OOC II
Re: OOC II
I think part of the issue there is that those of us who thought the plan was always to make a quick trip back to town and head right back to the caves assumed that we didn't have to argue for what we thought the plan already was.
That's an ugly damn sentence, but I don't have time to fix it. In short: please don't assume that silence means indifference.

Re: OOC II
I vote that we go back one more time, as that seems to be what we intended originally. If we have to run back to town again with our tails tucked between our legs, then we give up for now and pursue the other hooks?

Re: OOC II
Yeah, I assumed we were going back. it's not going to get any easier than goblins and fire beetles, right?
Re: OOC II
Are these votes to return to the cave now instead of following the old man (as Hastin and Rainey already declared they're doing), or after meeting him? If necessary, I can revise the update with the old man to make it so that sequence never happened if the group wants to keep focusing on the cave.

Re: OOC II
Might as well see what the old codger has to say...
Re: OOC II
Personally, I'm in favor of getting back to the caves and saving the codger for later if we need another hook.
Re: OOC II
I guess I sorta assumed the codger was part of getting back into the cave, but I suppose it's not obviously that. If want to either pause the codger or have him tell us "not safe, meet me in there days in the woods" I'm cool with that. I feel like we have a goal, but if he's gonna tell us something about the cave, I'd be all ears.

Re: OOC II
I agree that the intent of going back to town was to heal up, then return to the cave. AdaRue was on board with that. Dave asked for a vote and i didnt really care where we headed, but fully anticipated we would just go back to the cave.
If, to speed things along, folks want to just go to the cave, lets do that. I signed on for a mega dungeon. Let's get crawling! (Or not. ..whatever the majority says...)

Re: OOC II
We can go back. I wasn't trying to hold things up. Mila will always go with the group, too much a coward to be alone even in the "safty" of town. I was just RPing her out. Sorry, I should have posted something here or as OOC to let everyone know. That's purely on me.

Please roll to see the number of hit die affected -- 2d8. If not provided, I will roll for you once I work on the next update.drpete wrote:Rainey steps forward, anxiously, and tries to cast sleep on the snake.

Re: OOC II
I'm interested in performing an experiment, and I'm wondering if this group would be willing to give it a shot.
My idea is for the players to temporarily^1 relinquish all^2 die rolls to me, as the DM. To hit rolls, damage rolls, saving throws, ability checks, etc.... I want to see if/how the game changes when the only thing a player needs to do is focus on their characters' actions, with no idea what the outcome will be.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Let's discuss.

^1 Unless it works, in which case we can continue with it.
^2 I can't think of any offhand, but a situation may arise where I would request a specific roll from a player.

Re: OOC II
Sorry, Dave, but I sort of hate that idea for an OD&D basic game. I'm big in the "roll my own" camp, especially when the game is combat-heavy. And it's not how the game was advertised.
Re: OOC II
No one is being forced into anything, so don't worry. I'm still interested in opinions, though.
It's something I want to try, and I will create a "dummy" game to test it if necessary.

Re: OOC II
I have no objection, either way.
Re: OOC II
Ditto, with the one reservation that we are able to request it back to normal later if we begin to feel awkward, and perhaps if those not interested would still be able to roll their own.drpete wrote:I have no objection, either way.
