Captain Lazarus

Lazarus is not his real name but a moniker he took after escaping Breton gaol. Captain of the McGregor's Revenge.

History: former crofter from Breton highlands exiled into new world plantations after leading a clan rebellion. A ship carrying the women and children of the Highlanders sank off the reefs, all lives lost. Lazarus is notorious for escaping Port Royal gallows and commendered the eight gun sloop. Sailed with another pirate command before the ships divided after an unsuccessful raid on an Iberian convoy.

Spent time recovering from a poison under the care of Padre du Lautrere on Monte Verde, who sheltered him secretly away from Breton authorities.

Suffers nightmares due to a recurring dream bought on through his gallows escape. The 'Straw Men' is a root if his 'formidophobia', and often seen drinking to calm nerves.

Capt' Gaston Ponterouge.

Met by Holden in the Succubus bordello, Cockburn Harbour, East Caicos. He has a hook hand and sports a large medallion. The medallion was minted and presented to the survivors of an infamous naval battle where an Iberian flagship Havanna' Glory, was boarded and taken by pirates. Of the 200 men who entered the ship, only 20 survived, all wounded and bloody. The Iberians have a significant reward out for the presentation of the medallions and the capture, dead or alive of the surviving men.

Blue John taken from the Gauloise 'Bleu-Jaune', the name for a blue-yellow streaked fluorspar crystal, a semi-precious gemstone mined exclusively upon Andros.

It is also the nickname of one of the notorious pirate brethren leaders, who is famed for acts of derring-do. He sails in a 24 gun Sloop of War named as ''The Dog's Bollocks'. His most recent escapade was told by Alderhay in the tavern:

"This Blue John is a notorious pirate captain who hides out somewhere in the western mangrove swamps. The Breton's want him because he stole an egg from their blue dragon, Lady Azul. From what it says on that blade, it's probably some kind of threat from the Breton's, I know they are royally pissed at him. I certainly would't want to be the one who delivers it to him"

The pirate raided Port Royal to steal a dragon egg which he holds 'hostage'. While the egg is away from the nest, the brooding Lady Azul has refused to leave her lair and patrol the waters around the Breton stronghold, thereby weakening the Crown forces capability. They have a reward out for the safe return of the egg.

Szmodics has come upon a halberd blade inscribed in 'Old Breton' with the inscription, 'The Long Reach of Justice', the edged blade-head formerly used by the Crown executioner. He had been asked to deliver it to 'The Blue John', only to find that it was not a ship or a tavern in Andros but a wanted pirate.

He is a suave, sophisticated character, highly skilled and supported by the 'cajun' rural folk of Andros.
