Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf and Korin note that this opening looks almost identical to the previous one. As earlier, the outside light does not reach very far into the 15' high opening, but Thorelf's torch helps somewhat to show a 5' narrow passage heading inwards and slightly upwards, maybe for about 10', after which it goes dark. Like the passage leading to the mouldy antechamber, it's really not wide enough for 2 people.
Marching orders, please!

Yes, Thorelf takes the lead. He checks the first 10' for traps. Tapping the floor with his stick as he moves along.
From what I can make out, marching order is Thorelf, Korin, Phoenix, Norbold. With Ox still in the mold covered antechamber.
Find/remove traps: [1d100] = 54

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
The group has quickly established their trust in the newcomer, letting him take the lead in exploring deeper into unknown areas. Although applying all his powers of concentration when looking for traps, Thorelf reads nothing in the immediate area in front of him. Straight ahead, however, he (and the others) can see that the narrow passage soon ends, or seems to open up into another space. A bit like the approach to the mould antechamber.
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf moves slowly towards this antechamber to catch a look, looking for traps as he goes along.
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Reaching the end of the passage after a few more feet, this is what shows up in the torch light....

Korin suggests to Thorelf "I'd just burn them webs, tryin ta cut em might just end in yer weapon getting stuck in em."

Ox- Hand me the torch. I will toss it into the webs. He puts his hand to take the torch. It may destroy anything of value in there,

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Thorelf hands over his torch to Ox (provided Korin is carrying a lit torch as per usual) and lets Ox thorugh. Marching order is now Ox, Thorelf, Korin, Phoenix, Norbold.
"Let's try it."
Thorelf starts mumbling something quietly and makes small guestures.

Korin ducks out of Ox's way and watches the torch throwing.

"Phoenix, do you have any handy tricks for scaring a giant spider? Perhaps an explosions of hue?"
Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
Ox shows that his marksman accuracy works fine even in the dark: he expertly lobs the lit torch into the thick, yucky strands criss-crossing the opening.
<Phooom!> the webs in front of him catch fire, and <Fzzzz-phhssssttt> rapidly burn into nothingness; the torch drops to the floor, and (due to rolling 1 on its saving throw,) breaks into ashes and the flame goes out! (Korin remove 1 x torch from inventory)
The only light available now is Thorelf's torch, held behind Ox, who therefore can't clearly make out the contents of the space opening up in front of him.

"Great throw Ox."
Thorelf passes Ox and ventures further into the corridor towards the door, checking the ground with his stick.

Re: Chapter 03: Minn's Mound
The door (which you can see is also covered with webs) is on the opposite wall of a room you are all looking into - about 20' across. To move towards the door means exiting the short narrow corridor you are now in, by stepping through the opening (that Ox just cleared from webs) and into a chamber that lies ahead. Is that Thorelf's move ?Thorelf passes Ox and ventures further into the corridor towards the door, checking the ground with his stick.
Does Thorelf hand over his lit torch to Ox before moving ahead ?Ox Thanks gents. Pass me up the other torch make sure we killed all the spiders.
