marked ones are trapped."

To GM: are the walls scalable with the thief climb walls skill, i.e. can Thorelf pass the slabs by climbing sideways on the wall? Some GMs interpret climb wall skill as "climb walls that are impossible for normal humans to climb", some more like "climb walls that all PCs can climb, only be better at it".

Sastaz: the wall surface is "coarse and offers ledges and cracks for toe and hand holds" which, according to the PHB, is what is required for an attempt to "climb walls". Welcome to let Thorelf give it a try. Note that the part where the wall meets the ceiling is a bit curved though, adding a slipping risk should he try to climb that high.

To all: I have decided to modify my 'house rules'. All along I've stated that in my games, the DM rolls all Thief ability rolls. But now I want to give some of those rolls back to the player. From now on, players with a Thief character will themselves roll for the following skills:

• Pick pockets
• Open locks
• Climb walls
• Find/remove traps
• Read languages

I as DM will still roll for:

• Move silently
• Hide in shadows
• Hear noise

Hope that's OK with all.
