Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Loche whips a dagger out and tentatively tosses it at the human-like former statues in an attempt to gauge a reaction.
Dagger, thrown THACO 20 [1d20+1] = 4+1 = 5 Damage [1d4] = 1
That can't be good.

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Dropping his torch, Roan, Son of Rune, runs forward, grabs the newly found javelin on the ground, and with a barbaric yell, hurls it at one of the statues (the one on the right).
Javelin: [1d20+3] = 11+3 = 14, [1d6+4] = 3+4 = 7
Regardless if he hits or misses, Roan then grips his new battle axe and charges in!
(I post this in case I'm absent and you need to move forward.)

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Using the huge pillar directly in front of him as cover, Xorzen unleashes one of his own normal javelins from his quiver at the oncoming monstrosity.
Javalin Attack [1d20] = 2 Damage [1d6+1] = 5+1 = 6
He readies himself to rush back up the stairs if the others start to get slaughtered.

Arthfael reflects on the Balance. The trouble in trying to stay neutral, he notes, is that evil is so eager to attack on sight. It's hard to be neutral to those that are not neutral to you.
He calls on the spirits of the air to light up around one of the creatures of Sutekh.
Cast faerie fire.

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Zahra's catlike reflexes take over when the statues begin to move, and even as they appear to become flesh, her body moves in a fluid motion like a spring uncoiling. Her arm whips forward in a powerful arc, hurling her javelin at the right-hand statue.
As soon as it leaves her hand, she rips her long blade free of its scabbard and readies herself for close combat.
(2nd attempt, 1st timed out) Attack with thrown javelin: [1d20+3] = 2+3 = 5, damage: [1d6+3] = 6+3 = 9

Shine of the Entombed Dead, Fourth Tier of the Great Pyramid
Lost City of Khemsa, Forgotten Kingdom of Verulia, Great Eastern Desert, the World of Hyboria
Day Two. Sunset. 14th day of the month of Yuluk, 1279th year of the Age of Aquilonia
Jackal demons awaken in the shrine of the dead. "More bloodshed, at last," one snarls in a long dead tongue. The other growls, "Freedom at last."
As the wicked things slowly emerge from a strange hibernation of countless years, the explorers don't hesitate, leaping into action with abandon.
Arthfael of Cimmeria sows a sorcerous seed that blossoms into an arcane glow emanating from one of the Typhonian Beasts (D2), enabling the adventurers to see it more clearly in the subterranean shadows.
A bone dagger flashes from Loche's hand and cuts past the merciless avatar.
Roan's savage nature responds with all the fury of the wild. The barbarian catches up the enchanted javelin at Amethu's feet, moves north to get a clear view, and hurtles it with all his strength into the glowing emissary of death (D2). Its spearhead sinks deep into a muscled chest.
The Son of Sutekh beats the spear down and it clatters to his feet, revealing an open wound on his breast. Whatever these things are, they can bleed.
Xorzen takes cover behind a great stone pillar and he and Zahra each fire a javelin that hums past a ferocious hellion.
Kiri moves to see beyond the pillars and looses two arrows from his short bow at the lambent manifestation of Sutekh (D2). Both fly true but barely gash the supernatural monster!
Mako holds his position as Amethu quickly gathers up the remaining enchanted treasure at his feet in case they need to flee in haste.
Garrin of Argos charges in without fear but his blessed sword swishes empty air.
Depraved jackal jaws smile chillingly as they utter a lost form of Verulian, "We bring Sutekh's gift of death to all humans."
Then the two savage beasts lunge.
SKRASSHH! Zahra gets her shield up just in time to avoid being run through by the murderous thrust of a 12 foot long spear! (D1)
The other, luminous demon (D2) barks a heathen battle-cry and drives his spear with a strength terrible enough to make naught of Garrin's magical shield and the mail behind it!
But somehow, the spearhead does not land. By the miraculous power of Mitra, Garrin is saved from the fell-handed impalement!
Actions?!

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Garrin whispers a quick prayer of thanks to Mitra, for once again saving his life. Garrin reminds himself to strive to be worthy of his god's mercy.
Redoubling his efforts, Garrin again attacks the foul thing.
Attack on D2 [1d20+3] = 11+3 = 14
Included +2 from the Faerie Fire spell. If that's a hit:
Damage on D2 [1d12+1] = 3+1 = 4

Re: Chapter 8: Necropolis of Eternity
Xorzen's eyes widen when he sees the spear blow land ineffectively against the holy warrior. When he notices that these creatures can be injured, it is all it takes for the masked human to spring into action.
He follows the path of Garrin, getting close enough to the monster to safely throw his own enchanted javelin. Trying to keep a safe distance away from the melee, he then dives forward, trying to pick up the swatted javelin that Roan threw.
Javalin Attack [1d20] = 15 Damage [1d6+1] = 4+1 = 5

"If they can bleed, they can die!" shouts the Vanir, rushing in with the new axe he gathered from the dead. He swings with a grunt...to little or no effect.

Mako:
Mako watches the battle from his position hoping the gods will favor his side. He take out the waterskin with the font of the fountain. He clutches it in his hands ready to come to the aid of the first fallen.

Arthfael stands back, certain that the most promising of his remaining offensive spells—one that calls upon the spirits of metal to excite, heating the metal—would be useless against these foes.

Loche takes cover behind the pillar to his left and takes out his sling. He fires at the monster being flanked in front of him while trying to stay concealed.
Sling Attack: [1d20+1] = 3+1 = 4 Damage [1d4] = 4
Loche swears to himself: Ah cannae seem tae skelp th' pure wide side o' pyramid th'day!!!
Translation: I can't seem to hit the broad side of pyramid today!!!

Lost City of Khemsa, Forgotten Kingdom of Verulia, Great Eastern Desert, the World of Hyboria
Day Two. Sunset. 14th day of the month of Yuluk, 1279th year of the Age of Aquilonia
The maelstrom of battle whirls around them as white fangs bark with wild rage at the holy aura that seemingly shields Garrin, son of Atlantis!
Mako of the distant East readies his waterskin of healing waters, believing its miraculous properties will soon be needed.
Loche the Pict takes cover behind an ancient, monolithic pillar and sends a sling stone whistling past Roan's ear before it smashes into the wall behind him.
Xorzen and Kiri charge Garrin's hideous adversary! (D2) The barbarous aspect of Death beats down Kiri's trident. But Garrin's blessed sword is a blur of silver that hacks deep into a shoulder, aided by Arthfael's glowing enchantment. Then Xorzen lunges with his enchanted javelin, impaling the fell horror through the thigh! The spearhead explodes out the back of his leg in a spout of crimson!
The wounded avatar (D2) retaliates against Xorzen, savagely thrusting his giant spear to decapitate a head, but he misses completely! Believing that Xorzen is also somehow shielded by means not of this Earth, it barks at its feral brother.
Amethu, Xorzen and Zahra can decipher only some of the ages-dead language: "These mortals are protected by higher powers!"
Roan and Zahra attack the other snarling demon thing! (D1) Their blades careen off its otherworldly armor or swish empty air. And, distracted by its twin's words, the infernal jackal's spear strike is easily evaded by Roan the barbarian.
Both minions of Sutekh, having failed to land a single blow, misjudge the situation. Eyes blazing like trapped tigers, they both coil and lunge for the ramp to the third tier, where stand Amethu, Arthfael and Mako!
Actions?! (Next round, the demons will leave their current melees. Garrin, Kiri, Roan, Xorzen and Zahra each get one free opportunity attack, in addition to their normal actions)

Kiri heaves his two-handed sword up and over his head and brings it down at the closest demon, putting all his considerable strength into the swing. As the abomination runs for the ramp, he brings the sword back up, diagonally, pushing upwards with all his strength:
