Quest #8 "Bring Me The Sea Monsters Head"
Re: Quest #8 "Bring Me The Sea Monsters Head"
Jack, lost boy:
Ignored by the grownups as usual, Jack loudly repeats himself so he can be heard: "I said, we should use the big log spear trap to kill the sea monster!"

Luther
The ranger grins at Raythan. Bait isn't a problem- I'm sure Jack here would volunteer just for the adventure of it all! He laughs loud and long.
Just kidding Jack! Nobody is going to be bait- because any bait we use is likely to get shredded.
Let's look at your suggestion, tho- If we did try to use the log trap trick again, we'd need convenient trees to rig it from, and some way to draw the beast onshore. He looks around to the rest of the crew. Do you fellas think we can make that happen? A dummy loaded with the stinkbait I've been collecting _might_ draw it onshore- but we'll need it attached to a rope, with someone dragging it across the beach.
His brow wrinkles in thought. Let's go look at that part of the beach and see what can be seen. I can get scrounging after.
With this, Luther heads toward the area where they fought the troll.

Monocar
"i had an idea of making a scarecrow out of some wicker baskets stuffed with chum ans dressed in some of the discarded clothes at the Hi-Lo. Might make a tempting lure for reeling him in. If we can get him at least close enough to get the hooks in him and wench him on shore, maybe we can at least make him prone. I wonder if we leave him out of water long enough in the sun if hed dry out like a fish."

Re: Quest #8 "Bring Me The Sea Monsters Head"
Monocar again suggests making a chum dummy out of wicker baskets and discarded clothing, of which he has neither.
Luther decides to take charge of the assembled troll hunters, suggesting a trip back to the scene of the last attack before doing his foraging. He begins heading up the beach shortly after breakfast.
Little Jack hurry's after the ranger, remembering what happened to the last person that walked the beach alone.
If anyone else is going along, speak up soon.

Alordan is happy to follow the group to scout for a good location for a potential trap and avenge the gruesome death of his comrade. He brings the hooks and ropes along.

Looks to Jack and grins. "that's the plan, little buddy. What do you say? Want to help us make a troll donut?"
To Luthar. "So do you think we could use one of your fishtraps for the chum dummy? Stuff the guts in it? There is enough deadfall and timber leavings from the other day to fashion the rest of the lure. They have a pile of free clothes at the Hi-Lo we could dress it up with to give it some realism."
He also welcomes the new arrivals as they come.

Sure- if we can make it work. If the trees are in the wrong place- or too far from the water, that'll queer the whole plan.

Jack, lost boy:
If the group passes the log trap they built to kill the giant crab, Jack will find some brush to camouflage it from the sea monster's eyes.

Re: Quest #8 "Bring Me The Sea Monsters Head"
Post Breakfast Beach Walk
Waterday, 24th of Reaping
Mid Morning, Getting Hotter and More Muggy
Luther rustles up a few brave friends to go out to search the area where they fought the sea monster. They pass the crab spear trap that they set up just outside of town. Jack takes a little time to cover up the area with brush, even though the troll has never been seen this close to town before.
After a 2 hour morning walk up the beach, Luther, Jack, Monocar, and Alordan spot the bloody sand where their elf friend Devrin last stood. They remember that vicious attack all too well and shudder to think that they are still trying to go after this dangerous beast. No new troll tracks are seen in the sand and the ranger finds little other new activity in this area.
After looking around at the sand for a wile, the group spots nothing out of the ordinary and sees no sign that the green 10 foot tall monster has even been back around these parts since their battle.
Actions?

This is a problem... Luther rumbles, scratching in his beard. We may need to scout up and down the beach- Ugly looks like he's found new hunting grounds. Unless he's still feeding on... Luther trails off, looking embarrassed at what he was about to say.
So, we'll range up and down the beach- in pairs- looking for any sign of the ugly fucker. Jack, stay on the landward side- you're too easy to snatch up and carry away.
Before the group scatters to search, Luther will give them a brief description of plants that can be used to make fish poisons. If they can collect enough of those, it might be another weapon to use against the troll.

So, Luther and Jack head east and Monocar and Alordan head west?

Alordan seeing nothing of interest just yet suggests they head back to regroup with the rest of the party. "Nothing has changed here - let's return to prepare and return in greater numbers to deal with this beast..."

At the sight of the approaching ship, Jack loses interest in searching the beach. "I'll be right back!" he shouts to Luther and he scampers inland, and then back toward the town dock.

Re: Quest #8 "Bring Me The Sea Monsters Head"
Alordan, probably a little bit behind the excitable boy, takes note of the dwarves curious behavior and is reminded of the story of the previous visit by dwarves and their curious behavior. He'll make eye contact with one of them before approaching. When noticed, he'll nod and calmly make his way over to welcome them to the island....

Avaala
Seeing Alordan and Monocar, Avaala (and Rollo)stop running. "Please gentlemen, I need help. Several children wandered off to the west beaches and haven't returned. It's been long enough to worry people and I was asked to look into it. I want to help, but I thought it wiser to get help. Please. I already have some others." He says pointing at Chauncey and others who followed him.

Looks alarmed at the news and looks at Luthar. "Troll." Remembering the comment about the troll may have moved to another hunting ground thr big man has the terrifying thought of the troll picking off the children and doesnt wait for another word. He begins rushing in the direction Avaala indicates knowing others will follow in his wake or even overtake his pace.
