With a combination of nimbleness and strength, Zoggrot quickly loads a cannon and fires.

as per our GM since I made a critical hit

As the connonball archs through the air, tumbling over thr distance, the arch at first to an untrained eye seems at first too high and to far to the left. Then gravity catches the iron shot and it levels off, the enemy ship begins to line up to the lead even as the wind shifts the projectile's path to align with the mainmast even as the shot begins to drop, striking it directly where the base meets the deck. There is an eruption of shivers and shrapnel in all directions. The mast shivers and seems unaffected, then, as if time tried to stand still, it slowly teeters one way, the another before falling back towards the cabins on the back of the ship. Sails and lines are ripped asunder as the mast crashes down on the crew, falling to crush the portals to the captain's quarters before rolling off the side of the rail, causing the ship to list to that side and slow from the drag of the massive timber and now waterlogged sails in the water.

Siggard watched the insolent men being thrashed with very little interest. He knows that such things are necessary on ships out to sea that are filled with cutthroat pirates, but still grits his teeth at the sheer barbarism. He feels badly for the less learned victims, but not enough to speak up on their behalf. He nods to the captain as a sign of support during the proceedings while adjusting his own freshly washed bright red do-rag. He even goes so far as to tear a tiny strip off to tie around Face's tail for good measure.

Once the cannon crews start to work thier own magic, Sig spots his chance to finally prove that his new spell can actually work. He encourages the team from a safe distance until they are close enough to fire his magically enhanced cannon ball. Though still skeptical himself, he tries to spot the perfect place to fire the hags mist where it might affect the most of their crewmen, without affecting any of his own this time. Aims for a well populated portion of the deck, hopefully nearby their captain.

Szmodics

Muttering curses about 'dread Captain Lazarus' to his cannon crew mates he loads and fires the last of the cannons. cannon load and fire and damage [3d6] = 9 [1d20] = 18 [4d6] = 11 Aiming to land a blast against one group of quick loading buccaneers.

Szmodics is whipped sore, his back heavily bandaged and he will have a few scars to show. After the celebration of a direct hit, Szmodics limply raises his sword in jubilation and whips up his 'Breton boys',, "News of this capture or sinking these Iberian dogs reaching certain port customs houses and you can exchange a gallows for a pardon and a dance with the governors daughter."

Geoffrey ended up helping with a cannon this time instead of his more competent sail work, and the lack of experience shows. He barely stays standing and his firing is less than acceptable.

McGregor's Revenge

The line of cannons fire explosive round shot at the Sierra Nevada. First in line with a masterful shot, dandy pirate Rexlin, executes a critical hit on the vessels mainmast. striking the trunk and causing an explosion of crossbeams and spars. The rigging collapses, timber felled, the heavy canvas sails fall overboard and drags men into the Carib seas. The Iberian barque lists alarmingly and other cannon shot threaten to puncture her below the water line. Pocc and Geoffrey fire amiss as the tangled barque fights to stay afloat. Then as the crew chop away the deadwood, incoming fire from Zoggrot and Szmodics blast the opposing grenadiers. Each shatter a cannon crew completely. The sloop moves in for the kill as their prey becomes immobilised. Skirting around like a predatory shark as the McGregor's draws closer, a bowshot from the Long Nine cannon fires a foul missile of necrotic devastation. Siggard's 'mage brew' anointed grape shot lands on the deck and explodes in a fiery burst. From among the shrapnel and molten lead erupts a large sickly pea green cloud. It swirls in the wind and forms a thick mist over the Iberians. Lantern lights and burning embers on the deck get shrouded in the noxious vapours, silhouetting a grinning misty form of a hags face.

The Sierra Nevada tarries silent on the wave, save for the retching sound of gut wrenching vomit and asphyxiating choking. The ghoulish cloud of rot clings to the sails and broken masts, permeates the clothes of the surviving sailors. Lazarus holds fire from the reloaded cannons as the sloop closes. Iggway spots a sailor on the prow jib pulling a rope to unfurl a large white flag, men are heard jumping off the far side of the barque. The stinking creation of Siggard disguises the shadowy forms of stumbling, puking men. As the decaying mist thinly dissipates the pirates throw grapnels and haul in the barque. Duration of Hagsmist. [2d4+1] = 3+1 = 4

Everyone who wants, can charge in with a +2 to hit due to the incapacitation affecting the defenders still raising swords. Around each of the four cannon are a handful of uniformed marines who struggle to their feet. At the far side a plate-mailed officer stands, intermittently giving orders and vomiting. He is bloodied and pale faced, the only colour on his face the large waxed black moustache and pea green soaked goatee beard. Further along at the prow, some halberdiers wave weapons in equal measure to sailors deserting the ranks and to ward off the pirate scum intruding on deck.

Next actions same as before:

Each character give me a 'warcry' to rouse your fellow crew. A [3d6] vs charisma check modified by a minus penalty for your notoriety if any,

Roll a double attack & damage macro for your character and a single 'to hit' roll for each of the men you inspire to follow you.

rogue characters may receive additional 'sneak attack' bonus 1st round.

"Cutthroats and curs, with me!" cries Zoggrot, hoisting his cutlass in one hand and a boarding axe in the other. He has a plan: "You lot get the attention of anyone between me and the tin can back there. I'll gut 'im from behind!"

Warcry (10, 12 for orcs): [3d6-1] = 9-1 = 8

Cutlass & Axe v. S/M (THAC0 20): [1d20+1] = 20+1 = 21 [1d6+3] = 3+3 = 6 / [1d20-1] = 17-1 = 16 [1d6+3] = 4+3 = 7
Does not include x2 backstab multiplier.

Forgoing the brutish war cry, Siggard looks to his friend Gin and mutters, "looks like it's just you and me again ol' friend. Now stay away from the main battle if you can. You and I will try to gain accesses to below decks again. The good stuff is always below decks!"

With that, the mage begins to cast a spell as Gin leads the way over to the other ship.

VdP Attack Roll [1d20] = 14

The brave sailor leads the way through the chaos as Sig tries to concentrate his efforts on any enemies that might try to bar the duos way below decks by putting them to sleep.

Casts: Sleep

Together, they try to skirt the heavy fighting in order to make their way to the stairs below before this ship is sunk as well. If the mage needs to protect himself along the way, he does so gladly.

Pistol Attack [1d20] = 20 Damage [2d4] = 2

Szmodics

will make a dash across the decks and aim for the two halberdiers."If we can cut them down then maybe the sailors will surrender, we'll need them to pilot the ship into port won't we?"he suggests then issues his warcry,"C'mon brothers we'll slice and dice their heads and display them on their own poleaxes."

charisma check [3d6] = 13 vs 13.
Light crossbow short range [1d20+1] = 12+1 = 13 [1d4+1] = 1+1 = 2

He shoots at the first of the halberdiers and then tries to stab him.

Longsword melee[1d20+2] = 3+2 = 5 [1d8] = 5

His men follow suit.

Fellow pirates to hit [1d20] = 8 [1d20] = 5 [1d20] = 4 [1d20] = 20 [1d20] = 14

Iggway begins her native war cry...her intentions are to search through the crew's cabins.

[3d6-3] = 12-3 = 9 vs Charisma (8) (notoriety-3)

She will use her Staff to fend off enemies in her way.

Attack w/Staff [1d20+1] = 9+1 = 10 Damage [1d6] = 4

She will cast Sanctuary on herself before boarding the other vessel.

The successful cannon fire and debilitating poison of the Hagsmist lay waste to the Iberian Sierra Nevada crew. The most frantic movement is men throwing themselves off the far rails. The cannon grenadiers weakly struggle to stand. Zoggrots' cut-throats slice a path for him and he opens up the plate mailed officer like a tin of sardines. The hit splices him from pelvis to neck, a wave of his axe cleaving him in twain fully for good measure. The man falls either side of his feet, the damage sustained more than most cannonballs would do if he caught one full blast. Amid the spilled mess of intestines and yesterdays fish dinner are two engraved pistols.

'Bullseye Blood' buckles his swash and runs to the cabins followed by his 'Blood brothers'. Two armed guards do not stand long in his way, Geoffrey expertly executes a lunge and riposte to stab both men aside with a flick of his wrist. His men charge in with cutlass and pistol to challenge more sailors who try to stream out of the doorway and into the fray. Savage blows are traded both sides, pistols shot at close range doing critical mortal wounds. A dull metallic figure clanks rigidly behind them. It is humanoid in shape and size, almost like a statue but not carved from rock. The figure bears a short spear which is tipped by a sparking sizzling blue pincer. It also carries a metal entangling net which it throws at the intruders. They manage to dodge out of the way but not before one is prodded by spear. A shocking spasm overtakes the pirate and he falls at the feet of Geoffrey, fitting frantically.

Iggway follows behind the group, crowning a grenadier unconscious with her staff. Face to face with the enemy the shaman intones a Sanctuary spell to ward her safety. A familiar small figure (Pascale) nimbly hides amid the barques tattered spars and sails.

Szmodics targets the two halberdiers who shepherd the sailors. He wings one with his crossbow but the Haldane is still weakened from his lashes and faintly attacks with his sword. Only a critical hit from an ally takes down one of the plate armoured men. The other levels his weapon and forces back the blood thirsty raiders. Henri Halberdier, Szmo, men [1d20] = 1 [1d12] = 6 [1d20] = 17 [1d12] = 1 His twin attacks though fail, only slightly injuring pirate. His weapon so useful on land is encumbered in close order and his fumble allows Szmodics a window of opportunity to stab at him again. (roll a single d20 Szmodics.)

Rexlin tries to clear the decks with pal 'Fishy'. They are stopped from boarding by the mass of broken bodies and smashed cannon they have to climb over. Just close enough to stab at the dead and dying foes. Siggard intones a Sleep spell which puts the rest of the Iberian sailors unconscious and out of the fight. They will awake as prisoners. Followed by Van de Poel, he makes it to the cargo steps and descends below the deck. One stripped to the waist sailor drinks a final glug from a glass bottle before smashing it on the floor. He tries limping up the stairs all the while carrying something resembling a large conch shell. Nearly at the top he looks up into the muzzle of the mages drawn side arm. He sees a flash but dies before he hears the pistol shot.

Pocc stays on the McGregor, tying fast the captured vessel and securing it. In the relative clam waters and anchor is dropped to keep the ship steady in the seas and the sails are furled back to keep the ships together, bobbing along on the Carib current.

Next action round.
okay each character continue with either attacks roll if engaged in melee, (Szmodics, Geoffrey, Rex) or a exploration action post if free (Sig, Igg, Zogg, Pocc). Hope to narrate update over weekend.

Geoffrey attacks the blue thingy, sensing he is the most formidable of the foes.
Long Sword [1d20+2] = 7+2 = 9 ; damage [1d8+1] = 4+1 = 5 sm/md ; [1d12+1] = 11+1 = 12 Lg
2nd if necessary Long Sword [1d20+2] = 9+2 = 11 ; damage [1d8+1] = 6+1 = 7 sm/md ; [1d12+1] = 9+1 = 10 Lg

men-men [1d20] = 10 [1d20] = 7 [1d20] = 7 [1d20] = 2
men [1d20] = 1 [1d20] = 18 [1d20] = 18 [1d20] = 13
A couple seem to be successful, while one is counterproductive in their attacks.

Zoggrot Grimgut takes the downed officer's pistols. Fat lot of good hot lead did him against Zoggrot's cold steel, but the guns might come in handy sometime.

"Secure the ship!" he commands as he rushes to join the remaining fray.

If he can get an attack in:
Cutlass & Axe v. S/M (THAC0 20): [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 [1d6+3] = 3+3 = 6 / [1d20-1] = 1-1 = 0 [1d6+3] = 4+3 = 7

Siggard grabs the strange looking conch shall from the dead mans hand as he falls to the floor.

"I will take that, thank you very much!"

He looks it over momentarily while VdP moves ahead to check for any more stragglers below decks. The mage pulls out his magic bag and tosses a furry ball on the ground in front of Gin.

Bag O' Tricks [1d8] = 7

"That should help us out if we find another hell dog down here"

The mage quickly reloads his pistol and follows behind his friend.

Points to the big tin can with a fork and looks at Fishy. "look at that!"
