Pocc having spouted off the information feels exhausted and heads back aboard the ship after checking to make sure no more of the lamprey remain left to pry off the ship.

Rexlin

Surfaces again in a foaming and spurting commotion of Gaulese curses about big fish and a sore arse. He finally climbs up to the deck of the ship and holds up his Ingrid in one hand and his Shark Fin in the other. "It took a bite out of me and I took a bite back!" He will gather his things and try not to limp too noticeably as he heads to the kitchen to the butcher. He's been shot by a cannon and bit by a shark, both in the arse in less than an hour. He wanted to make sure he was not going to be listing when he sat for the rest of his life.

Once in the gally, he will hold up the shark fin. "Here, you can toss this in the soup tonight." He then boils over in a grand story of everything that he witnessed during the two battles and worriedly awaits any news of the damage to his butt.

The fearful four, Pocc, Geoffrey, Fishy and Rexlin soon realise that their nemesis is nothing more than a summoned illusion as the whale evaporates after breaching through the waves. With the Mako sharks also frightened off the race is one to be the first one on back on board from the kelp patch. While they are doing that Siggard and Van de Poel chance diving back under the sloop and investigating the strange flickering blue light. trusting that Pocc's cannon blast and Zoggrots' stubby pistol took care of the golem they hope to retrieve the spear that he wielded. The pair swim through multi-coloured shoals of fish to and a pair of meandering rays to find the sparking spear nestled between some craggy reefs. The coral flora is thick and many wavy strands of long budding leaves or spongy masses cling in masses to the rocks. The remains of the golem are not seen nearby but a few mangled pieces of iron, nuts and bolts are spread in the cloudy sediment.

Reaching out to grasp hold of the spear, from out of the shadows a hidden menace springs to attack the outstretched arm of Siggard. A ferocious Barracuda launches itself like a 'bolt from the blue' to snap off his hand but this time the giant fish goes hungry, barracuda attack [1d20] = 4

Content not to push their luck, Van de Poel and Siggard retrieve the spear and swim back to the sloop with their prize.

Szmodics, Zoggrot and Iggway are all back on board the sloop.

After much delay, the McGregor's Revenge and the captured Sierra Nevada get under sail again. Moving at half speed the combined boats struggle to against the wind and closed hauled to tack south-east and towards the relative safety of the Andros Islands. It takes a couple of days to gain the harbour, during that time folk may return to full health. Thankfully they arrive unmolested by pirates of Iberian vessels seeking the whereabouts of the two barques.

I will open a new thread shortly.

The golem spear looks like this:

Once on board the ship again, Siggard and Gin look over their new catch with great interest. While the wizard is fascinated by the arcing magical electricity, Gin goes on with the crew about being attacked by a barracuda the size of a dolphin.

Sig mumbles to himself as he touches the tiny bolts with his finger.

"I saw it sparkling at me from the bottom. I wonder how it got down there? It was as if it was just calling out to be found. Like it didn't want to be left behind. Interesting.......and precious!"

Szmodics

keeps a bucket of wooden wedges handy under his hammock in case Captain Lazarus sends him back down into the bilge again to check for unwanted leaks. He will assess the bilge pumps and prime them to make sure they can pump out any water that floods in. He will string his hammock over the hatchway and jealousy guard his cup of gold dust. (How much is that worth?). In off duty times he will try to catch up on the crews' 'news and blues' and information on the next mission or pirate raid.

The two boats eventually sail into Nicholls Freeport. The harbour town is on North Andros's eastern seaboard. Steering towards the harbour, the sloop and barque sail from the dark green seas covering the last few miles across calmer and clearer waters, viewing a shallow but long reef which extends out a couple of miles from the island coastline. The reef is alive with multi-coloured small fishing vessels, sponge divers and spear fishermen plying their vocations. A large wooden placard greets folks as they arrive,'Welcome'scrawled in multiple tongues and scripts. A unit of militia liveried conscripts lean lazily against some rusting cannons of the foreshore as a 'changing of the guard' takes place outside a tawdry stone watchtower which flies a national flag. Inside the harbour are some large jetties upon which local stevedores and wagon masters with thirsty and battered mules bray for the privilege of unloading cargo. A number of warehousing and store houses line the front of the dockside and custom officials, easily recognisable in plumed helms and long tailed coats keep a wary eye on proceedings.

For the crew there is a bit of housekeeping to be done. The cargo raided from the San Roque and Sierra Nevada needs to be sold. The Sierra Nevada and the McGregor's Revenge both need some degree of repairs. The settler folk rescued from Monte Verde need rehousing and the lycanthrope affected children need appropriate ministry before the virus takes them over completely.

It takes a couple of days for the cargo to find suitable buyers. Ivory tusks of mammoths and large reptiles are sought after in the Old World cities. An exporter of rare commodities is engaged to merchandise the stock. The trade goods, barrels of salted pork, hardwood tiles, sugars, spices and cereals are turned over cheaply to the 'cash and carry' enterprises. The sacks of copper ore traded to the dockyard shipbuilders. A shipwright offers a decent deal on behalf of the governor to purchase the ocean barque. Altogether the combined hoard equates to 73,500gp. Taking money out the kitty to pay off 'injuries incurred in the line of duty' (any one want to hold their hands up to losing a testicle, remember you get more for a right one than left one ...), and separating a tithe of the money to equip and maintain the McG, the plunder gets divided between the assembled crew.

According to share as in the signed 'Terms and Conditions' contract:

Captain Lazarus gains 1 x 20 fold share, 270gp x 20 = 5,400gp

1st Mate and deputising senior Officer: Mr Simonsen and Mr Perryman, 270gp x 12 fold share = 3,240gp. (Mr Simonsen's gold held in reserve until his release acquired from Djebel Tarik).

Senior Officers: Rico, Dogger and 'butcher' Vayne and a one-off gift to the settler folk to assist them, 270gp x eight fold share = 2,160gp

Seasoned crew members: 40 surviving crew each with a four fold share of 270 x4 = 1,080gp

Rookie crew members. Those who signed on in St Eustatius, Siggard, Zoggrot, Szmodics, Geoffrey, Pocc Vorche and Rexlin Dupre and including the stowaway Holden, castaway Elijah and shaman priestess Iggway. Each receiving a single share of 270 gpeach. Along with that you are also presented with new improved T&C's offering you seasoned crew rates, for the next division of plunder. Each character also receives a bonus of xp if they sign on, double that gold amount, +540 xp. please adjust sheets for characters who level up due to that gain.

After a few days, the local island Governor requests the presence of the Captain for a festive celebration the following week. The Captain accepts the invitation and chooses out a few crew to accompany him on the engagement. During the busy few days prioritising the cargo, you each get time to go ashore and make attempts to contact with whatever guilds, valuers, assessors, artisans you require. You can go as individuals or approach each other to go as a group. You have an evening to enjoy doing personal stuff. We will narrate those here. So tote up your gp and xp and next actions please if you want to go ashore. I will move to the invitation scenario next Monday.

Pocc will go armor shopping so that he might return the borrowed armor from Rexlin. Among other things he will also go purchase better "live" food for his two headed snake companion.

Szmodics

will celebrate some shore leave (for moving up to 3rd level. hit points progression [1d6+2] = 6+2 = 8) with a shopping trip and a visit to some less salubrious tavern.

"Hey Pocc, wait for me," he shouts and runs after his Haldane buddy. Szmodics has seen the devastation caused by Siggard and Zoggrot with their pistols, even Rexlin has a fancy officers one. A bit jealous, Szmodics will try to find an armourer and buy one for himself.

He will ask the business merchants and fellow seafarers about concerning the geo-political alliances of the day, current affair news, if the Haldane's at war with anyone, are the Iberians still fighting everyone. Any rumours of pirate vessels coming and going. What goes on in Andros that visitors might like to see?

Rexlin

Looks at the new T&Cs and grins big. Still, being the honorary type, he pockets it and salutes. "I'll think about it, sir." he said with a devilish grin. He then exits the ship for some R&R. He moves over to the marketplace and begins hunting for some items he is interested in as well as someone that can tell him what exactly his new armor is all about. He runs into his crewmates at the gunsmith's shop and loudly says hello before starting his own conversation with the owner.

Rexlin

Sets Grace and Sonia on the counter. Looking at the gunsmith he gestures to his firearms. "I want to have a rifle bore done on the musket and interested in any other upgrades and goodies you may have for both her and the pistol. This pistol is important to me,
she has saved my arse more than once, so let's treat her right."

Looking at Pocc and the other crewmates he grins. "How about those new T&Cs? I signed right on. That kind of a boost will certainly get us closer to our own ships and the likes later on, eh? Hopefully, we will have some more good luck like that last little adventure, minus the grapeshot in my arse and poison clouds in our faces of course."

Zoggrot signs up for another tour. He made it through the first with his hide and more than a little coin, and it's not like he has a lot of other offers coming in.

While the ship is in port, he looks for ways to lighten his heavy pockets.

Though Siggard is more exhausted than he has ever been in his life from these last few adventures, he gladly signs on for another tour at the higher share rate. The half-elven mage has never felt more fulfilled than he does now, making new friends and finding amazing and valuable treasures along the way.

In his usual flamboyant style, the mage gathers as much of the crew and officers together that he can muster as he presents his newly found magical spear to his friend and only follower, Gin. He makes a small spectacle out of offering up an extremely valuable weapon to the man, hoping that it might improve his image and standing with the other crewmen, possibly even convincing them that they could also benefit from following the eccentric mage. He hopes this gesture goes a long way in getting the rest of the crew to realize that, even if his spells don't always work out the best, he means well and has good intentions.

He and Gin gather up their belongings and head into town together with little Face hopping excitedly upon the wizards shoulder. The mage tries to keep track of where the others have all gone off to, but eventually gets so wrapped up in his own doings that he soon forgets all about them for a while. He knows he still has a debt to settle with the others once he sells the hellhounds jeweled collar, but figures he can settle up with the others once they are all united once again. That way, the less scrupulous sorts will still have a few coin after wasting all of theirs on loose women and bad drink.

With a fist full of silver coins, the mage starts asking around town, hoping to find the very best blacksmith they have. He also inquires as to where he can find the mages guild or a good alchemist. Lastly, he seeks out any handy craftsmen or gnomish tinkerers that might have a shop set up to handle his less than normal requests.

Nicholls Freeport:

The crew of the sloop McGregor's Revenge are once again on shore, enjoying a few days leave of absence. Everyone has signed up to new 'seasoned' crew conditions and set about hawking their share of trove or researching the unusual traits certain items may have. More pragmatic fellows head off to smiths for hoping for 'bigger and better' in terms of fighting prowess.

The port is a hustle and bustle of activity. Eyebrows were certainly raised as the crippled Sierra Nevada goes into the shipyard dry-docks and teams of carpenters are assigned to refit the pirates own sloop after it was blasted by the Iberian cannons. Some of those cannons now line the lower deck of the sloop with new gun ports and restraining lines being fitted or cut and the deck strengthened to cope with the extra weight. Cramped lower berths are going to be a lot more squeezed. Finally the sloop completes its makeover with a veneer of copper plating being fitted to the very bottom of the hull. Anti-fouling, hopefully anti-limpet gnashing and with a little more dynamic speed through the waters.

As the plunder is divided, the settler womenfolk and lycan infected children are escorted off the ship. They are much relieved but also saddened, nearly all have lost men folk in either the ship wreck or upon Monte Verde. Erik the wolf child and sister Erika mourn more than most having lost also their mother to the pit trap, they tag along not knowing what their futures hold. A local priest seems to welcome the new flock to his fold and it appears that rooms and roofs and servant jobs may be found within the town so the families have at least a chance to get back on their feet. They have a shared pot of money to invest in new farms in Andros as suitable land is found.

Also in the harbour are several trading ships. One majestic fluyt, several decks high bobs ungainly on the quayside. Some smaller trading junks and merchantmen ply their trades. At the far side of the harbour a decrepit and unseaworthy 'Guineaman' floats. It lists to one side and several spars appear to be broken. A few colourful gypsy pinnace harass the boats anchored offshore, seemingly coaxing gold coins in exchange for plump entertaining women. Further out to sea remain some gunboats, decorative flags and pennons fluttering but they are too far out to denote which nation they belong.

The town itself is a small hive. Sea front rows of fishermen cottages give way to smaller artisan terraced homes and crowded avenues of hawking merchants. In the town centre by the main square and beyond lie a large stone church and fenced off villas. A fortified villa with an attached garrison and stable block seems to serve as the government offices without dominating the views. A Gauloise flag flies from its large white painted pole. On the southern outskirts of the town are more 'frontier' hunter style trading posts with skins and bush meats dangling from posts, brought in from the east side mangroves. A large saloon and bawdy tavern caters for those 'redneck' patrons. A small chapel to Moradin exists but looks neglected and a formal garden has been planted with decorative trees and carved totems in some form of native memorial.

Siggard theatrically exalts 'Gin' Van de Poel with a gift of the golem spear. The blue sparks that arc between the tri-point prongs shimmers and splutters more now. As Siggard suspects, the spear seems to hold a charge with which to conduct the shocking touch and needs to investigate how to refresh the power. His gift is well received (almost as much as the jellified banana shaped trophy recovered from the hag) which bizarrely Cravat still chases Pascale around deck with.

A horologists workshop is locate din one of the artisan quarters. the window decked with a cuckoo clocks, wall timepieces and intricate lockets. The shopkeeper, a gnome (by chance) named Tissot takes a look at the insides of the clockwork cat and studies the machinations of the creature. He can soldered a small winding up key in a short time and asks you to leave the cat with him, you may collect it later.

A local blacksmith and petty armourer, a dwarf (by chance!), named some long standing many clans dwarvish name, folks call him 'Sparky', smelts the silver ingot into running hot thin liquid. He separates your pistol into the component parts and drills out a rifled bore.
"I can line the casings insides with the enchanted silvering and pass it on to a gnome colleague of mine, Tissot (by chance), he can do some intricate needlework to make the pistol shot spin accurately afterwards. Though you'll have to keep smelting your own ammunition after because the standard musket ball sizes won't go through. I can do the inside and a pouch of 30 silvered shots which what you have here. "

Later Siggard and Van de Poel decide to luncheon in the Owl and Pussycat, having been referred to that place as a tavern which some of the sages and mages frequent.

Rexlin also follows the path to the armourers. This time following some street urchins who take him for the 'bad ass' pirate as he swans around tooled up in his pangolin scale and bandoliers full of guns. "Maybe he's Blackbeard only he had a shave!" says one. "Needs a bath if you ask me!" says the other urchin. Rexlin's growls scatter them behind stone walls while he gets whistles and smiles from various ladies who show just too much jiggling cleavage as they bend to peg the washing out. Arriving on the 'frontier' quarters he hears familiar Gauloise saloon tunes and curses. A gunsmiths shop is found, it is the one with some musketeers of its' own guarding the porch. Inside the tender looks at the weapons of choice. The tooth missing, cigar smoking woman lifts it and points it straight at Rexlin."Be surprised you ken hit a racoons rump with that you chimp. Look, bores blocked with mud, trigger bent, frame is all over the place. More like a broomstick than firearm."she says scolding then looks you in the eye, "Say, honey plum, where's you been keeping all my days?" She can upgrade the rifle with some modifications to improve accuracy, building in an improved stock to keep recoil down."Hey babe, I ain't no magician or witch but I can get it to shoot straight and hard" (90gp). As to the pistol,"It is a fine crafted work. Sees like its' packing a punch ready to unload! just like you sweetie I'll wonder."she says pointing the barrel at Rexlins lower regions. "You comes back tomorrow pleased to see me and I'll be pleased to put some lead in your shot." She can offer to adjust the 'explosive ejaculation of your shot' (or words to that effect) so that the pistol operates in two ranges, short and medium at an advantage. (another 60gp) but you'll have to leave the stuff here overnight."I's even got bunk out beyond the firing range, if you need to stay over. make all the noise you want, no one will hear you above the firecrackers."She gives you a toothless grin ignoring Fishy.

Geoffrey, Zoggrot and Goldie team up to trawl the sea fronts. A merchant can offer Geoffrey 60gp for the silver engraved portrait frame. The picture is casually tossed aside, dumped in the bin as easily as the Iberian marines body from whom it was taken, was tossed into the ditch dug grave. There is little market for the Iberian prayer and psalm book. the two nations are at war and no Iberian church is on the island. You might have to go to the church and see if a cleric can discern any more about the books, "perhaps they are cursed, perhaps blessed?" the merchant advises.

The trio end up in a tavern overlooking the harbour. 'The Grinning Ogre' is a busy tavern and the wenches swerve grasping hands with ease. A young acolyte using his arcane gifts to 'mage hand' a squeeze too far is quickly picked out the crowd and thrown by hands and heels out the door as you come in. Over the top of the fire hearth an enormous stuffed ogres' head is stationed, planted on top of a pike staff. A gold ring dangles from one of the ogres' ears. Occasional drips of blood still drop like tears from the severed head, is that real blood or just the sweltering fireplace making the thing still sweat? It is hard to tell. There is talk in the bar regarding rumours of war and that a draft of able bodied men may be called up. Some deny this as 'old wives talk', others ascertain it is true. What is true is that a significant number of patrons wear a naval uniform. The towering barman takes your order politely enough. His grin shows he is also half-orcish and he nods knowingly to Zoggrot.

Szmodics and Pocc follow the path trod by Rexlin, migrating to the more rundown side of town. Szmodics insists he has been recommended to check out one artisan in particular. In one backstreet you hear the rhythmic chink of a smith at work. An elf works at the forge. He has a wooden leg and a hook hand. Nevertheless he dextrously beats out the cast plate he works on with solid hammerings, forming it into a kite shield. The building has many pieces or farming equipment stored about, ploughshares, threshing flail heads, peat spades. He looks up as you approach. "Gentlemen, may I help you?"

Iggway and Holden, busy with on ship duties are the last to enjoy some downtime. Joined by Pascale you can explore the town as you wish.

She can upgrade the rifle with some modifications to improve accuracy, building in an improved stock to keep recoil down."Hey babe, I ain't no magician or witch but I can get it to shoot straight and hard" (90gp).
Walking through the Frontier Quarter, he finds himself smiling at the old songs and the styled... or attempted styling... of the architecture back home. Sniffing the air, he even grins at the smells of familiar cooking. He even grins after running the kids off. That grin widens as he waves and catcalls right back at all the jiggly women. "I'm in heaven..." Once he finds the gunshop, he ducks inside he grins at the shopkeep. Listening to her he chuckles and look around at the shelves. "Yeah, that's the problem, I'm not the one that's been keeping it. They'll give any knit on a boat a gun if they claim they can shoot it. I liberated it from the dolt that was keeping it before and brought it here to your loving hands. You look like you can handle a gun, deary..." he winks enjoying the site of her and the smell of the tobacco. Now this was a quality woman! "Since it is so bad off,
what about a little credit for her and you sell me one of these lovely ladies on your rack. Surely we can come to some agreement or another?"
he winks looking over her rack as well as the one holding all the rifles.

Szmodics

gazes around the forge and wonders at the crippled smith. Possibly a former pirate himself? he thinks considering the mans' wooden leg and hook hand. He hesitates to ask, it is impertinent and besides, even with the gold coin we have, enhanced items are very pricey and rare. Noting the shield the man is bashing out, does he note other shields about and any crests on them. A kite shield is unusual for use on a ship. Is there any work of elven description among the mundane items. wisdom skill check [3d6] = 10?
