Deuce

"Oh, Shit! Don't forget me!" He hurries after them revolver still in hand. as he runs to catch up he looks for anything he can throw down behind them to make more obstacles for the ghouls to get by should they break free and pursue.

The corridor is fairly open, not much clutter in the way save the occasional collapsed wall-side. The stairs are clear and, much to your surprise, the kitchen seems to be untouched. Perhaps the ghouls warded off any potential looters....

Sitting on one of the larger island counters is a large birthday cake. What makes this a strange appearance, among other obvious reasons, is that it almost looks pristine, as if it was just freshly made. The iced writing on top addresses the cake to someone named Blue, and there is a wrapped present laying right next to it.

Seven his immediate reaction being "What the hell? Ghouls know how to make cake? Dare I ask what the hell is in the present?" unsure of if it is a good idea to open the present he slowly walks up to the cake and present and nudges the present with the barrel of one of his pistols.

Zeke ignores the cake and reaches into his backpack, pulling out a large sack. He fills it up with whatever canned goods he can find.

He is also on the lookout for anything that looks like fresh water.

The wrapped present does not give any to the nudge of the pistol. Whatever is inside is weighing it down.

The kitchen, having been guarded by radiation and ghouls for the past few decades, has proven to be a treasure trove of canned goods packed with ridiculous amounts of preservatives. The expiration dates say that the most of them are still good for another 12 years or so, if your current calendar math is correct.

Your combined search efforts yield 27 large cans of food.

There is some water in the one fridge, but.... you are not sure if its fresh enough.

Zeke puts 10 cans of food in his sack.

If you're opening that present, do it now because I'm not waiting any longer.

Shaking it yields the sound of something inside, its not too heavy apparently. Opening the present, your eyes light up upon seeing the object(s) inside. You can't believe you just found something like this, in a place like this!

I'm being vague on purpose. This is an opportunity for you as the player to dictate how the story will proceed, or what kind of item you just found, perhaps both. If you choose not to describe something, I will, no joke, pull up a random item generator, like this: https://www.randomlists.com/things and say that is what is inside. :)

And a PipBoy you found! The computer monitor seems to be blank, and a bit dusty, but mostly intact. The buttons and dials are few in number, and the wrist latch seems to fit like a glove. With a push of the power button, it hums to life....

Image

Fiddling with the dials, you are able to pick up a couple of radio stations, and some information on the radiation levels nearby. There appear to be other features built into the computer, and a cassette player on top.

Usually only vault dwellers and vault tech employees are issued these personal computers. It almost makes you wonder why there is one here in a bombed hotel full of ghouls. But hey, don't look a gift horse in the mouth, right? ;)

Zeke gives one can of food to Deuce, so everyone has nine, and then he makes his way back down the corridor, pausing to move quietly as they approach the corner to the hallway where they locked in the ghouls.

Seven follows Zeke back towards the exit trying to be as quiet as possible.

To the extent a roll is needed to be quiet...

[1d20] = 6 Creeping past the ghouls locked up

If the ghouls are still trapped in the hotel room, Zeke runs past them before they break thru the door.

You all manage to sneak past the door that is holding the ghouls back. Though they didn't hear you, you know for a fact that they are more concerned with breaking through the door. You came in from above, but you believe there might be a way out through a lower level. Directly ahead of you is the stairs leading to the next floor above you, and a run-down elevator. The sound of a Geiger counter clicks in the background, and now, also from your PipBoy. The readings are faint, but they are there.

How will you all proceed?

Zeke says I'm not a fan of radiation exposure but I really don't want to be around when those ghouls get free. I say we go up the stairs and get the hell out of here.

Seven "I'm less a fan of the ghouls than the rads we can always see a doc about that or find some meds for it if we don't stay in it for too long. Up the stairs we go since there doesn't appear to be much else with a broken elevator."
