(003) At Home With the Luzan

#1 Post by Eris »

Present: Sidney Wong, Eddie Palin, William "Windy" McLoud, Bob "Baltazar" Cole, Cindy Wilson, Jack Kilgore

Being an evil Referee, I'm starting you, as prisoners being forced to work for a bunch of terrorists/pirates somewhere on Ruie. No gear, no money, not much in the way of hope...

Code: Select all

Days drag on when there isn't anything to do but work and sleep. It was almost as bad back when the Danny Boys had you as POW's here on Ruie, but then you thought you might get released sometime...now, now you just tried to stay alive and keep from making the Luzan thugs mad. Who knows what happened to the other folks at the camp. Commander Ting said they are all dead, and you're the lucky ones, but can you believe him. Nah! Can't believe anything the Luzan guys say, they're just damn what-a-be pirates, after all.

How long have you been here? Damn! It's been months. The two ships are almost repaired and the bastards aren't going to need you once you've finished repairs and trained your replacements. They say they'll let you go then. Yeah, they'll let us go alright!
Sidney opened her left eye a hair's breath and checked that the guard wasn't sitting behind the bars. He usually wasn't, but occasionally he was. He wasn't this morning. Good! Tapping on the metal wall next to her head had awakened her..."Tap, tap-tap.....tap, Tap...."

Windy was in the cell next to her and he wanted to talk. The guard was over there so he couldn't risk speaking out loud. He was asking how much longer before she had the Gunnery station repaired. Well, she thought she could stretch it out for another 3 or 4 weeks, but the Luzan were getting suspicious that she was dragging it out...beatings were getting more frequent.

Eddie wasn't in his bunk. Was he still working on that armature or had he disappeared now, too?

---

Eddie was tired, he was hungry and thirsty, but most of all he was mad as hell! He'd been working on rewinding the armature for this generator for hours and Dickface said he wouldn't get to eat, drink or sleep until he finished. The Luzan tech, if you could call him that, was sitting with his feet propped up on a big coil of cable picking his teeth with that pig sticker he carried. Eddit mentally calculated that he would get this job finished in an hour or so and then he could crash...he hoped.

Officially, there was a month, or two, of work still to do before this damn ship would be ready to fly. Actually, he had it all finished with just a few hours of work undoing the things he'd built in to make it look like there was still work to do on the power systems and the maneuver drives. Dickface would kill him if he figured it out, but he was as dumb as he was ugly, so he wasn't a concern. Eddie had his watcher figured out the first day he was here.

Dickface's boss, though, he was smart and mean, not just mean. Yeah, he was harder to fool and he was getting meaner, leaning on Dickface and Dickface was leaning on Eddie. He sure hoped that Windy and Baltazar had *something* figured out to get everybody out of here. They are saying that they were working on it, but it was getting harder. Six of our guys have already disappeared, dead without a doubt. There were six left, just six! The only place the six of us can actually talk to each other is in the showers and when the Luzan bastards are all at their "prayers" and we can whisper to each other through the cell bars. Damn! Windy and Baltazar had better have a break planned soon.

Dickface was eyeing him, don't make eye contact, think about gutting the bastard, but don't smile, and just keep winding that wire...

If either Jonathan or Frank think this is TOO evil a start, I'll retcon it away. This idea occurred to me last night and I thought I'd see if you want to give it a go.
