Greetings

#1 Post by Percival Moor »

Hi,
Presenting yourself isn't always easy, but I'll give it a shot here.
I started tabletop RPGs 30 years ago with Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay 1st edition, and since then, I've played and run many different games.
However, life being what it is, I haven't had the chance to sit at an RPG table for almost two years, so why not trying play-by-post RPGs?
At the moment, I'm more keen on playing sci-fi games, like Traveller or Star Trek, so I'll be on the look out for any opening that may happen here.
Anyhow, nice to meet you all.

Welcome Percival Moor!
Glad to have you at USS!
Play-by-post games, many of us here have found, scratch the RPG itch nicely! And there are definitely some sci-fi games on the forums here!
Be well and be welcome, and happy gaming!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

Thank you rredmond and GreyWolfVT.
You're right, that's definitely an itch that needs to be scratched, but I'm fairly patient, and I'l wait until a game that catches my eye opens up. I don't want to jump straight on into any game just for the sake of playing.

While we do have a Warhammer game here, or two (?) I was wondering if you've heard of ZWEIHÄNDER at all.
Figured I'd mention it, as while we are mainly an old school crowd of players (not completely, but mainly) we do like the new feel that clones and simulcra (like OSRIC or Labyrinth Lord) bring to our older editions of D&D. So this ZWEIHÄNDER, while I haven't read it, and honestly don't have too much in the way of Warhammer stuff, seems an interesting play on the first two editions of Warhammer. It looks interesting. It can be checked out here:

Good luck and welcome again!

rredmond, I've heard a lot of good things about zweihander, but as I lost interest in Warhammer-related games years ago, I didn't read this book. Concerning the old school-type of gamers, I think this is also something I'm looking for, as I am not. I usually tend to try out new games and systems, or at least I used to when I had more time, which means I never got to play more established names such as Traveller, something I deeply regret now.

Ah Traveller is pretty well represented here lately. My suggestion is to private message the following folks to see if they have openings, or are running the style of game you'd be interested in:

Eris
Keven
Frank

Good luck!

You're definitely in a great place here, and I think you'll find that play-by-post games will suit you well.

Hello ffilz, I'd absolutely love to join your game, as long as you don't mind taking somebody with zero-Traveller experience on board (I did purchase Cepheus Engine, but I don't know if that will be of any help).

Cepheus Engine will be useful to generally understand the game, but it's character generation is sufficiently different from Classic Traveller that it isn't very useful for that aspect in my campaign.

Also see my post in the looking for players or games sub-forum.

Welcome!
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.
