Zoggrot dodges the worst of the cannon blast. "Whatch where ye point that thing!" he growls back at the cannoneers.

Szmodics

Frisky down the Iberian sailors. Taking daggers and stuff and lining them up for Captain Lazarus to decide their fate. Then he will go below to help search the cargo and for the 'military secrets' kept aboard.

Rexlin

Busy trying to find a way to score a kill on the damn golem when he looks over just in time to see the Druid putting a match to the pan of the canon. Two thoughts go through him mind at once. 1. Damn genius! 2. Oh shit! He grabs Fishy my the scruff and drags him to the side. "HIT THE DECK!!!"

Hard DEX (13) [4d6] = 10

He yelps loudly as he catches some grapeshot in his arse. He starts roaring curses toward Pocc.

Once the soldiers below decks have all been dealt with, Siggard releases the powers of his furry friend back into his magical bag.

"We need to get that sea druid down here to see if he knows anything about these creatures. Lets leave this door alone for a minute until we can figure out how to stop that toothy clam from chewing another hole in this old girl."

The mage calls out up the stairs again with a little more seriousness in his voice this time. He winces after hearing the cannon fire on deck, wondering who would be foolish enough to fire a cannon into close quarters melee.

"Gin, Iggy, give me a hand trying to get this thing off the floor. I think there are more of these things beyond that door. If we let any more out before we figure out what these things are, we might be in trouble.

"WHERE IN THE NINE HELLS IS THAT DRUID HIDING? WAS HE KILLED IN BATTLE?"

The mage begins poking at the clam with his dagger, trying to see if he can pry it up off of the wood.

The mage is feeling especially strong today. If he still cant pry the thing from the floor, he has Gin and Iggy assist in the process.

Pascale bend bars [1d100] = 61
Iggway bend bars [1d100] = 97

several attempts to crowbar, tug, pull, push, all fail, the large clam, about the size of a dustbin lid and a wavy pyramid in shape remains steadfastly stuck to the floorboards of the decks. You continue to hear the faint grind of chattering teeth.

any other actions towards the limpet? or investigate the metal door? Szmodics you are coming down the stairs and see the team try to prise away the clam, any actions?

Szmodics

sees the others struggling and decides to opt for a more unconventional approach to solving the problem. He finds a round shot cannon ball and bowls it bouncing down the stairs to land on the creature.

bowling cannon ball into limpet shell. [1d20] = 11 will let you roll for damage, any + to hit for a stationary creature?

The Aftermath...

Siggard flexes his brawn and tries to lever the limpet from the floor. It resists his attempts and seems even more determined to cling on when heavy weight Van de Poel weighs in.

after several of the party try to dislodge the limpet from the cargo floorboards, Szmodics adopts a more rugged approach. The round shot cannon ball thuds heavily on each riser as if it was a golem lurching about. tottering on the last step it finally tips and rolls to crack open the shell of the limpet like a squished egg. The limpet goes squishy and a soft sound of air being released comes from the gummy lips as it relaxes the tension securing it to the floor. Szmodics can high-five his 'strike' whilst the others investigate the mix of mollusc and muscle splayed out. The underside of the dustbin lid sized limpet has a thick lip like seal and then several concentric rings of gnarled molar like teeth which lead to an open maw and the molluscs innards.

Buffalo Bill return to 'fluffalo phil' and is put back in the mages' drawstring pouch. He has made a right mess of the Iberian crew folk below decks. Gored and trampled they are also splayed out as much as the limpet, lying amid broken crates and small lockers. Whoever has to swab the decks below is in for a right treat! The metal door by the stern is still closed. Through the porthole you can see several more limpets, large clam shells stuck to the metal lined walls of the inner room. With the ebb of the barque you note the floor of the room must be flooded or perhaps is a pool of seawater. Does anybody try to open the door by turning the wheel mounted on the front?

On deck, Zoggrot, Rexlin and Geoffrey reel as splinters of molten grape shot ricochet from the impact with the golem and radiate in a fiery arc. They all roll away but have to spend a round peeling burning phosphorous from there exposed skins. (-6hp each please) Pocc the druid begins to makes his justifications for launching the point blank shot when he is overcome by exhaling the noxious fumes escaping from the peppered vents and ripped torso of the golem. Pocc collapses to the deck. His ettin snake, Roger and Gaston crawl limply from around his neck and feebly try to tap his face with concerned head-butts but to no avail, their 'animal companion' lies unconscious and struggling for breathe. Thick green mucus fills his lungs and airways, clogging his lungs. It is as if the poor man is drowning in his own fluid. Other sailors, men of 'Bloods Brothers', lie in a worst state, some ripped apart by the cannon shell, others whose life dangles by the merest of threads.

A conveyor belt of stretcher bearers is formed to attend to the needs of the crew, even Butcher Vayne is summoned to cast his blessings and triage the survivors. Captain Lazarus signals the men hoisting the flag of capture, saluting the crews bravery to storm the decks and claim the prize. Mr Perryman goes to address the surrendered sailors, put under an armed guard will 'pleasantries' are exchanged.

Everyone except Pocc who is unconscious and dying, post an action please.

Szmodics

Stepping over the mess of the limpet and through the entrails and gore of the dead, Szmodics lights his bulls-eye lantern to shed light in the place if the other sources are not enough. Last vessel had pistol snipers hidden before, so he will shine the cone of light in all the crannies and make his way to the metal door. Give the strange vault like door a once over for traps, any vents where gas may leak out, poison dart triggers, voltage shockers. If all clear he will open the door.

Zoggrot stares at the poisoned Pocc. Poetic justice for nearly getting us killed, he thinks.

"Let's see what shinies they had on board," he says as he motions his men toward the captain's quarters.

Siggard looks at Szmodics with a stern face, but decides against trying to scold the brute. Instead, he scoops up the remains of the huge limpet and its hard toothy shell, bagging them to study at a later date. If nothing else, it should make perfect feed for his sea critters.

Seeing the fighter going for the door is all the mage needs to excuse himself from the proceedings. He exclaims to anyone listening as he makes his way topside again with his bag of mucus."Take care with that door. If that whole chamber is filled with water, you may all drown down here before you solve this mystery."

Concerned for Gin and Iggy's safety, he turns around at the top of the steps so that he can watch what happens with the door. He calls out to anyone listening."Has anyone seen the druid? We may have something down here that he should look at."

Groans and gets up holding his rump. "I'm going to kill that damn... POCC!!!" He pushes past everyone and leaps over to Pocc after seeing him sprawled on the deck. Once he is standing over the druid he will check him and move him to the opposite side of the ship to "fresher" air. He will pour some water over the druid's face and try to get a little down his throat, or at least wash out the toxins from his mouth and otherwise stabilize him.

"GET THAT FAT BASTARD THE BUTCHER OVER HERE OR SOMEONE MAGICY! WE HAVE A MAN DOWN OVER HERE! WHERE'S IGGY?!"

He will stay with Pocc until he is conscious and seems stable.

Aftermath:

Captain Lazarus steps aboard the conquered Sierra Nevada, picking his way through the debris of broken crew and masts. Surveying the ship he expects repairs to make her sea worthy and able to move under her own sail to take many hours. He looks around at his skilled crew, a lot of whom have obtained injuries for their efforts in capturing the two Iberian vessels."Triage as best we can Mr Vayne, call on those settler womenfolk to help bind wounds, they can start earning their keep. Run the young wolves out to swab these here decks." Various orders go out and several,"Aye, aye Captain Sir,"get repeated along. Geoffrey is put to guard and interrogate the prisoners by the prow with Mr Perryman. There are nine survivors, four wrapped up in blankets after climbing aboard from being in the sea. They wear only marine trousers and sit barefoot with a stoic grim faced determination to say nothing. The other five are older sailors. The are fairly complaint to save their lives and scuttle around quickly anytime anyone shouts at them.

A crate load of potions, taken from the Infirmary get forcibly supped down the throats of the men suffering from the golem poison. Pocc, not physically injured except for the noxious chlorine he inhaled rouses groggily, staring into the sea deep blue eyes of the scowling devil Rexlin. (Pocc takes -3hp from the poisons effects to his lungs.) Rexlin can look around, 'Fishy' lies prone and bug eyed. He is stripped to his waist and Iggway is busy pumping the fluid from his lungs. With each furious push on his chest, more green mucus escapes from the sailors lungs. It is the first time you can note the fabled tattoos that he spoke in the St Eustatius tavern. Indeed they have a remarkable resonance of coral reef colours and topped by a bright Ocellaris clownfish.

Zoggrot draws his cutlass and points the way for the men to explore the officer quarters. He has to step over a couple of bodies to gain entrance and finds the doors unlocked but closed. Warily, Zoggrot pushes them open and steps inside... The main cabin look in very tidy order, A large stuffed mattress is 'made up as laid down in standing orders', each crease of the sheets and turn up of the blankets crispy done. Beside the bed stand a mirrored wardrobe which is full of large size silk shirts, ruffed court trousers and primped up jackets. Even a bedside cabinet has all the spare socks and underwear neatly folded and fragranced with nuggets of soaped perfume. Zoggrot's buccaneers grab a share of the silverware, portrait frames, tankards, carved animal models. A large graphite grey woolly skin, much bigger than any sheep or wolf may provide carpets the room. The window curtains blocked glazed windows which have colourful panes depicting the sea. Looking through the windows you can see a row of mirror like glass panes laid out on a veranda which glint as they catch the evening sunlight. In one corner a typical sea chest stands alone. The metal banded frame is of a thick iron plate, similar in colour to the dull metallic of the golem. It has a large padlock and is also decorated with runic pictures.

Siggard hesitates on the cargo stairs waiting for the impending doom of Szmodics unwisely opening the metal door. Not deluge happens, no traps go off. The door opens with a slight vacuum releasing hiss and without a creak, Szmodics can push it wide. Szmodics enters waving to the reluctant mage and his aides. Captain Lazarus follows below decks. As noted the door is raised above the level of the floor boards and does indeed contain a pool of seawater. The metal lined room is like a large D in shape, following the curve of the barques rear bow. The ceiling slopes down so it resembles a cave like space. It the water are rows of thick coral terraforma. Covering the sides of the artificial reef are several large clam like shells. A number of similar clams are stuck on the wall in neat rows except by the door where the rear wall has several distinctive brown stained rings marking where such clams previously occupied a space. One side of the pool has a raised area and alcove. It is bare except for a small plug type hole in the wall.

okay, everybody give me an action post please.

Zoggrot glances at the big rug. "Never trust a big rug," he says. "They're great at hiding things—traps, trap doors, and treasures. Pull it up and see what this one's got underneath," he tells his men. "I'll check the chest."

He skirts around the big rug to the sea chest and inspects the chest and lock for traps. If he finds none, he tries to pick the lock.

Siggard goes back down below with the captain, walking tall and adjusting his tartan as he descends the steps. He looks around with curiosity at the metal room and attempts to converse with Lazarus as to what this place actually is. He points out the large mushy pile of soldiers that he single handedly killed, still trying to impress the grizzled sailor.

"Sir, Captain sir! What do you make of this place? Ever seen anything like it before? I have an idea about what they may have used these clams for, but I have no idea if it is correct or not."

The mage stands proud for a moment with one more question for the captain.

"Sir, Captain sir! Have you put any thought into who will command your new vessel here, sir? Or.....should I say......Commodore, sir?"

The mage tries to show interest in taking up the command without looking too needy in the process. He knows full well that he has surely not been a consideration, but wants to portray confidence to his superior all the same.
