Hello from Jack!

#1 Post by jhrrsn »

Hey! I'm new here, and looking for some fun people to play some RPGs with! :)

My first RPG experience was D&D 2E, though I barely remember it to be honest (my friend's dad DM'd, I was about 12). I do have a disquieting memory of a carrion crawler, though...

Growing up I played a lot of 3.5E at a community hall, DM'd by a great guy who sold dog food for a living. We played a few other games during this time, including Call of Cthulhu. I may have also participated in a LARP, but the less said about that the better.

As an adult I play board games regularly with my friends, and we've also had good runs of Star Wars (the new Fantasy Flight system), 5E and Dungeon World - DM'd by me. I enjoy a range of games, but my favourites are Torchbearer and Freebooters on the Frontier (a DW hack). In different ways, both capture the deadliness & stress of adventuring in the wild and also avoid the power creep that can spoil more mainstream RPGs.

Anyway, I probably went on too long here - but hi!

Welcome Jack!!
We've got a two post moderation policy here at Unseen Servant, but after that you should be able to post without delay. It's an anti-spam measure we have to take - and spam is our Newman!
Again welcome and enjoy!

This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.
Alethan: I'm good with NOT pressing our luck this time.
mjulius: That's how I know I'm home.
Pulpatoon: The whole point of PbP is to take the scheduling pressure off the game. We're just chatty because we're so eager!
Scott308: ...everyone should be reminded of just how wonderful the people they play games with here can be in real life.
Leitz: Quality and quantity wise, I think US is the best I've seen.
Paladin: I can promise terror, glory, and riches...or a quick and brutal death.
Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

But no moderation policy as it relates to how much you are allowed to ramble, so ramble on!

Welcome to the Unseen Servant! Lots of good games going on, so find something you like and jump right in!

Cheers,

It actually looks like there might be a Torchbearer game starting: Torchbearer/Middarmark. You might want to check out that recruitment thread and see if it's something you'd be interested in.

Welcome aboard!
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.
