Iggy watches as if she rewound in her mind what previously occurred...feeling naked without any spells left, she begins chanting to the High Priest...she lays her other magic candle out in front of her...Yanauluha, protect us, we will only take what we need...it is to save not to harm!!! She starts writhing around with her club above her head.

Blood will attempt to exit quickly with the barrow, hopefully not spilling any on the way out.

Mud, glorious Mud...

dex save blood[4d6] = 17 cobb [4d6] = 7

Cobb a barrow of loam in double quick time he lifts the handles in both hands and runs again barging past Geoffrey to make it back up the thin path to the cave mouth. This time he is not so fortunate, slipping on a sticky wet patch he goes heels over head and off at an angle, his barrow twisting alarmingly and then then tipping into the mud pool. The mud men sense the commotion and with Cobb prone they send thick wads of spludge at him. He is hit twice and the mud sets as a quick drying cement, the cast fixing him to floor and cave wall. One Mudman waddles slowly to him appearing to gain height and mass, not a rippling frame of washboard abs and pectorals but like a slurry heap tipped from the back of a wagon. Cobb raises his arms in defence, trying frantically to bash away the loam that binds him with the spade.

Iggway, kneels and writhes like a charmed snake called forth from a weaved basket. In native glossolalia she calls on the name of Yanaulahula, to guide and protect. Her chanting rhythmic incantations gain the attention of the third mud men who flings a wad of sticky goo at her. Striking the candle and snuffing out the flickering light and perfumed scent. Rexlin smashes a spade head into a nearing mud men. It takes a wedge of wet dirt from him but the creature neither stops or notices, merely allowing dripping sludge to flow into the rib cage area and reform its' mass. Sully has an idea to fire flaming arrows at the creatures, tying thins strips of cloths and lighting them in oil. It takes time but he manages to get an arrow off which strikes on of the creatures squarely in the back. The oil is put out like a damp squib, barely a fizzle scorches the mud man hit and the arrow simply plops to the pool.

Geoffrey takes his spade and begins to load loam. The three mud men occupied this round with the others. On this side of the mud falls as he works he finds that there is a tugging on his spade as he digs. It is tangled up in something buried under the falls. Pulling it free you find an old knotted rope which runs up the fall and over the lip of the mud fall above. That area is dark but from the torch light being waved you can see that there must be a cavern or cave above from which the mud and water mingle and drip.next actions please

If it appears possible,
Geoffrey will attempt to assist Cobb in exiting. If it appears all hope is lost, he will move to help the others. Knowing he has no offensive weapons, he can only yell,
"Get out... Now"... and help pull or push them toward the exit.

Iggy grabs her snuffed out candle and stuffs it into her headdress...she jumps up from chanting and heads over to help with getting the loam out.

Mud bath doesn't make a splash...

The animated Mud men, angry and rising in a raging torrent of sludge attack the party as they flee along the paths. Geoffrey foregoes digging more loam, instead untangling his spade from the swinging knotted rope he successfully whacks the drying cast away sufficiently enough for Cobb to wriggle free and they both leg it down the path and back to the cave mouth. On the way thick globes splatter the wall and path, almost like a potter throwing down the clay ready to spin out a fine vessel. No creative potter about, the mounds heap up like miniature termite hills.

Mudmen attacks [1d20] = 5 [1d20] = 5 [1d20] = 6

Iggway, Rexlin and Sully frantically retreat and withdraw unmolested from the cave. the mud men waddle in the pool like territorial hippos, huge maws forming and gaping in warning and plenty of 'alpha male' like strutting of stuff, shaking pumped up fists. As if to emphasis the dangers one mudmen submerges leaving only a muddy shark dorsal fin shape above the waterline which does a circular patrol around the pool edge.

When the cave is quiet and still, echoing softly to the constant drip of mud from the fall top and the fluttering of nesting bats, the mud men finish their quaking and sink slowly once more below the surface of the loam enriched pool.

The party look at one another for direction and a decision. You have one wheel barrow of 'Hurtloam', one barrow on the right side path by the mud fall and one barrow halfway down the path, but tipped over immobilized by stuck wheels in the pool. Next actions please.

Blood suggests,

I think we have pushed our luck this time, until we have a way to defeat them. I say we quickly go grab what we have, come out and make do. Oh, and I saw a rope that extends above the area. Perhaps we look to investigate above, and see if we can cut off the water source, weakening the muddies?

Rexlin " Devil's Scowl " Dupre

Nods a little winded. "Here, here," he says, his pride a little shaken. Looking back over to the cave. "After we get a moment to suck wind and things have a while to settle down inside, what say Cobb and I go straight for the stuck barrow to see if we can free it and bring it out, the rest of you get the other, and we hot trot it right back out."

Rexlin *Devil's Scowl" Dupre

Nods and checks his gear is secure and comfortable before lining up with Cobb. "Alright lads, count of three? 1... 2... 3!!!" Dashes forward at full speed going atraight for the stuck barrow, and together with Cobb, pulls to free it.

The intrepid group decide another 'supermarket sweep' is in order and determine to dash down the mud slick path and grab whatever they can. Rexlin and Cobb target freeing the barrow stuck in the mud. The others, led by Geoffrey run and grab the other barrow. It is only half full and frantically they spade more into it. "The explorer went up there but never came out," exclaims Sully, seeing the dangling rope. He waves his flaming torch to ward away the encroaching mud men and try to see above but the fall is 60'ft feet high and the rivulets and waves of slow descending mud mean he cannot see into the cave above. And the mud men are encroaching. Alerted by the vibrations of dashing footsteps and calling voices, the three earth elementals arise, quaking in the pool and causing ripples to ebb away to the outer pool rims. Angrier and more animated they snarl vengefully and trudge through the pool like dark behemoths. They launch cascades of thick loam in the direction of Rex and Cobb. Both get hit and their legs feel as though a heavy cast is beginning to set around them. Movement hampered, you can continue to dig out the barrow or limp away. The barrow looks stuck fast and will take a lot of effort to free. A splash of thick mud hits close to the shaman Iggway and a mud man moves to intercept her progress at the foot of the mudfall.

Mudmen attacks [1d20] = 12 [1d20] = 3 [1d20] = 14

actions for round 2 please

What is the condition of Geoffrey's barrow? Can someone easily push it out, while he goes to help Rexlin and Cobb?

Sully or Iggway could try to run with a loaded barrow but need to succeed on a [4d6] vs dex roll or walk with a normal [3d6] vs dex save but have a greater risk of attack from the mudmen.

ok. I'm waiting to see what their strategy/actions are. Blood would react by helping them to safety, first... assuming the others can move the 2nd barrow easily to safety.

Rexlin "Devil's Scowl" Dupre

 Decides he is starting to hate mud. Kicking at the mud briefly to try to get it off best he can, he look over to Cobb. "We have maybe one more chance. 1, 2, 3, HEAVE!!!!" He pulls with everything he has got.

Geoffrey sees that they are moving the barrows, so helps wherever he can to get everyone out with as much magical mud as possible. (without adding any to what they have)

Come on men. One more push. We can do this.

The Mud Men rage at the continued raiding of their enchanted mud loam from the mud fall. Each dug out spade full eliciting a grimace from one of them. They each shake fists and pump up buffed out torso' and then stride slowly but inexorably towards the trio pulling free the tipped barrow.

Mudmen attacks [1d20] = 14 [1d20] = 16 [1d20] = 20

Geoffrey, Rexlin and Cobb heavy together, the weight of the tipped barrow must be similar to a cannon. Straining sinew and muscle the trip rip free the barrow but at no little cost. Cobb steps onto he path and grabs the handles, checking if the loam inside is too intermingled with the mud pool sludge. He shakes his head, the barrow mud slides free as you travail and is empty. He looks up to express his disappointment but can only stand open mouthed and raise his arms to protect himself. The wave of sludge hit and crashes over the trio, dragging Rexlin knee deep inside the pool. Geoffrey though remains standing but is encased like a plastered mummy. Arm and legs outstretched he wobbles one foot to another, increasingly slow until his movement stops and the mud case which surrounds him sets hard like stone. From head to toe he his covered his thin rasping choking and struggling for breath begins. The cast asphyxiating him as it restricts his lungs to breathe.Geoffrey takes mud men suffocate damage [1d8] = 3 -3hp suffocation damage.

Iggway dodges through the crowded path, her moccasin footwear finding little grip on the wet slippery surface. She skips along full pelt, finally diving on top of the barrow like a winter toboggannist and narrowly skids to a halt at the cave mouth. Looking back she sees the others struggle to free themselves.

Sully, flaming firebrand in one hand grabs the rope and begins to inch his way up it out of the immediate danger. He slips and slides but his grasp his firm and he makes it to a small ledge. The loam is thick and spongy but scarcely able to take his weight without him knocking ledges of mud to drop below. "The cave opens up here, the rope goes further. I knew the explorer came this way." Sully waves his torch, standing like a child playing 'King of the Castle' having been first to conquer the wall. Behind him unseen, a huge shadow moves to envelope him, a mud wall like a tidal wave with arms rising to wash over him, his torch knocked from his grasp and snuffed out like a match stick wafted away.

Mudmen attacks on Sully [1d20] = 4

but he must have wisely tied himself secure to the rope for though pushed off his feet and dragged over the lip of the fall, he is left dangling like a fat salmon seeking to leap over rocks to breed. He wriggles snared on the rope calling for help. The Mud men who attacked him from the top of the floor lands heavily in the pool, dive bombing with no grace, just a great splash. It disappears below the surface.

You have one light left, the lantern which still burns and two barrows of loam outside the cave. Sully entangle on the mud fall top, the mud man who attacked him now reinforcing the men below. Cobb has an empty barrow, Rexlin needs to break free of his cast to move, Geoffrey will take on going damage until he can breathe. The mud man who has enveloped him did so kamikaze' style for his form drips all over Mr Blood. Next actions please, except for Geoffrey who is stuck fast.
