Iggy places the Caduceus in her medicine bag, she's disgusted at the sight of the crew purposely attacking each other. She guesses that it's their way! Iggy runs over to the fallen crewmen, trying to stop the bleeding. Vayne, is he breathing? The crew sure dont like one another! They're so reckless, they have no care for human life, it is hard for Iggy to comprehend.

In the Bilge

Szmodics tries some delicate surgery, peeling the leech off sucking his wounds and trying to save it for the medics. Maybe this type of leech could ingest poisons or toxins as well as blood. You find that the creature has swelled having gorged in your blood. Appetites sated it may be removed without further draining. By the time you remove your parasite and move to aid Zoggrot you notice his leeches have also fattened up considerably.
-2hp Zoggrot. More concerned with stemming a leak in the ship than his own blood, the half-orc successfully seals the leaking rivets with the matted boards and fresh nails in place. The oil light burns out leaving you in the dark bilge. Rico, "Good work Grimgut, let us hope it holds until we can drydock."

Below Decks

Elijah of course you can attack...and fumble ;) picks up Holden, encouraging his seaward faith and tries to tackle the musket man. Prodding him back with the trident prongs, your fishhook net cloak catches in the cabins and restricts your movements until you can tear yourself free. Old Plighty catches the brig keys and opens the brig door to step into the hull. Holden throws his lightweight frame into the ribs of the opponent. Your grammar school rugby coach would be so proud of the flying tackle. The man goes down in a heap over the body of the stunned brig guard. He grapples with Holden, trying to use his experience to get on top when a bottle gets smashed over his skull.
"Shame to spoil even vinegar wine on his numbskull," says a female halfling, stepping from the bunk shadows. Pascale draws a stiletto blade and cuts a purse dangling from the mans' waist. She looks at Holden and Elijah, "The gods bless those who bless themselves, don't they?". She rips a pair of golden earrings off him and tosses one apiece to Holden and Elijah. "Nowt for you stumpy, best get back in the brig afore officers come and see the shenanigans," she advises before melting back in the darkness.

Iggway grabs the shot sailor with Vayne and places him on the table. Shot at point blank range, the wound is deep and much more damage has been done than for Conrad. 'Butcher' Vayne lays his hands on the man, caressing his forehead while he prays for divine intervention. "I have stemmed his arteries but until the pistol shot is removed, he will suffer further damage and may even be paralysed if it is near the spine." Iggway, to assess the injury and treat the guy will take a very difficult [5d6] vs wisdom roll, but as you treated a musket wound earlier you may add your wisdom modifier as a penalty to the roll.

Above Decks

Siggard casts his stones and spells.
Pocc,[oocCannon fire short range [1d20+1] = 10+1 = 11 damage [3d6] = 7
[/ooc]
Rexlin and Geoffrey man cannons. With a full compliment of loaders each is ready to fire on the fourth round. Dogger
Cannon fire short range [1d20+1] = 11+1 = 12 damage [3d6] = 12

Just as well as...

Out to Sea

The grieving mother whale tries to wreak her revenge on the sloop who stunned and drowned her calf. With a determination to shake off the olfactory stunning from the depth charge pebbles, she breaches the surface mere feet away from the sloop.

Cannons roar hot metal pebbles of fire, grape shot which burst into a score of deep riven wounds. Splays of blood and flesh litter the ocean, causing craven gulls to clack in delight and dive in to feast. Through the pain and anguish, the whale buffets the sloop, smashing it's 40 ton bulk into the wooden hull. The reinforced lower decks buckle, wood creaks and cracks, several boards split open but amazingly the McGregor's Revenge takes the hit. The whale causes the sloop to list heavily and sharply. A few men lose their grips in the rigging and fall into the turbulent seas. Fishy and Conrad among them. The magic mouth caricature on the starboard steps swallows water, it animates and bellows "Abandon ship." The top deck fencing breaks and the list causes the cannons to slide along the deck to the sea.

Everyone on the top deck make a hard dex save [4d6] to grip the ropes or rails. Failure means you plunge into the sea.

Below deck: please make a normal deck save or suffer d4 hp damage from falling stores.

Bilge: you guys all have excellent dex and being prone in the least rocked part suffer no consequence save for a few bruises.

The whale gives everyone a mean black eye stare before being zapped painfully in its iris by Siggards finger of power. She relaxes her taut body and dives away leaving a cloudy trail of blood and men in her wake. The sloop rights itself upright and catches the wind again in set sails. All nature appears calm once more though several drowning . men flail arms in the hope of rescue.

Next actions please. :)

Geoffrey feels the jolt
10m platform dive [4d6] = 15

but is somehow able to hold on. For how long, though, seems moot, as the abandon ship call wakens him to the peril he faces.

Szmodics

struggles to crawl along the ballast rocks, to the hatchway at the end, leaving the two half orcs to bring up the boards and anything left behind. he doesn't want any more blood suckers feeding from him and weak enough he exits the bilge.

Szmodics will go to the medics with the leeches dangling from the blade of his dagger like a brace of trout.

"Are these any good to you guys, they suck blood but may also staunch wounds or clear poisons out." feeling very anaemic, Szmodics will sit down before he faints.

do we hear this abandon ship call? is that ongoing or just one shout?

Siggard cant believe that the ship was just nearly destroyed by one single sea creature. He quietly wonders how many more of those things are swimming around out here?

He is able to grab onto some rigging to stay on his feet as the ship is battered badly.

Hard Dex Check (17) [4d6] = 14

When his spell hits unerringly into the things eyeball, he is certain that it alone is what caused it to turn and swim away.

YES!!!!! Did you see that?!?! I got it right in the eye!!!! In your face mother...... whale!!!

He looks around for the captain, thinking that he also must have noticed the mages heroics as well. Once he sees the dying sailors in the water, his jubilation is cut quite short.

He looks around for something like a rope or some other type of floatation device that he can throw to the sailors in the water.

Rexlin "Devil's Scowl" Dupre

Sees the good hit from the cannon fire and whoops briefly until he realizes the Cow means to ram them still. Cursing loudly he scrambles for a handhold and just misses finding himself in the drink sputtering and cursing like.... well.... a sailor soon as his head breeches the water. He quickly starts making his way towards the ship keeping an eye out for other sailors that may be floundering or something he can grab on to to help keep him afloat. Ever aware of the cloud of blood and the knowledge of how that will likely attract more aggressive and toothy titans of the deep.

As the ship shook Holden tries his best to balance himself before helping Old Eli out of the net, "Looks like they caught a big one"

He then rushes up to the deck to see if he is needed calling the old man to join him quickly.

With the repair work done, Zoggrot backs out of the bilge and attends to his leech issue, trying to save them for the healers if possible.

In the Bilge

Smzodics , Rico and Zoggrot exit the bilge, securing the partition seal and hatchway. Leeches are taken to the medical staff to examine.

Below Decks

Iggway grabs scalpel and knife. Assessing the bullet wound. The initial blood loss stemmed and Vaynes' prayerful intervention, thankfully at no cost, seems to stabilise the sailor. Iggway shakes her head in dismay though for the pistol shot has shattered the mans' spine and even with intensive care, he may not walk again. There is nothing more you can do, save make him comfortable and hope further divine healing may cure his critical state. Buffeted by the ship stores collapsing on you as the ship violent lists, Iggway received her own injuries. -2hp.

Holden helps untangle Elijah while Plighty ' puts the stump in'. Despite falling stores they are able to put the musket man in the brig, Plighty returning to ' keep him company and teach him a lesson'. The pair able to make the brig guard come around and seat him, half stunned at his post. You both exit to the main deck.

Above Deck

Pocc, Siggard and Geoffrey are all able to dodge slipping man and cannon, grabbing onto the mast or rails and secure a safe grip.

Out to Sea

Rexlin is not so fortunate however and plunges into the cold Atlantic. Several other men grab the air and flail about. A few form a ring to support each other. Rexlin, floats away mindful of teeth from below. Wearing bulky studded armour and bronzed greaves, he struggles to keep his head above water. Not carrying too much weight save for crossbow and sword you flounder a little, not making much distance but keep afloat.

A familiar face appears by your side. "I won't gag too much, want to bet with me now?" exclaims Fishy. He keeps you steady and after several frantic minutes you notice a jolly boat being lowered from the stern.

The Aftermath.

The whales continue on in their migratory trail. Following plankton blooms and natural instinct to warmer breeding grounds. One baby whale is securely harpooned and towed along the rear of the ship. Three ton of fat and blubber will fetch a good price in the markets.

Two sailors are dead of wounds, half a dozen more missing believed drowned. Another dozen report to the sick bay.

The McGregor's Revenge has taken serious hull damage though thankfully all above the waterline. Two cannon slip overboard. The Officers report to hold an inquest, as do groups of men in various huddles.

In the meantime the sails are set and a new course is ordered. Cockburn Town harbour and the islands of the Turks and Caicos.

see about Carib and places forum for known information.

everyone place an action if you please, I will forward the narrative in a couple of days.

Geoffrey quickly jumps to aid those lowering the boat.
He looks around for any suspicious eyes ready to accuse him of causing the bad luck, once again.

Szmodics

Will rest if he can, joining the line if injured needing the medical services. "Are these leeches worth anything? Maybe we could farm them?"

Szmodics will also mention the bearded body he saw in the bilge near the prow. Seems like the leeches got to him.

Rexlin "Devil's Scowl" Dupre

At first Fishey and others think he may ne sputtering curses until he gets a good gulp of air, and they can clearly hear he is laughing... rough though it may be. To fiahy "Fine! I believe you! If they don't stretch my neck, introduce me to your Shaman and I'll buy the drinks!" After that he kicks hard towards the lifeboats half dragging fishy along if only to proove he isn't helpless.

Once he is in the boat he drags Fishy in "By the damned gills!" And sits down spitting water and cursing. "Did they at least get the damn sea cow? If they did, I'm gonna bite her ass when we drag her on deck. At least we'll eat well."

Holden runs across the deck to get a view of the migrating whales, he stares in astonishment, "Waaaaaah, such a view you only see once, I knew joining this ship would be the best choice I have ever made", with a pep in his step, he goes around asking if anyone needs help.

Old Eli pockets the musket and makes his way on deck. After learning what all the ruckus was about, and after the tumult subsides, he looks to get Perryman alone for a private talking.

Siggard is glad to still breath the salty sea spray in the air. He helps anyone who seems incapacitated on deck. Once the turmoil has died down, he tries to get close enough to the officers and captain to possibly overhear what they might be talking about.

He nonchalantly checks on his brachiate, making sure the little guy didn't get squished too bad in all the excitement. He stands in disbelief of everything that has occurred in the last little while.

McGregor's Revenge

It seems like a long time but it is only three days since you left St Eustatius. In that time the new crew are quickly baptised in the fires of privateer life. Rescuing a drifting sailor and defending the ship from a vengeful whale. Some of the old lag crew cast suspicious eyes to the sea priest Elijah, but fearful of his wild personae they leave him be. With several injured crew, Elijah is sent to bind wounds with Iggway under the 'Butcher'.the musket is returned to the guard armoury.

Mr Blood has earned respect and whetted his blade against an adversary. The dwarf draw his blade first and attacked, self defence is the verdict and Geoffrey is sent to duty in the rigging. Returning to your bunk after duty you find the dwarfs' short sword in your hammock.

"You get to keep what you earn from your opponent. Call it tradition, rest of his personals get posted off to next of kin. Mr Perryman will write a dutiful letter no doubt spinning a tale of heroism and fortune," one of the sailors say nonchalantly. Old Plighty gets released from his brig, replaced by the musket man who suffers a severe flogging at the hands of Rico.

Pocc, Smzodics. Zoggrot, Rexlin and Holden all set about tasks to haul the sails and steer the sloop NW and 'beam reach', perpendicular to the wind. It is hard sailing and the masts creak and groan. The starboard damage has opened a breach into the hull and galley and the wind buffets the ship. As many men are below deck moving store and crate and bodge jobbing the riven boat as are in the rigging. Siggard and Mr Perryman make copies notes on the success of the 'Boomstone' pebbles. As a precaution, a small bag is filled with new pebbles and locked in the mages desk.

After a full day blown about the McGregor's Revenge sights a few small trading boats. Sea going merchantmen and a slow galleon bearing an Iberian flag. Within an hour another escorted barque is spotted and following it several small single masted pinace, colourfully painted bearing tanned skinned sea gypsies. They wave and holler, holding out fresh fruit and multi coloured raiments.

Seeing the gash in the sloop side, they offer to 'salvage' the vessel and tow her into harbour.

The sloops 12 knots is still more than the native craftwork, under her own sail, Captain Lazarus docks the sloop into the harbour at Cockburn Harbour , South Caicos.

in the two days travel to get to the harbour, you spellcasters may refresh your memorised list ( telling the Captain of course, and may also attempt two further periods of study. I will deal with them in the private threads. If others want to use their off duty to speak to someone, go somewhere, then post up to.

Starting new thread: Turks and Caicos. See known information in the Carib backgrounds forum.
