To be sure they aren't left behind, AdaRue pockets the silver keys and gold while the others search the room. We should find a place to hole up and heal up. But I wonder what is behind that door. Maybe we could use this room...

Let'sgrab any cash and pull back out of here as quickly as possible, says Dimly. This is not a good place; we should exit these tunnels and make camp outside. He waits with nocked arrow until the rest of the party withdraws, then follows to cover the retreat.

Junius agrees they should move back out to safer quarters... out of the cave itself or at least the room where the bullying was happening.

Junius makes it known that he is prepared to lead the group -- elsewhere in the goblin halls, or outside.

AdaRue pockets the silver keys and gold while Horatio pokes at the bedrolls for any additional valuables. Finding none, the dwarf begins to search the walls for secret doors. Nothing yet.

Canun makes sure that he sees all the gold his fellow cleric is handling, and makes a mental note to ensure he gets his share. He then moves to the door at the end of the passage in the far corner and presses his ear against the wooden door, efforting to hear any sounds coming from the other side.

The cleric strains to listen, and pulls his head back with a slightly confused look on his face. The sounds were faint, but Canun believes he heard screams... or possibly hideous laughter?

Return to the Entrance
Ignoring the sounds heard coming from beyond the extra door in the guard's room, Junius leads the group out of the room and left, back towards the main passage, which sprung from the entrance.

Turning left at the cave-in, the group passes two branches off to their right -- the first of which led to a door the group didn't explore, and the second leading to the mold-filled "stinky" room.

They next pass the branch off to their left, where Gooban was encountered... and executed.

The main entrance, still exposed after the destruction of the great seal, looms approximately 50-feet further down this main passage after passing this left branch:

Outside, the entrance to the goblin halls are found at the base of the Daakencraags -- a great mountain range which spans from the point of the entrance far off to the northwest. Less than an hour to the south is the Darkenwolde Forest. Brighton itself is a couple hours travel along the Brother's River.

Canun kind of forgot how long and dangerous the trek back is. "Some poor bastard was being tortured back there. Now, it's his own damn fault for getting caught, but we could be handsomely rewarded for bringing him back. Besides, maybe we raid that room and find it's a good place to hole up.
We're just as likely to get attacked heading back...or coming here again. Come on, AdaRue, you don't want to leave a poor man behind to be tortured by those goblins, do you? Would your god ever forgive you?"

Hearing that a prisoner was being tortured, Dimly winces with regret. It'll do him no good if we charge in too weak to succeed at a rescue, he says. If he's survived this long, mayhap he can survive another day. The rocky terrain north of here would be fine if we can find adequate cover, or we could camp just inside the forest, just an hour's march away.

AdaRue struggles with the choice presented. If we'd known earlier... But now. So weakened... And we may run into more goblins if we go back. I don't see how we could. We have to hope Dimly is right and the poor soul can survive another day. She points out that a forest floor is more comfortable to sleep on, but often buggier.
