Dreamlands (ooc and questions l)
Re: Dreamlands (ooc and questions l)
Cool. All is well. Hopefully, Garrin doesn't destroy us all.

It's all good. I mean, when was the last time you heard of something bad happening in DnD because somebody pushed a button....

FYI
I am heading out on vacation for a couple of weeks.
I will still try to post when I can, but I might miss a day or two here and there.
Back on 5/6.

Hey guys,
I've wrestled with this decision for quite some time, but I'm going to have to take a break from the boards.
Kids, job, and real life in general are leaving me with no time to properly post and play the way that I would like. I have really had a great time DMing and playing here on US in the past year and a half, and hopefully I will be able to return at some point.
Take care and thank you for your storytelling and creativity,
~Mark

Take care, Mant. Thanks for gaming with us. Good luck.
Moving this to the OOC thread:
Dads, think of the rotating hall as an elevator. There's a single button outside to "call" it. Inside it are many buttons to choose your destination.

Chub is right.ChubbyPixie wrote:The first sarcophagus button we pushed wasn't on the panel, but on the door...DadsAngry wrote:Mako:
"No Aerthfael you are confused. You first pressed Sarcophagus at the beginning of the hall. Keep the symbols the same. We are in Sarcophagus and Sarcophagus. Perhaps if we all stand outside of the hall and press the Sarcophagus button again the door will close and let us choose another hallway? Either way I think the door must be shut for the hallway to move."
OCC: Were all the symbols raised or was only the Sarcophagus symbol raise at the first panel when we first approached it? Was the door closed to the hallway before Aerthfael pushed the symbol?

Well, like an elevator with poisonous darts or flaming jets... (I haven't read your latest post yet, so I don't know how we all die...)

Can you please give me some examples of when he would and wouldn't fire, so I know what to do? Thanks!
Fyi, Rules on firing missiles in a melee are at DMG p.63.

Ha. Despite your customary modesty, Chub, congrats on sussing out the revolving corridor almost immediately.ChubbyPixie wrote:"No, no, Arthfael, it must be simultaneous - just pushing a single button will never..." begins Kiri when he's interrupted by the sudden grinding of stone as the doors shut. "...Oh," he adds as the floor seems to shift beneath their feet.
This dungeon feature would play hell with PC mapping. But PbP communication can be murky enough, so I'll depict more than I should to avoid the game devolving into a total quagmire of confusion.
On to the monkeys!
Re: Dreamlands (ooc and questions l)
The revolving corridor is a first for me, never actually encountered that.
If, and ONLY if, Kiri, Garan & Roan actually duck/hug walls at his warning, would he actually launch. It may be a doubtful thing, since one is a Paladin and another a Barbarian like himself. Shame to lose that 20, but it happens! Can you please give me some examples of when he would and wouldn't fire, so I know what to do?

Re: Dreamlands (ooc and questions l)
Reading Inferno's last group post, reminded me of one of my favorite books (see below).
If you have not read this great series, do yourself a favor and dive in!

Re: Dreamlands (ooc and questions l)
Is that the series with Severian(?) the Torturer? I think I read it when I was about 13. I remember it was good, but I probably didn't understand chunks of it. Now would probably be a good time to hit it again. Thanks!

Re: Dreamlands (ooc and questions l)
Kind of cheating, since it's a thing that can only readily be deduced from an overhead map. Still, Kiri is smarter than I am in real life, so I feel confident he'd be able to figure it out.Inferno wrote:This dungeon feature would play hell with PC mapping. I also read one of Gene Wolf's torturer books when I was in high school. Will have to look again. Thanks, hedge.
