Re: DCC Lankhmar
The wife and I just played in a playtest game of this last weekend at Garycon.
It was really great, even if it was only for 3 1/2 hours.

Cool. I haven't yet, but I'm tempted to pick this up (even though I'm not really familiar with the characters, or the setting, or the rule set).OGRE MAGE wrote:The wife and I just played in a playtest game of this last weekend at Garycon.

P.S. My brother ran games at Garycon on Saturday.

Go to your local library and pick up some Fritz Leiber this weekend, man. Good stuff.dmw71 wrote:... I'm not really familiar with the characters, or the setting...

I'll add something by him to my list. Any suggestions which one to start with?Alethan wrote:Go to your local library and pick up some Fritz Leiber this weekend, man. Good stuff.
Naturally, none of his works appear to be available on Kindle Unlimited.

What did he run?dmw71 wrote: My brother ran games at Garycon on Saturday.
Sometimes this summer I will most likely be participating in another 24 hour game of Dungeons & Dragons as part of Extra Life. This organization uses gaming to help raise money to donate to children's hospitals. I'm raising money for Marshfield Children's Hospital in Marshfield, WI, and all money I raise will go to that hospital. All donations are tax-deductible. Please take a moment to check out my donation page below. Thank you.

Re: DCC Lankhmar
An adventure he wrote himself in 2014 that he ran the previous year as well. He changed the name of it from the original copy he sent me (I'm not sure to what), but it was at least tentatively titled 'The Mad Myconids.'Scott308 wrote:What did he run?dmw71 wrote: My brother ran games at Garycon on Saturday.
Re: DCC Lankhmar
That looks very cool & thanks for the heads up here, Dave!
Always loved the Fafhrd & Gray Mouser novels as well as the Lankhmar/Nehwon setting. Back in my frantic FtF gaming days, I got a ton of use out of an old TSR supplement/splat book (#9162 circa 1985) for use with AD&D called "Lankhmar: City of Adventure". Wonderful maps and encounter tables along with all the Lankhmar/Nehwon setting specific stuff like factions & guilds, deities & gods, animals & monsters, etc.
Far as Kickstarters go, however, I'm currently working with a 1-4 record. Not good odds I know, but my personal experience shouldn't dissuade folks from being a part of them, especially since Goodman Games is the only one that actually came through! (their 1st Edition Metamorphosis Alpha Reboot was beyond rad!)
I'd read the entire Fafhrd & Gray Mouser series, Dave. In chronological order, of course, starting with Swords And Deviltry!

Re: DCC Lankhmar
So, has any of the other backers tried it out already? Care to share your impressions?
Personally, I like it. And the optional rule about unarmored AC seems like it would be lots of fun.
Not to mention that it should allow you to emulate better the source material, too, at least if your players get some good rolls!
