Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Lack Of Leadership
Starday, 20th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Sunny, Warm, Humid
Maag repositions his junk to a less precarious area, waiting to catch one of his comrades as they lower themselves down from the edge. When he looks up the shaft, all he sees are expressions of doubt stretched across their faces. He and Gramble suddenly notice a rectangular void in the shaft wall, just below the floor where a thick stone slab is starting to close off the top of the shaft. Luckily, Gramble’s huge trophy head strapped across his gear is still glowing enough to keep them in a dim light as they continue to descend. Alone.
Still at the top of the shaft, Alordan calls for rope, even though he doesn’t see anywhere to tie one off in this oddly shaped room. Lerrick and Tlachtga also notice the mechanically driven stone slab sliding across the opening, starting to close off the top of the shaft. All three of them judge the now 15 foot drop to their muscular members to be too far to risk jumping in. So, they seem content to leave them to their fate.
The shaft continues to slowly close over their 2 sinking friends. So unless a decision to follow is made immediately, it appears that the pair will soon be lost, leaving the party even more divided. On a whim, Lerrick suddenly looks behind her at the opening to this supposed “treasure room”. She is horrified to see that the secret wall that opened up for them, allowing them entry into this room initially, is also mechanically resetting, slowly closing the three of them inside now as well.
Actions?
Sliding into the shaft now will require a Very Hard Dex check [5d6]. Thanks!

Tlachtga
Tlachtga pulls her silk rope from her pack, loops it over her torch and tries wedging it into the corner created by the sliding door and the hole. Then she holds on and drops over the edge with a prayer.

Alordan watches Tlachtga slide into the hole.
"SHIT!"
How do i get myself into these situations?!? he thinks.
He quickly puts his pack on and gets on his belly. He slides his legs over where there isn't a statue and tries to brace the fall by minimizing the drop....

Lerrick
The cleric will not be left in the room by herself. She looks down for a spot to jump and sees the glowing head scraped to Gramble's back. In calm but loud voice. Gramble and Maag. I am going to jump to you. Can you please drop you weapons and catch me. She waits for a second, says a quick prayer, then crouches low before jumping towards the glowing Gramble.
note: I said crouch this time instead of crotch.
Very hard dex check [5d6] = ?
I'm at a location where I'm allowed to post, but not perform the dex check. I'll be able to do it in 2 hours. Otherwise, someone else can roll the dice (Please roll low thank you)

This would have been less painful had you all jumped in right away.
Can I get Very Hard Strength checks from Maag and Gramble now, please?

Maag hears someone call his name and a bunch of stuff he can't make out. He looks up just in time to see an overly-optimistic Lerrick falling towards him shouting "Catch me!"
"WOT DER FU...?"

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Plunge Of Faith
Starday, 20th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Sunny, Warm, Humid
As soon as she notices they will be trapped in this room, Lerrick calls down a warning and leaps feet first into the shaft. She quickly drops towards her fellow comrades already inside. Alordan knows he must follow suit, even though his common sense intensely resists the move. He lets go of the edge of the floor, and plummets into the rapidly closing shaft next.
Tlachtga yanks out her rope and a torch, but has little time to construct anything complicated. The opening in the floor is nearly closed completely by the time she is ready to repel, so she just turns the torch sideways at the top of the opening and hops inside the shaft, hoping a torch will hold her weight. It doesn't, but at least the attempt slows her fall slightly.
With all three of the lagging members now falling the nearly 20 feet onto the heads of Magg and Gramble, still balanced precariously upon the heads of the minotaur statues, you can bet the chance of pain is 100 percent. The stout fighters try to catch Lerrick, and fail. Her body slips past them and wedges in between two statues near the floor of the sinking platform. Alordan falls directly on top of Gramble, knocking him off of his perch. They both tumble into the pointy horns and axes of the statues below and nearly crush Lerrick when they hit the floor.
Maag tries to stop the rapidly approaching form of their druid as she also knocks him from his elevated position before he can impede her fall very much. All in all, the damage could have been much worse, as every one of the members somehow stays conscious through the ordeal, but none of them come out unscathed and some are nearly spent completely again. What might be even worse, the platform they are now laid out on, jammed in between heavy stone statues, seems to pick up speed even more under the added weight as it continues to descend down the shaft, the floor above now completely sealed off by the closing cover.

Lerrick
The cleric falls past the two fighters and hits the floor with a sickening thud, wedged between two statures. Before the pain of the fall registers in her brain, both Gramble and Alordan smash into her. She momentarily blacks out. Coming to her senses the pain is unbearable. She struggles not to scream. Knowing that she is close to death she manages to ask...Can someone help me up...

"Lookin' back," says Maag, still laying on the floor, waiting for the stars in front of his eyes to disappear. "I can now see a flaw in der plan. Tryin' to move der disk wivvout knowin' wot we woz gonna do when it actually moved...yer...dat is definitely a flaw."
He climbs to his feet and offers his hand to Lerrick to pull her up. Looking at the wall going by, he offers another opinion. "Yer know, dis is probably one of der times dat it might actually be useful to 'ave Andron 'ere. Den again, after a fall like dat 'e would be unconcious an' we'd 'ave to lug 'im around all der time". He shrugs. "Wot yer gonna do?"

"Whew, didn't think I was gonna make it for a moment there. Bit sore, but gonna live."

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
Alordan is slow to get up after his fall. Ever doubtful that this was the right move. As the platform continues to fall, it dawns on him that maybe he wouldn't have been trapped in that room. When the lights went out, it would have probably teleported him out into the maze somewhere. Well, probably.

Re: Quest #21 "Island Hopping"
The Elevator To....
Starday, 20th of Goodmonth
Mid Morning, Sunny, Warm, Humid
The platform continues to drop rapidly, the smooth, greasy walls of the shaft whizzing past as the party tries to un-pile themselves after their plunge. Once they reach about 50 feet down, the dais suddenly stops with a fairly heavy crash that jolts the statues still pressed down upon the disks. Luckily, the crash isn't bad enough to cause any more injuries to the already badly damaged party. Tlachtga's torch just misses hitting her in the head as it falls. Broken in half, she finds that it would be reusable if she could somehow bind the two parts back together again.
At the bottom of the shaft, a wide hallway opens up before the group, terminating after 30 feet with a large ornate door that contains writing and what looks like an exaggeratedly large keyhole of some kind. There is a small sign affixed to the hallway wall, just past the shaft. Chiseled in a decorative script in the common tongue are the words: Caution! This elevator resets automatically after 30 seconds.
Like the hidden room above, the stone walls, floor, and ceiling of this area are worked smooth and constructed with great craftsmanship, unlike the tunnels and chambers you've seen elsewhere on the ground level. There is a soft glowing magical light that illuminates this entire area. Looking up before anyone moves, the stone slab that has sealed you inside is clearly still in place at the top of the dark shaft.
