Billy Barstowe

Feeling as if his heart is about to beat out of his chest, Billy dives for cover. Ohshitohshitohshitohshit! Unable to stop his hands from shaking, he draws his gun. Taking two deep breaths, he pops up and fires at the first gang member he sees. He hesitates for just a moment afterwards, before realizing he is now a target and ducks down again.

Deacon's first thought on seeing the gang bangers was to try and diffuse the situation so no one got hurt. Upon realizing they were the Dead Heads his second though of Oh shit! Don't do it Faf...was interrupted by gun fire as the young latino fired at the rival gang. As Billy joined in the fire fight, Deacon pulled his own .38, firing several shots at the closest gang member before moving to cover.

Approximately Noon (12:00 PM), Friday, May 1st, 1987; Parking Lot outside of the Imperial Court Apartments; Oakland, California

In the parking lot of a run-down Oakland apartment building, the May-day battle between a dozen gang-members and a newly created band of freedom fighters commenced....

Billy Barstowe, in his first gun-fight, dives behind a nearby car and pulls out his Dad's .45 pistol, cursing in fear and anxiety to himself the whole time. Aiming at a nearby gang member wielding a small 'Saturday-night Special' revolver, he pulls the trigger and puts a round right in the middle of the man's chest. The man seems to fold in on himself, clutching his middle and falling bent-over to his knees for a moment before collapsing face-first into the ground. Billy has little time to think about it as a bullet fired from a second Dead-head grazes his ear*; leaving his ears ringing and the burning, stinging sensation of the wound and the tickling sensation of small drops of blood dripping down into his ear as he drops behind the car still shaking with adrenaline and fear at the whole situation...

Jenny Ling, freezing up for a moment in fear at the insanely violent situation going on all around her, eventually snaps out of it and races to a nearby car where she drops down behind it and shakily pulls her little Beretta .32 pistol out of its holster while slowly registering the fact that the metal-on-metal sound that echoed right near her shoulder was related to the sight of the switchblade knife that landed with a bounce or two on the ground near her leg....obviously the result of a gang member having thrown it at her and just barely missing her with it....

FBI Special Agent Lisa Accardo reacted with the instincts that had been drilled into her by her training and she crouched down, drew her sidearm, flicked off the safety and put a round in the center-mass of a near-by gang member that was carrying a lit molotov cocktail. The man clutched his wound, dropping his weapon, which promptly exploded and splashed all over him and the ground nearby and the sight of the wounded man, rolling around on the ground aflame and screaming in terror was almost enough to distract her from the sight of another gang member rushing her with a switchblade in hand, screaming out obscenities at her as he closed to within a couple of yards...

Police Sergeant Deacon Hays; a veteran of the streets and once-upon-a-time of firefights in far-off jungles; reacted with finely honed instincts as well as he effortlessly drew his sidearm and took aim at a nearby Dead-Head wielding a .45. He put a pair of shots into the man, ending that particular threat forever and then moved to cover, crouching down behind a nearby, smashed-up station wagon and taking in the scene all around him before quickly dropping his head down as the side mirror of the station wagon shattered from a pistol shot fired by another gang member....

Saul Silverman was probably the only member of the group who instead of feeling their world speed up in a terrifying, blood-hammering in the ears kind of way; instead felt as if things were slowing down and he was once again doing what he was born to do....He quickly moved behind a parked Buick, registering that a gang member with a pistol had just fired at him and missed and that another with a Molotov cocktail was hurling it his way. Crouching down, unconcerned behind the engine block and front tire of the massive Buick, he calmly opened his Duffle bag and withdrew his Uzi submachinegun and blinked against the sudden bright flash of the cocktail landing on the other side of the car he had taken cover behind and shook off the heat-wave of the roaring flames that did nothing more than scorch the air around him while leaving him whole and in one-piece.....ready to enact vengeance on those fools who had attempted to harm him. He rose up with his Uzi in hand, stepping around the wave of hazy flames, taking aim at the pair of gang members, one holding a revolver and the other starting to unwind a length of chain from around his waist, who were suddenly staring slack-jawed at the sight of a man with blazing eyes and wielding a submachinegun pointed their way...

Raffy Cabrera moved behind a nearby car while drawing his little .32 revolver and staring at the leader of the Dead-Heads; a purple-mohawked thug by the name of 'Slug'. He yelled out a curse at his brothers' killer while taking aim and then he pulled the trigger and put a round high in the gang members shoulder. Slug roared in anger, but seemed little affected by the blood starting to stain his shirt and jacket as he rushed towards Raffy while hurling his switchblade at him with one hand and starting to unwind the length of chain around his waist with his other arm. The switchblade sliced into Cabrera's side**, causing him to hiss in pain and put one hand on the wound, coming away wet with blood while his eyes took in the sight of Slug leaping/sliding over the hood of the car he had taken cover behind and the metal of the chain in his hand flashed as it caught the sun for a moment and Raffy knew he was locked in mortal combat now....

*Billy was only grazed; no real game effect
**Raffy is wounded; he's at -1D for all future actions until patched up

OOC: The current situation is 3 gang members are down-and-out (2 shot and 1 shot and on-fire); 1 is wounded (Slug...the leader, fighting Raffy). No more Molotov cocktails are out; 1 was set-off by Lisa shooting the Dead-Head holding it and it exploding on him; the other missed Saul and is currently causing flames to burn on the front part of the car he's using for cover. 7 more are still in the fight with no injuries with 3 wielding pistols and 1 each shooting at Saul, Billy and Deacon. 4 more have Knives or Chains and 1 is rushing Lisa and another is somewhere near Jenny while the last 2 are crouching down and out of sight of everyone at the moment.

Saul feeling the heat from the molotov and fear that the car he is hiding behind may explode. He stands up firing his uzi the one with the revolver first then moving to the other. As he is firing Saul moves away from the car to a safer location.

Billy Barstowe

Flinching from the sting of being shot in the ear, Billy quickly presses a hand to the wound. Sonuva... Adrenaline still surging, Billy wants revenge! Quickly popping out of cover, he'll try to put a round in the chest of the punk that shot him.

Jenny glances down at the blade, then back up looking for the thrower.

"Get a grip Jenny, it's just like in the ER. With guns."

Jenny will try to spot the gang member who threw the blade, then aim at him.

Lisa curses her circumstances and sees the gang member charging her. She takes out her gun and fires off a shot at the man charging her with a knife.

Approximately Noon (12:00 PM), Friday, May 1st, 1987; Parking Lot outside of the Imperial Court Apartments; Oakland, California

Billy Barstowe, his ear still ringing and tingling in pain from the shot that just grazed it; felt a flood of anger rush through his system and he suddenly stood up from his crouched position of cover behind the front end of a parked car to point his .45 at the Dead-Head who had just shot him with a revolver and he pulls the trigger, sending a round straight into the gang member's chest and causing him to slump to the ground and then roll over and be eerily still….

Lisa Accardo; her FBI training taking over without her consciously aware of it; took steady aim at a gang-member rushing at her with a switchblade in hand and she calmly put a 9mm slug into his heart and the man half-spun and collpased to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut. She aimed for a second more to see if he would rise up and remain a threat, but when he didn't, she kept her pistol in a tight, two-handed grip just like she had been taught at the Academy and looked for the next target…

Jenny Ling took a deep breath to calm her nerves, and with her little Beretta in hand, she stood up to take aim at the nearest threat and her eyes got huge as a Dead-Head gang member rounded to her side of the car she had taken cover behind and lashed out with a length of chain. Jenny's martial-arts reflexes kicked in and she deftly took a step back as the end of the chain smashed into one of the side windows of the car with enough force to break it into a dozen sections of glass; all while keeping her pistol pointed at her target and her finger moved to curl around the trigger*….

Police SGT Deacon Hays scans the area for a pistol-armed Dead Hand and finds a mohawked target with a semi-automatic in hand and he takes quick aim and puts a pair of .38 special slugs from his Smith and Wesson revolver into the man, ending another thread, permanently. Quickly scanning the area for the next threat, he noticed a chain-wielding thug in close proxmity to Jennifer Ling, but the little nurse had a small pistol in her hand and pointed at the gang member…

The bleeding, enraged, purple-mohawked Dead-Head leader known as Slug had taken a bullet to the shoulder from Raffy Cabrera and blood was pouring down the front of the gang leader's chest as he stepped closer to Raffy and lashed out with a length of chain. The young Latino instictively put out his left forearm and the chain wrapped around his arm a couple of times, with enough force to cause a bit of a sting; but doing no serious harm**. Cabrera; his vision filled with the sight of the terrifying, red-eyed Dead Head leader and murderer of his brother at point blank range, raised his right hand which held a small .32 revolver and he rapidly pulled the trigger three times. His first two shots zipped past Slug's head, but his final shot slammed into his forehead and turning his face into a mass of gore as the big gang member fell to the ground in a bloody heap; leaving Raffy to stand there shaking with the adrenaline pumping through his veins for a long moment…

Saul Silverman adroitly stepped around the haze of the flame and smoke caused by the Molotove cocktail and raised his Uzi submachine gun at the two Dead heads who were shocked to see the sight of a man pointing a fully automatic weapon at them at very short range. With a pair of quick, four-shot bursts; Saul dropped both targets to the ground almost effortlessly and in the corner of his peripheral vision he saw and heard a pair of knife and chain wielding gang members who had circled around to get behind him suddenly yell out; "OH SH$T HE'S GOT A MACHINE GUN! TIME TO GET THE F- OUTTA HERE!" "I'M DOWN WITH THAT!" and take off in the opposite direction; leaping up onto the chain link fence on the opposite side of the parking lot to climb up and out quickly…

*Jenny will have a +1D for her Guns skill (so 4D+2) next round to shoot the Gang member right in front of her

**Raffy was only Grazed this time…lucky for him. He IS still Wounded from the Knife hit earlier though

***Saul, Lisa and Deacon would all quickly be able to tell that the only standing threat is the Chain-wielding gang member who's right next to Jenny right now

Billy Barstowe

Adrenaline still pumping, Billy gets the final gang member in his sights...and lowers his gun. With Jenny so close to his target, he can't take the shot for fear of hitting her.

Deacon Hayes

"Pull the trigger, Jenny! Shoot him!"yells Deacon. It looked to him like the nurse had frozen at the sight of the gang member so close. Bringing his service revolver up, he looks to see if he would have a clear shot at the Dead Header threatening her.

If he has a clear shot Deacon will fire the last two bullets in his revolver.

Lisa panics a bit, seeing Jenny with the thug near her, but before she could go take control the series of events flashed too quickly as she heard the gun fire from Jenny's hands. She let out a small gasp and held her gun up, surveying the scene to see if the man was hit or if she needed to down him to protect Jenny.

Approximately Noon, Friday, May 1st, 1987; Parking Lot outside of the Imperial Court Apartments; Oakland, California

The last gang-member alive and fighting in the parking lot advanced on Jenny Ling with a length of chain spinning in his hand and about to lash out when the nurse let out a breath and squeezed the trigger of her little Beretta Cheetah pistol….

The little .32 slug slammed into the Dead-head's chest and he froze for a moment with a look of disbelief in his eyes before his confused look vanished and a look of pained fury emerged instead. He started to lash out with his weapon but a pair of loud gunshots echoed through the air as Deacon moved to a perpendicular position from the scene where he didn't have to worry about hitting Jenny and he fired off the last 2 rounds in his revolver…

The pair of .38 special slugs slammed into the gang member from the side and dropped the man to his side onto the pavement, where after a few herky-jerky shudders, he lay very still and sudden silenced crashed in the ears of all of the new-fangled freedom fighters…

Saul spoke up and snapped them all out of it with a simple; "Alright then, who's car is where?" Deacon and Lisa let out deep breaths and quickly holstered weapons while moving to thier respective vehicles while Billy and Jenny shook like leaves for a moment as the adrenaline came crashing down out of thier system and they tried to come back to a sense of normality after thier first fire-fight. Raffy, meanwhile was busy snagging a switch-blade and empting a revolver for some spare .32 rounds from a fallen Dead-head…

Lisa was more than a little annoyed to learn that her little Ford Escort Hatchback had 3 slashed tires, a smashed-in windscreen and had scorch marks all over the side of it where some Dead-Head had set fire to it. It was pretty much useless as a vehicle unless they could scrounge up a trio of tires; but luckily the idiots gang members never bothered to search the inside of her car where her Backpack with some extra clothes and personal items were located along with Jenny's bag holding the same things and a second bag full of medical supplies. In addition, her FBI issued Bullet-proof vest and a set of handcuffs were untouched as well…

Deacon's big but run-down looking Oldsmobile Cutlass was untouched and in the trunk; the police officer's Shotgun, Bullet-proof vest, Nightstick, pair of Walkie-Talkies and handcuffs were all fine; as was Raffy's sloppily put-together bag of clothes and a MAC-10 submachine gun in the center of the rolled up clothes with a pair of clips and a second bag holding car tools and some lock picks. Deacon's car was big and roomy and could easily hold 5 of the group; and even all 6 if people didn't mind being QUITE close to each other….

Finnally, Billy's pickup truck was okay; the cars near-it had just started to get smashed up when clearly the battle broke out and interrupted the Dead-heads 'fun'; so it probably would have met a similiar fate if they hadn't come along when they did. Billy's hunting rifle and camping gear his Dad had given him were all untouched and good-to-go. The Truck could eaisly hold 2 in the cab or 3 if somebody small, like Jenny, Lisa or Raffy sat in the middle; and 2 or 3 more could sit in the cab with the gear if necessary.

Saul and Deacon knew the way to the Oakland Army Base by the docks; it wasn't more than a 15 or 20 minute ride…so long as the traffic and/or looting didn't slow them down/stop them...

The empty casings from Deacon's .38 tinkled loudly on the concrete in the quiet aftermath of the gunfight as he reloaded his weapon. "Jenny, Lisa, go check on that girl over there. We need to get her off the street." He takes a few minutes to check on the elderly couple before directing them to get to safety also. Lastly he checks the security guard and the dead thugs to see if they had any useful rounds left.

Only then does he go to the trunk of his car and dons his bullet proof vest and checks to make sure his shotgun was loaded. "We should take two vehicles in case we lose one on the way. I can take five here, the rest in the truck with Billy. Grab your gear and choose a ride." He hands one of the walkie talkies to Billy. "Just in case we get separated. We'll use channel 5."

Do we want to take any unused Molotovs? Might be useful..or we might set ourselves on fire :)

Saul- Speaks to Deacon I will ride in the pickup with Raffy. If we get separated on the way to the base we will meet outside the gates. At the diner parking lot. I am talking as though we know the area outside the gates. If not redirect me in the proper direction Saul grabs any weapons that not picked up and put them into his duffel bag. Lets move it is only going to get more dangerous out here.

Billy Barstowe

Holstering his gun, Billy realizes just what the situation has become. Holy shit! This is real. I mean, we're really going to have to kill others if we are going to survive. I hope I can handle it. Fumbling with his keys as the adrenalin is flushed from his system, he eventually manages to unlock the door. Hopping in, he reaches across and unlocks the passenger door. As he starts the engine, he pushes a cassette into the tape deck, electric guitars assaulting the eardrums of his passengers before he reluctantly turns down the volume to just south of painful. Handing off the walkie talkie, he will wait for Deacon to pull out and then follow him.

I think it could come in handy to have a few Molotovs if someone wants to grab any.
