Please check the house rules thread, which describes what happens when you hit zero HP.
For right now, you are unconscious, and still at 0 HP. You will be unable to fight, speak coherently, or move unassisted until you regain at least 1 HP. I rolled a 4 for your death check, which means you will regain 1 HP in 1d4 hours. Until then, you can be killed automatically in 1 round by any adjacent enemy who cares to do so.

I'm on vacation this week so I don't know how much posting I will be able to do.
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Only missed by 1 on the ogre...and a natural 20 on the friendly fire roll. :( Sometimes the dice gods are against you.

Don't forget the 1 in 3 chance that Ampersand et al's miss would target an ally instead of the ogre.

Lots of rolls went bad for that to happen.

Yeah, it was worth a shot to hit the Ogre.

A little strategizing here.

The kobolds told us that goblins and neighboring hobgoblins are not on good terms. It seems to me the ogre was the great equalizer in this conflict for the goblins, and we just took him out.

Maybe we could use this to our advantage and get the hobgoblins to do our dirty work for us? The hobgoblins very well may be weakened in the fray, making them easier to take out in the aftermath.

Any ideas how we might do this? It could be as easy as pinning a note to the ogre head, leaving it outside their lair, knocking and running. Or we could parley.

Thoughts?

Several of us are wounded, some badly. We also have several hundred coins to carry and a cask. Maybe we should head back to the Keep and start again when everyone is back to health.

Maybe the Ogres head is worth some kind of bounty at The Keep?

I think that is a good idea Bloodaxe.

With the Ogre now Dead- If the Goblins decide to see what loot the Ogre had, we are in trouble. Now some chanting cult......we need to regain our strength. Some of our members are at 1HP- one hit and they are dead. Lets grab the loot and split- come back later.

Quick notice to everyone; I goofed, and have been putting the wrong date for 10 pages. I just went back and corrected; you left on the 20th of Shining, but it takes about a day's travel to get to the Caves, and it is now the 21st.

I think we can instigate something between the two camps as we leave at a minimum of risk, especially now that we have an invisibility potion & maybe a supporting illusion from Ampersand. I'll post a plan later this evening or tomorrow a.m.

Hmmmmm.......I'll have to look and see who is injured and how badly, but I think 3 members are down to 1 HP.

The quick reference sheet is up to date (though I don't have your 2 hireling lackeys on there). Quick recap:

Sham is in good shape (7/8 HP)
Henry is lightly wounded (4/6 HP)
Lardo is nearly dead (1/4 HP)
Cormac is moderately wounded (4/9 HP)
Geert is moderately wounded (2/4 HP)
Ampersand is hale (3/3 HP)
Eglistrum is hale (3/3 HP)
Saeros is lightly wounded (4/6 HP)

Kal is hale (4/4 HP) and Kyle is nearly dead (1/3 HP)

So...3 plus a hireling are doing fine, 4 are wounded to varying degrees, and 1 plus a hireling are very badly injured.

Im fine with going back to the keep (maybe with the goblin ears AND Ogre head?) and getting refitted and reequipped (maybe some more spikes and oil)

Question: We've got a few who could use healing, do we chance it with my one spell, and maybe use the scroll, or heal one person, and make a break for it, keeping the scroll as a backup? With my having only one spell, it's nice to have the scroll just in case we need it. But I'd hate to run for it and we get busted down by hobgoblins or whatever.

I'm fine with trying to split out of here.

Too many are badly injured. We need to rest up, somewhere.

That's 4 who've posted, all in favor of heading back...but Lardo said he had a plan. I'll give 1 more day for him to present it, in case you guys wanted to discuss, and for the others to chime in.

The plan is basically this:
• take the ogre head, if unguarded
• charm our goblin hostage
• give him the head and a handwritten note (in goblin) saying GOBLINS WEAK — STRIKE NOW and instructions to deliver both to the hobgoblins 30 minutes after we leave
• we split for safety
• come back in a few days and harvest ears

If getting the ogre head is too dicey, amend the note to say OGRE DEAD-GOBLINS WEAK-STRIKE NOW.

There's very little risk in this. It's worth a shot.

One minor snag...you lost your hostage. Nobody brought him with you when you fled through the secret door.
