I'm leaving for a couple weeks holiday. I'll be living in a tent and doing the stupid holiday things y'do, so I'd ask for Deet & Schroff to be NPCed if I'm not reacting. I'll have a look in when I can, but can't guarantee much.

Enjoy!

Regarding the current situation, I think my main goal would be to kill the shark man. That's the most important part. To lead him into every trap we've seen and hope he falls for it.
I run a blog. I also run a site for campaign wikis. I wrote a face generator, a character generator, a dungeon mapper, a Traveller subsector generator, and a hex map generator (editable as text).

I wonder if we should do more of playing up the treasure to be had and not the dangers ahead. If it sounds too dangerous, he may force us to go first to soak off the danger so he can step over the bodies to get the goodies. At least, that's how I'd do it.

Haven't had a chance to post an update, yet. If you don't mind, I'll push it off until Friday. It's the week before a new semester begins, and everyone woke up from their summertime slumber in a state of absolute panic.

I never panicked when I was in school- but then again, I was the world's lousiest student....

Nope! You are unconscious and and in peril, but as long as someone gets to you and treats you within the hour, you'll recover your hp. The lost STR will come back more slowly.

I think I'm not going to switch to extra aiming, since the d12 instead of the d8 isn't worth it: no aiming is 4.5/2 damage/round = 2.25 damage/round and with aiming it is 6.5/3 damage/round = 2.17 damage/round. Weird, I had never thought about that before.

Elsewhere, you noted that firing into melee triggers a DEX Save to avoid shooting the wrong person. I'm assuming that you'll be handling that when you think this is what Splinters is doing? Since my DEX is just 11, I think Splinters would try to avoid that as much as possible. 55% chance isn't good enough odds.

You also wrote that balls and powder are finite resources, but this will be dealt with in a vague, hand-wavey narrative kind of way. I trust you're waving your hands? Alternatively, we might roll some sort of save after the fight to see whether I have one last bullet left? A WIS Save, perhaps? My WIS is 9.

Thanks for doing the math on shots per round!

I'm not worried about shooting into melee at the moment, because the ape is huge, and I figure it's easy enough to aim well over the heads of the other combatants.

When firing into melee, I could see asking either the shooter or the potential accidental target to roll the DEX save, depending on what felt right in that circumstance.

I'm not concerned about ammo, yet. You haven't really shot your musket that often since leaving camp. A WIS check for ammo hadn't occurred to me, but it might make sense. For things that don't involve character agency, I'm fond of a simple d6 roll to determine how well or poorly things are going. But it's an interesting question of whether or not a prudent character would be able to conserve ammo enough to make a mechanical difference.

Kind of good timing, really. I was on holidays 2 weeks, I was back long enough for Deet and Schroff to get knocked out, then I was sick for a week, and in a few days I go on holidays for a couple more weeks.

So for now, just count me out. It's been a fun mess with you guys, and I wish you the best of luck finding the wizard, or whatever your goal is. :) I may rejoin in a few weeks when I'm back and life has settled somewhat again.

On Questions of Enthusiasm, Entropy, and the End which awaits All Things

So, posting rates have been dropping off, to the point where I'm often NPC'ing more characters than not. Is this a sign that this game is winding down? Should we be thinking about bringing this game to a graceful close? Or is it just a lull?
