Finding nothing more than the dead end and another disk, Jaxsen turns and begins heading down the slope. "Onward, then, I suppose." He starts heading down the slope, accompanied by Brother Gilbert, when....
...Avaala speaks up. "No!" he says. "We need to at least consider what we are seeing in the inscriptions on these disks. These are roadsigns, or warnings or some such." The mage shrugs, "These could save a life and we just take a peek and drop them in a backpack!"
There is perhaps a meaning to the location of the symbols on the disks to traps or door opening levers. I shall consider this. If any of you think of something, please say so.
Jax continues forward, down the slope, watching carefully for any sign of a trap. His halberd is at the ready. As he nears the bottom of the slope, the head of the halberd comes up, so as not to alert anyone around the corner that they are there.
I have started a move already, so if this has to wait, I understand.
When he reaches the bottom of the slope, Jaxsen looks at the wall in front of him very carefully. He is looking for signs of a door, trap components, or anything else of interest. He has not forgotten the different spikes pointing this way, and wants to look for any corresponding items on this side of the wall.
Avaala, noting that the slope might drop below the floor they are walking on, allows himself a hopeful sigh. He has no desire to cross paths with the spider creature that tried to eat Rollo again, and putting a stone floor between them and the open canopy above seems like a good start. He continues to stay between the two dogs, both to keep them out of trouble, and to bolster his own physical safety as well.
When people start moving down the slope, Maag steps back into the area of the gate, just in case something really does pop out of the wall and roll down the slope.
Inside The Wooden Structure
What Is This Place?
Freeday, 5th of Goodmonth
Early Afternoon, Hot, Humid
After a short discussion about the disks and their possible purpose, the group decides to move along to see what lies around the next corner.
Brother Gilbert let’s Jaxsen lead the way. Bralm's follower keeps a sharp eye out for any traps, since the group can clearly remember the skewed spikes in the last sunken pit they saw. Avaala keeps the dogs close as he and Gramble follow behind the lead pair, with Jeevus and his journal right behind the large fighter. Judson and Maag bring up the rear of the order, though Maag seems to sense that something terrible might be about to happen. He actually steps back out of the passage once the others descend, convinced that something is going to pop out of a wall and roll down to crush all of them.
He is almost correct.
About half way down the slope, somewhere in the tangle of paws and feet padding across the floor, the group hears the telltale click of a missed trap trigger go off. Before there is any chance to react, the branches and vines overhead suddenly swing down towards you as a shower of large rocks and thick jagged logs rain down upon the center of the group.
I need a Save vs. Breath from everyone except Maag, please. Add rolls for any animals and hirelings you have as well. Thanks, and good luck!
