Seven "Guess it all depends on if you plan to come back and exterminate the ghouls, otherwise it feels a waste just leaving it here. Can't you charge it without sitting in the frame?"

Zeke replies, OK, fine, we'll take it. You go on the elevator first, so you're not stuck down here if I break it.

While Seven is going up, Zeke looks around for something to use to reinforce the elevator cable.

reinforcing the elevator cable [1d20] = 5

Once the elevator comes back down, Zeke clambers in, says a silent prayer, and hits the up button.

Seven's ascent went without a hitch. Zeke's however, encountered a brief snag. By snag I mean the cable snapped just as it was about to reach the ground floor.

You have a few moments to react. Roll a d20 to see what happens next. Better yet, tell me what happens next and I will roll to see if it happens. ;)

Zeke pops open the elevator console, just as he did on their way down, and attempts to activate the emergency brake.

elevator emergency brake [1d20] = 2

Failing that, Zeke attempts to climb out of the elevator and jump off the roof, clinging to the side of the shaft.

jumping off the elevator [1d20] = 5

Man, some days you just can't roll above a 5.

Zeke curls into a ball and braces for impact.

Yeah... I cringed a bit with every roll. So, here is me throwing you a bone ;) . A 5 will suffice in getting a firm grip on the elevator shaft. From here you can start climbing. Consider that elevator beyond repair now.

Zeke starts the slow, laborious climb up to the top of the elevator shaft.

When he reaches the top, he says, The bad news is that there's a big pile of former elevator blocking the entrance to the Vault. The good news is that we don't need to worry about anyone else looting the place while we're gone!

Zeke makes sure to use his Pip-Boy to seal the entrance to the upper level of the Vault once they exit back into the sewers.

Zeke replies, I'd be less optimistic if I didn't have a power armor frame to help remove all that dead elevator when the time comes...

You leave the vault and make sure everything is locked up nice and tight before making your way through the sewers and back to the surface. As you reach the surface you are greeted by the booming sounds of thunder. Flashes of green light crackle through the skies and you can hear a steady wind howling outside. Your Geiger meter ticks every few seconds timed with the boom of thunders.

Seven "Well this is a great way to end an already eventful day...." he says holding his hand up towards the thunder and rain. "Good thing I wear a hat and a leather coat."

Zeke

Hmm, I don't know that I thought this through. I'm never going to be able to keep up with you on the bike if I'm in the power armor. Maybe we should just hide it for now, and hope this radioactive rain can recharge the core?

Seven shrugs "You know more n I do bout power armor and fusion cores. Better to store it surface side than down in that ghoul infested hole."

Should we wait out the storm and then get moving?

Seven shrugs trying to think if it is safe to ride in the storm or not. [1d20] = 17

Staying indoors will help minimize radiation exposure during the storm, but you feel confident in going out if you have a rad away to use right afterward.

We found some earlier.
Rukellian wrote:Because you guys gave a wishlist instead of just stating what you found, here are my random selections.

Your combined search yields:

[1d20] = 4 rad-aways
[1d20] = 19 ... and a plethora spare parts and tools to replace and or fix delicate machinery (potential weapon and/or crafting components)
[1d20] = 20 ... a spare fusion core too...

It looks like there used to be some emergency rations here, but they've been torn open and used up.

You also find a rolled up piece of parchment, an oddity in these sort of locations. Everything is usually digital. Upon closer inspection, you find that the parchment is actually a blueprint, professionally hand-drawn (drafting table quality), of some sort of device. The details of what it is and can do are sketchy, but a symbol found on it gives you a clue. It has a radiation hazard sign on it. You see a picture of a fusion core on it as well.
Seven "We should be good since we found them rad aways earlier we should just be good to go now."
