To be clear, I wasn't advocating physical torture, just intimidation tactics.
My original thought was to take a prisoner with us. Then to rest/recover/regroup , cast a spell, question. Then rest/regain a new spell again (Sleep) before exploring more. Not when a horde of angry Goblins are in the next room. :D

If we dont decide soon, the Goblins may decide for us.

Ampersand Mxyzptlk Kerfuffle Humperdink Wongdoodle Biddleshaft the Third stands ready to lend an illusion to the cause.

If, y'know, anyone has an idea how a visual illusion might help. ;)

I say we fight. One big guy or a lot of little ones. I don't want to be surrounded.
Let's kill this thing.

I don't know... it's a big thing AND apparently a bear too. That's a lot to tangle with. I think now's a good time to run like hell.

Sure. What's the worst that can happen? We all roll up new PCs. ;)

Ampersand Mxyzptlk Kerfuffle Humperdink Wongdoodle Biddleshaft the Third might be able to sling an illusion to help us escape—or at least get the door closed. A fake fireball might get the big guy to pause a moment, for example.

Or we just fight and get our new PCs ready. ;)

I think it was just wearing a bear skin. Big guy, can't be a Giant.....I hope. Who would be so cruel as to have level 1 nobodies fight a Giant? ( ha, I did once) Ogre? We can take him!
I'm fighting! Been nice knowing you!
Let him come, there are several of us, we can all attack him, front sides, rear. He will only be able to attack one of us at a time.
Im attacking him. Dont fail me now DICE ROLLER GODS!

I'm assuming he's an ogre.

Probably should've questioned our hostage before opening the door, but that mule's already bolted the barn.

If I can maneuver behind him for a backstab while our frontline guys are keeping him occupied, I can deal some significant damage. We have 2-3 rounds tops to take him out before things get real ugly real fast.

Or use it to scare off the goblins — I'm worried they're going to mount their counterattack while we're tangling with this guy.

Henry has a torch, so at the first sign of goblins coming Henry can set that ablaze to buy some time. This could get ugly reaaaaaal fast.

Good idea.
The Wiz can use an illusion to hold off the Goblins if the oil doesnt work. Even if its just an illusionary enemy to get them to waste a volley of missiles or just stay in place.

Well, guys, I'm gonna bleed out now. It's been fun.

In the event this doesn't turn into a TPK, I'm open to rolling up a new character.

Maybe we started on the wrong foot. Maybe this ogre is just misunderstood and wants a hug. Maybe Henry will offer him a hug, high five or whatever.

Wait...what happened? Things are moving pretty quick. Lol. I would have attacked anyway. I'm out of town, be back tomorrow to post/roll. Monday night.

Unless circumstances prevent me from doing so, I update the game every 2 days; if anyone hasn't posted by then, I'll have them act according to set standards (see Gameplay Guidelines). If it's a situation that calls for too much player input (like, which way to go next) or where I don't feel comfortable choosing an NPC action, I'll delay longer; since this was a combat situation and everyone had fairly reasonable actions available, I felt okay advancing the action another round.

Woah, I thought I was a goner. Am I back on feet and able to fight (or flee), or do I need to rest?
