Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Kiri glances around to see if anyone noticed his comically errant throw, then saunters over and nonchalantly retrieves his axe.
Glancing at the weapons, he says ”Someone should use those. Nice weapons - not really my style.” He then turns and watches as Xorzen tries on the ring, looks for any evidence of change, then asks, ”What’s it do?”

Mako:
"What makes you think the ring is magical in nature? And if it is, was putting it on the wisest move, not knowing it's properties?" Mako examines the flask. "This flask, should it contain liquid, be consumed with such a blindness? These walls try to kill us at ever step, so why not it's possessions too? I want nothing to do with these until we can determine their nature." Mako place the flask back down from where he picked it up.

Garrin is happy to let the others distribute the remaining magical items.
"It sounds like this door leads us further towards our goal. Shall we enter now, or rest first before delving below?"

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Shrine of the Entombed Dead (38), Fourth Tier of the Great Pyramid
Lost City of Khemsa, Forgotten Kingdom of Verulia, Great Eastern Desert, the World of Hyboria
Day Two. Nightfall. 14th day of the month of Yuluk, 1279th year of the Age of Aquilonia
Motivated by altruism, self interest, revenge, survival and greed, the unlikely assemblage of outlanders and bitterly divided Verulians regroup and catch their breath before the unyielding portal.
Zahra the amazon translates a fearsome curse of the ancients, carved upon the ensorcelled door:
"Death To All Faithless Desecrators of Those Who Dream In Eternity's Embrace.
I Curse Any Who Enter Here, In The Name of Xuthalhotep, Pharaoh of Pharaohs."
Hawk-masked Xorzen returns the black javelin, certain that its magic renders it more deadly. As the disciple of Osorus steps off the weighted ramp from the third tier, it slowly begins to rise up, returning to its place, high above in the towering ceiling. The wooden control lever in this room was apparently broken off by a slaughtered skeleton that still holds it in its death grip. Xorzen easily grasps the slowly ascending ramp so they are not trapped, like the twin demons were, in a room whose only door is sealed by sorcery.
Arthfael of Cimmeria examines the exquisite, jewel-hilted dagger, and the gold ring.
The ring depicts a winged emerald star flanked by serpents of Sutekh. Xorzen requests it. Loche the Pict thief admires the dagger.
Garrin, son of Atlantis, says, "It sounds like this door leads us further towards our goal. Shall we enter now, or rest first before delving below?"
Roan the barbarian growls, "The door is bound shut by some damned witchcraft."

Zahra
The albino warrior, who has been strangely silent even for her, nods. If nothing is threatening us, we should definitely rest. Better to face the unknown when we are fresh.
She settles herself facing up the ramp to help guard the way back, in case of an attack from that direction.

"I do not know these items' make," says the sorcerer, "but perhaps I can discern their enchantment." He casts Identify on the ring.

While the others decide whether to rest or not, Roan, Son of Rune walks over to the far corner of the room for a long piss. Sighing in the relief, the Vanir finishes dousing the walls of the ancient pyramid and returns to his companions.
"Which is it then? Rest or going through that door?"

"Zahra is right. Resting is the wisest move." says Kiri. "Though perhaps we should jam this ramp to prevent its closing first. Or sleep upstairs. Also, we should put someone on monkey watch." He will take out his unworn greaves and try to jam them into the wedge were the ramp meets the ceiling above. "I wasn't using them anyway," he says. "Been carrying these things around for months."

Xorzen offers back the ring for further inspection as he picks up the flask to take a closer look. He opens the bottle and takes a sniff.

Amethu the Verulian wizard casts a magic spell and within his unseen sorcerous aura, his mind germinates like a flower, cascading open and seeing all.
He focuses the enlightened sight of his Ka upon the magic ring and all its mysteries are his to behold: The Golden Circle of Sutekh was forged in Ancient Verulia when the bricks of Atlantis were yet unbaked. Created by the vizier of a long-forgotten pharaoh, it protects the wearer, especially from sorcery. (+1 Ring of Protection, +2 to saving throws vs Spells)
When the arcane incantation fades, Amethu almost falls unconscious.
Meanwhile, Roan the barbarian noisily drains his bladder against a wall.
Loche the Pict asks Arthfael for the jeweled dagger and checks the enchanted door again, finding no traps laying in wait. Kiri props open the secret weighted ramp to the third tier.
Weary and wounded, the explorers of the Great Pyramid rest here for the night. They set a watch, guarding each other as they sleep, but only from earthly terrors.
For all the outlanders dream of a terrible eye. A malevolent lurker at the edge of their minds.
Zargoth.
The heinous nightmare in the darkness. The all-seeing demon god of the dreaming pyramid.
The sleeping explorers breath quicker and goosebumps crawl along their flesh.
Amethu, Xorzen and Zahra have no memories of their dreams.
Night passes and no savage horror comes lunging out of the darkness of the ageless pyramid. By dawn, the sorcerous power of the wizards is restored. And the miraculous healing mists of Osorus, of which the outlanders breathed deeply, cure all their many wounds.
They are ready to move on. But the spellbound door to the ancient crypts still blocks their path.

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Kiri sleeps just fine considering he was nearly crushed to death and then stared into the face of a demon yesterday. Upon awaking he studies his magics as his grandfather taught him, murmuring quietly to himself in a kind of droning constant singsong of foreign syllables. He then stands up, smiles and bows slightly at whoever is up, pulls the mysterious scroll from his pack and carefully unrolls it. Sitting cross-legged on the floor, he chants again, louder now, then closes his eyes and lifts the amulet bearing his grandfather’s upside-down visage to his forehead and scans the page to reveal what sort of magic or information it conceals. Anyone paying close attention might believe that the expression on that amulet has changed slightly to one of focused concentration, but it’s probably just the light.

Zahra
The tall albino wakes refreshed and smiling. She re-braids her hair and begins some slow stretches, readying her muscles for the day's events. After she putsd on her gear, she examines the sealed door, in the unlikely even that she can read any of the inscriptions.

Shrine of the Entombed Dead (38), Fourth Tier of the Great Pyramid
Lost City of Khemsa, Forgotten Kingdom of Verulia, Great Eastern Desert, the World of Hyboria
Day Three. Dawn. 15th day of the month of Yuluk, 1279th year of the Age of Aquilonia
Having read the ancient curse, Zahra the amazon deciphers other hieroglyphs carved upon the sealed door. They confirm that beyond this portal lie the burial chambers for the eternal remains of Xuthalhotep, his queen, and the royal court who lived during their peerless reign.
Kiri of the East opens the bone scroll case recovered from the ages-old slaughter in the summoning chamber above. The Kambujan conjurer unfurls the papyrus found within.
He casts a wondrous enchantment that bestows upon himself the power to comprehend arcane cuneiforms of power.
Kiri understands these parchments to hold many magic spells, both sorcerous and divine.
(Cleric spells: Augury, Cure Disease, Cure Serious Wounds, Remove Fear
Magic-User spells: Burning Hands, Knock, Mirror Image, Shield)
