Index of Dragon Magazine articles

#1 Post by ToniXX »

Some or maybe most of you probably already know about this site, but I wasn't aware until a few minutes ago. It's an alphabetical index of topics discussed in Dragon magazine over the years:

http://www.aeolia.net/dragondex/index.html

I guess it's only as good as your collection of Dragon Magazines but it seems pretty useful to me. Just thought I'd share.

Wow!

Did not know about that site but had heard whispered rumors of its existence.

Thank you for sharing that, ToniXX!! 8-)

I only recently learned of it myself. I was hoping it would had all the actual content and not just an index, but I agree it is a pretty nice reference.

Agreed. My library of Dragon Magazine would have to be a bit larger before an Index was of any use to me.

That's where the CD-ROM Archive comes in real handy. :)
This is a game about killing things and taking their stuff so you can become more powerful in order to kill bigger things and take even better stuff.

Inferno: Come on! That's was Vicar's Head, a completely different doomed village!
Rex: I can move to the wait list to let someone else into the game.

I love reading some of those questions...
In GODS, DEMI-GODS AND HEROES it says that a forty-plus level character is ridiculous. In our game we have two characters that are at one thousand-plus level. This happened in 'Armageddon,' a conflict between the gods and the characters. Of course, the characters won. What do you think about that?
Obviously, they aren't in a Play-by-Post game!

Mostly I was saying that I started the Legacy game 2.5 years ago as a 5th level thief and I'm still a 5th level thief. Can't imagine how long it would take me to get to level 1000.

Also, I can't imagine a game where your DM somehow thought getting to level 1000 was appropriate would be any fun...

a. That looks like a great resource and general reading room
b. Many, many people have accused archive.org of violating copyright by sharing works without the publishers/creators permission
c. Dragon magazine is not an "orphan" work
d. archive.org's typical excuses for hosting works not out of copyright simply don't apply to Dragon magazine

Alright, well I know there was another archive I was reading the old copies from works dating back to the 80's & 90's it was not archive.org If I can find it again I might post it here. Just trying to avoid getting anyone into trouble including this forum/community.

I I have no clue if the site is "acceptable" or not but to comment to point b. above, accusations are in and of themselves meaningless and should always be treated that way. Did said accusations actually lead to a lawsuit that the site lost? Thus proving the accusation correct. If an accusation lead to the site taking down something they had posted doesn't that indicate a proper response on there part, everyone makes mistakes after all.

I found the place I used for reading the articles during my podcast days.

https://annarchive.com has both Dungeon Mag and Dragon Mag older issues.

He's mostly known for his work in 5e, but M.T. Black shared the following in his latest newsletter which might be of interest to the larger population here:
"Finally, here's a little something from my own pen. I'm a fan of RPG history, and I've decided to review each issue of the old Dragon Magazine on my blog. You can read my review of issue #1 here. Please have a look; it's fun!"
