Earthday, The 25th of Reaping
Late Morning, Hot, Muggy, Buggy
Luther pokes around at the ground a little more, looking closely at the singular pock holes in the dirt. The marks are not deep, but they are about the diameter of a common broomstick. With this information, the ranger guesses that the insects that made them must be about 3 or 4 feet long or so. Definitely not your garden variety sized insects, but not big enough to swallow a man whole either.
The nervous party members begin to spread themselves apart a little further in case they are set upon by one of these creatures who made the mushy puddle that may have once been a man. Jack trots off into the bush alone a little ways as the others stretch out their line.
Jack decides to look around in the trees alongside the trail. The thick jungle makes it hard to travel as fast as the others still on the trail. The elf boy sees more of the pock marked tracks in the undisturbed dirt, indicating that at least some of the bugs aren't too large to travel off the trail if they need to. He does hear a lot of buzzing noises in the thick bush however. Unfortunately, its the same noises he's been hearing since he came to this floating, green infestation.
As Luther flicks through the remains and checks around for splash damage, he begins to hear strange chittering noises over the usual cacophony. They are coming towards the group from further up the trail. Lightfinger instinctively slips into the greenery alongside the trail as the noises approach.
