Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Re: Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Lightfinger retreats.
The Tall Hobbit, wide-eyed, slithers back as quickly as possible. He locks his eyes on Monocar and his surroundings, hoping the party can avoid violence.

Chauncey squints sideways at the bundle, suspecting the worst. His hand hovers over his component pouch...

Re: Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Seeking Out Storm The Halfling, And Then The Village People
Moonday, 1st of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
Monocar readies his ax and tips the log over with a thud, hoping it smashes on the ground to release its contents. Avaala cringes at this action, hoping they didn't just kill whatever is wrapped up in the tight bundle. He suggest a little lighter touch and starts breaking open the dead wood with his hands as Rollo continues to growl softly.
Lightfinger prepares for the worst, slinking away from the action, just in case. Chauncey sticks his hand into his components pouch, ready to web any fire farting monsters if he needs to.
Getting the bundle free of the decaying log, the mage begins to slowly unwrap the cloak to see if his suspicions are correct. Though he finds no weapons or adventuring pack on the poor fellow, he does indeed find the body of a 3 foot halfling inside the fur wrapped cloak. Covered in bites and stings, the poor soul looks quite dead. His face is pale white and the residual of a greenish foamy substance covers his nose and mouth. He smells horribly of rot and body odor, as if he has been out in the bush for a long while. Remembering that shirelings are quite hardy folk when it comes to such things, the wizard does not simply dismiss the poor soul as gone. He holds his hand close to his nose and mouth, hoping to feel the slightest hint of breath......

Whew!!!
Avaala finds the faintest of labored breath still emanating from the mouth of the halfling.

Monocar
Is happy to see they have found their quarry and holsters his ax back into his belt. "Is it safe to move him? Can we use what's left of the log as a stretcher?"

Avaala the Grey
Avaala backs away from the Halfling, both to make room for the healers and to escape the smell coming off the poor fellow. "He's alive, but he's in poor, poor shape."
He wipes his hands on the grass, to get the scent off of them. In a low voice, he says to Rollo, "I see why you were growling. He almost smells dead."

Alordan "nice job thinking he was in that log... I wouldn't have thought of that... Let's get him patched up quick and then get back to town fast?"

"Thank you," says Avaala."Compliments are always welcome," he finishes with a grin. Looking down at the Halfling, the grin fades quickly. "Yes. I'm no healer, but I'd say he needs help as fast as we can get it to him."

"Oh... goodness," says Chauncey covering his mouth and nose with a corner of his cloak and backing up a step, "It smells like the inside of a fake leg..."

Looks at Chauncy confused. "Why would a fake leg smell like that?"ChubbyPixie wrote:"Oh... goodness," says Chauncey covering his mouth and nose with a corner of his cloak and backing up a step, "It smells like the inside of a fake leg..."

Brother Gilbert
I can help with his healing.
Using his last spell of the day, Br. G touches the (smelly) prone body and prays.
Cure Light Wounds- spell [1d8] = 3

Lightfinger recoils.
Eww! The odor is indeed noxious, but he can't help but get a peek at his Halfling kin. Hearing talk of carrying the unfortunate, he quickly seeks the lead, retracing the party's original path, keeping an eye out for danger.

Re: Quest #12 "Rapping With The Village People"
Seeking Out Storm The Halfling, And Then The Village People
Moonday, 1st of Goodmonth
Late Morning, Hot, Humid, Buggy
The group is glad to learn that the tight bundle in the log hides exactly what they were looking for. The Halfling inside it is not looking too good, however.
The stench is bad enough to turn your stomachs, making some of you wonder how the druid is still somehow drawing breath. Again, Brother Gilbert works his magic, reaching out to touch the inflicted body of the Halfling with his bare hand. The spell takes effect, bringing a bit more color to his unconscious face. The priests healing powers knit up and mend a few of the worst bites and cuts, but it is not enough to bring the poor soul back around.
Assuming that Storm will now need to be carried to town where he can get the proper rest he needs, Lightfinger starts to determine the fastest way back to Beachtown. As the party decides who will actually do the carrying, they begin to make out an unsettling noise from further up the loggers trail to the northwest. The noise is awful to hear and sounds like a wild animal in distress, possibly being beaten........or eaten. It is not very loud, so you must assume that it is coming from a long ways off up the wide trail.

Avaala the Grey
Avaala puts on a wry smirk. "You mean the large carnivores on the island occasionally eat something other than us?" He does not slow down to investigate, however.

Sees if the bottom half of the log will make a sufficient stretcher. It it does, he'll volunteer to carry one end or drag it.

Lightfinger jumps at the animalistic sounds.
He glances back at his comrades until he's certain they don't mean to investigate. He leads on, tho grumbling a bit. He's a Hairfoot! He mutters, Great, just great. Hairfoots and Stouts. Stouts and Hairfoots. When will a Tallfellow grace my company? He turns to Monocar briefly. They call us "Elflings," you know. Not at all sophisticated.

Monocar
Looks at Lightfinger in his usual confused manner. "Wouldn't it be Hairfeet? Mmmmmm... Stout. I could go for a good stout about now. I like Randall's grog and all, but Man, a good stout would be great." The young man perks up. "On the way to Saltmarsh I stopped at this one inn... and they had a big room stocked with ice that they harvest off the lake in the winter. Everything they kept int here was cold! I had a cold stout! In the middle of the summer! Can you imagine? A tall glistening glass of black stout,
the cool liquid flowing down your throat and putting a shiver down your spine. It was wonderful! Oh, just think of how awesome that would be in a place like this? Hey!" Monocar turns and looks at Chauncy. "Do you think that magic crayon of yours would be able to do that? Can we draw a building full of ice and cold stout? Now that would be magic!"

Chauncey regards Monocar blankly for a moment, blinks once, then replies: ”No,” he says.
