Nice quick thinking. Time it so the effects take place at the intersection. At 2nd level you can effect 10 cubic feet to enlarge which should be enough to get it stuck. The only issues if it doesn't get stuck you will be with 10' of it, the maximum distance to cast the spell.

I think the Enlarge spell is bloody brilliant! Personally, I'm a sucker for "the rule of Cool", so it would automatically work in my game. Of course, Inferno is the final judge...

This is a great idea!

I'm a little unsure what to do here... Kiri took Hold Portal (range 20') today for just such an occasion, after the sand trap disaster, so his instinct would be to do that. But it sounds like the ball is already rolling? Would he have had time to cast it before the wall fully opened? Because if so, and even at the risk of wasting a spell due to the even better Enlarge idea, that's what he would have done...

If that works and it puts the stone in the intersection, Arthfael may get stuck on the wrong side of the rock.

If this works, and some one does stuck on the other side, we could secure folks in the room to the south, then wedge the rock somehow (maybe a rope and spike or something), then when the enlarge wears off the rock will roll (or is pushed) down the fall past the door folks took shelter in.

Now that I think about it, if this does work, we'll need to think through what to do indeed when the spell does wear off :)
