Torches are lit and distributed. The hallway is composed of the same sandstone as the room they just left.

Flintlock taps the door to the right with his gavel, sealing it.

The Princess experiments with her wand. The torch itself is rendered transparent, but the flame is not. It continues to radiate light.

Proceeding to the left, after 15' the hallway opens onto a room filled wall-to-wall with tight rows of blood-red ceramic urns. There are about 60 urns in total. The are stoppered and sealed with lead.

The Crooked Theodolite: The room is 20'x30', and 25' tall.

"What a queer collection of urns," whispers the Princess. "I can think of no explanations for their amassment that do not involve an unscrupulous and devious mind."

Per standard protocol, she touches her wand to the closest three urns to see what is inside.

Jake carefully picks up an urn and shakes it, hoping to guess what's inside by the sound.

Seeing others investigate the urns, Flintlock wants to try the game by smashing one with his maul. He thinks better of it though. Instead, he looks for exits.

We were going to gavel-lock the pirates' door too, right?

Sealed with lead...hmmm. Horton mutters to himself as he tries to recall what things would be sealed in this way.

Splinter shakes his head and recovers his wits. Let the pirates be, I say. They paid their price and they are not coming back. Let's turn the other way and see what we can find.
I run a blog. I also run a site for campaign wikis. I wrote a face generator, a character generator, a dungeon mapper, a Traveller subsector generator, and a hex map generator (editable as text).

Apologies for not being clear. The party sealed the door to the portal room, entering a hall with a closed door to the right and an open doorway to the left.

Since the party heard a door close when the pirates fled, it must have been the door to the right. Flintlock has sealed it.

The urn room does not have any exits leading out of it, so you may have sealed yourselves into a dead-end. But at least you can explore it without fear of interruption.

Not finding any obvious exits, Flintock looks for hidden exits, cubby holes, etc. Behind and/or under urns (if the weakling can even lift them) or shelving. If nothing turns up, he will express his disappointment and urge the others to follow the pirates.

The Princess' wand reveals the vessels to be full of a dark, amber-colored substance. Jake's careful shaking producing the languorous sloshing of a very viscid liquid. Each urn weighs about 15 pounds.

Horton recalls that lead is not unheard of as a sealant, due to its low melting temperature. Actual funereal urns are sometimes sealed with lead, as are many reliquaries.

Flintlock does not find any thing of note behind the urns or shelving.

Map update...

Shaken by his chilly brush with the portal tapestry, Deet follows the others into the room of urns, but keeps a watch by the corridor, musket and Schroff at the ready.

The Princess grows tired of the urns and returns to the hallway. She presses her ear to the magically sealed door, listening, and even spies through the door with her wand.

Jake

It might be honey... but why would they seal it with lead? We probably should just leave them alone... Jake replaces the urn and searches the rest of the room, making sure there aren't any hidden doors.

The Princess' wand reveals another dark room, piled with mouldering rags. There is a door on the other side of the room, which has been left ajar, allowing some light to drift in.

Being sure at least one member of the party is ready to harken forward, Flintlock ostentatiously unseals the door the pirates fled through. Allow me to work my magical gavel on this door.

Deet looks somewhat uncertainly between his companions in the room of urns and those by the now unsealed door, then limps down the hall to join the Princess, Schroff trotting at his heels.

W-why are we going after the pirates? Horton holds his torch to offer light but stands back, afraid of another fight.

Wikerus is anxious not to get separated from the others, but will systematically tap tap tap on as many of the urns as he can before running after them, looking for a change in sound that would indicate an odd urn with differing contents.

Flintlock won't perform his action until everyone is satisfied with other options. I was reading the narrative as if the only way forward is to follow the pirates. If others find a different path, or want to do more with the urns, he will wait.

The urns appear systematically identical. Each urn investigated weighs, resounds to tapping, and sloshes identically to all the others.

No other exits are found. The only two doors in this area are the sealed door to the portal room, and the sealed door to the room of rags. Flintlock holds his prized gavel, ready to unseal the door when the party consents.

As the party considers their options, a shadow enters the room of rags. A massive white-furred ape, 8 feet tall and bearing 4 muscular arms, drudges into the room, bearing a massive metal hamper. It dumps more rags out and begins to turn back, when the flickering torchlight shining through the transparent door catches its eye.

Princess Dormillon may attempt a DEX save to snatch her wand away before the party is spotted.
