Kurt takes his uniform and continues on down to where he is next directed.

Hans let down feeling surely Kurt's father being a judge would've helped the situation grudgingly takes the uniform and follows his "master's" dolt of a son.

As the party heads over to the Quartermaster's Tent, led by Horton, they see a diminutive wooden boy, dressed in a blue jacket and blue shorts and with bright red circles painted on his cheeks, sprinting out of the tent's flap.

Inside the tent, the Quartermaster is yet another Toy Soldier, this one sporting a green visor and and a pencil tacked behind one ear. Looking up from a dusty ledger, he says to you: "Ah. I was just informed of your arrival. You may strip. The enlisted men will receive..." The Quartermaster pauses and produces a harsh rasping noise—the Toy Soldier equivalent of clearing one's throat—"Sword, wooden, one. Scabbard, leather and tin, one. Hat, artificial beaver pelt, one. Grub-bowl, tin, one. Spoon, tin, one. Coat with buttons, paint, one. Trousers, paint, one. Boots, Hessian, paint, one.

"You will be responsible for maintaining your equipment, and your selves, as Army property, in excellent condition. Sign here, for receipt of said equipment."

The Quartermaster looks at you sharply, and waits for each enlisted to sign off before proceeding.

Hans raises his hand "Uh sir paining uniforms on us won't work very well as we are flesh men. We would need real clothing sir."

Kurt nods as Hans speaks "Yes painted clothing would show all of our bared parts openly and leave us far more unprotected."

Horton nods curtly to the quartermaster. Sir, the major was clear on our orders. He didn't want any wasted time what with new flesh recruits and all. They can get what equipment they can and skip the paint so we can get out on our scouting mission post-haste. We have a chance to get the jump on the rats for good and all. The princess awaits, no? So we'll be out of your hair now. We appreciate your efficiency.

Horton extemporizes in an attempt to get everyone back out of this awful camp without causing any animosity. He finds military protocol and personages so relentlessly tiresome so his current brusque facade is like a dagger in his weary soul. Perhaps the rats were looking for recruits as well?

'Shaggy' Beaker

thinks about leaving Mouse in the care of the camp medics but doubt he'll get the help he needs. Still he might be better here than carted elsewhere. Looking at the quartermaster stores, what can he see medical wise, thinking linen strips, bandages, sticky glue might wedge up stab wounds, perhaps some oil in a flask too.

Beaker will fill his satchel with whatever he can 'grab or blab' from the stores and then check on Mouse.

I think leaving him to sleep and heal up the best idea, the soldiers probably years into battle won't be overwhelmed and Mouse can recover to find us later...

The tent is fairly narrow, with the Quartermaster's desk blocking easy passage into the main part of it. Behind the desk are wooden crates, most with their tops pried off and excelsior fluffing out of their tops. From some of the nearer crates, you see battered tin dishes, a chipped tea service, reams of yellowed, brittle-looking paper, and a stack of small, leather-bound books. Several dozen swords in scabbards are bundled right behind the desk, along with several dozen 10' poles. A crowbar is propped against the desk itself. On the desk are the Quartermaster's ledger, four pots of paint (red, black, white, and gold-flecked yellow), a handful of brushes of various sizes, and the previously listed equipment for the four enlistees (sword, hat, dish, and spoon).

The Quartermaster contrives to express shock and befuddlement at your responses. "Flesh? No paint? This is highly irregular!"

He starts and sputters, looking at the party, back at his ledger, at a scrap of paper in his hand, back to the party, only to repeat the cycle again. After several confused takes, he stutters, "L-leave your jackets and pantaloons here. I'll see what I can do with them. In the meantime, take you swords, wooden, one; scabbard, leather and tin, one; hat, artificial beaver pelt, one; grub-bowl, tin, one; and spoon, tin, one. Wholly unprecedented, I do say. Then, it's not scouting before you. That soldier," he points at Jake, "is incomplete. See the Sawbones. The rest of you look, to speak with utter frankness, portray the stained and dishevled appearance of something the rats dragged out. Rest and recuperation. You are duty-bound to maintain Army property in peak condition."

As Beaker attempts to push past the Quartermaster's desk and delve further into the tent of supplies, he squeals, "You there! You are not permitted among the goods! You must be the Duke's man, hmm? Duke... Gretna, was it? You may petition me for any supplies, and I will assign them based on the appropriate criteria. For now, I can provide you with cots, folding, canvas, two; blankets, wool, two; mirror, small, metal one; washing bowl, pewter, one; water-pitcher, pewter, one; grub-bowls, tin, two; and spoons, tin, two. That will be sufficient to establish you and your retinue in a tent to be assigned. If you will kindly wait, here," he indicates the area before the desk, "I will retrieve them for you. You will have to sign for receipt."

If anyone wishes to attempt to lift any objects while the Quartermaster is busy collecting Beaker's items, please roll vs. DEX on a 1d20.

Jake scrawls on the Quartermaster's reciept, collects his junk, and hobbles off to see the Sawbones again, hoping the 'man' won't try to nail a new leg onto his hip.

Vanis takes a look around camp and goes to find something useful to do: fetch gear for busy soldiers, polish wood, clean stuff, etc. He keeps an eye out for his buddies and mumbles about bad life decisions and their effect on one's physical and mental health.

Wikerus soon finds he is just as bad at soldiering as anything else. At least the standing around waiting part. Also the sitting around. And lying around. Conversation is no good - none of the wooden enlisted men seem to get his jokes. At all. Somehow he'd imagined more heroics. The most exciting thing that'd happened so far was that he almost got his nether regions painted bright blue. And that was the first day...
