OOC I
Re: OOC I
Since we're coming up to where it might start to matter... looking at Rainey's inventory, it seems we were in the middle of a delve and he was holding (lit) the fifth (of 8? Whatever the standard bundle is) torch of his inventory. I haven't touched anything yet, but how should I update that? Back to full torches, used up that one he was on when the last game ended, or...? Whatever's fine, just let me know how you want to handle it.
Re: OOC I
Yes, please reset all recycled characters. Full torches, full arrows, etc...
Re: OOC I
I've noticed your posting for Tippin has been more sporadic, and Keebler seems to be the main character you're controlling.Zhym wrote:I'd be happy to put either Keebler or Tippin on the backup shelf.
Did you decide you want to just play the one for now, and work Tippin in later?
Re: OOC I
No. It's just that Keebler, with his infravision, has been more involved in exploring the dark cave while Tippin has hung back with the group for the moment. Also, we'd been moving at faster than the advertised posting rate---which is fine! But it means DM posts have happened before Tippin needed to speak up.
I suspect that when the entire group is together again, Tippin will again be the more active and loquacious.

Okay, cool. Just double-checking.Zhym wrote:No. It's just that Keebler, with his infravision, has been more involved in exploring the dark cave while Tippin has hung back with the group for the moment.
Re: OOC I
The entry passage varies in width from between 5- and 10-feet, so positioning will dictate whether one or two melee attackers can take action at the same time.Rusty Tincanne wrote:How tight is the tunnel? Who can get into melee?
I didn't have it built at the time, and wasn't sure I was even going to use them, but I've gone ahead and created a 'map' of current situation (the 'Round 0' post has been edited to include this map and clarify positioning.) Note, in the above, there is not much room at the entry area, not not everyone will be able to fit unless the characters already below advance, or create some extra space in another manner. Two characters can complete the decent per round -- AdaRue and Mila will be able to enter the cave in time for round 2. Whether there's room for Watts and Tippin, for round 3, will ultimately depend.
---
Also, while not a 'house rule' per se, I've added a 'Combat' section to my set of house rules with some relevant quotes from the rulebook, just to clarify what is allowed per round in LL. As always, I, as LL, will have final say over what is and what isn't possible.[/ooc]

Re: OOC I
Oooh! That's fancy looking! How did you make that image?
I'll wait on any actions then. I wasn't understanding that AdaRue wasn't there yet. Good to know.

Re: OOC I
I use Roll20 to build the maps. Once upon a time, I purchased a ton of map tiles and tokens which do make some pretty cool maps.Rusty Tincanne wrote:Oooh! That's fancy looking! How did you make that image?
Re: OOC I
Actually, Junius did not include his +1 to his damage, which will even further damage the beetle, but with his natural 20, he gets to roll for damage twice and keep the better off the two outcomes.
The beetle, at best, will be clinging to life, but there's also a chance it could be killed!
We'll find out soon.

Re: OOC I
The beetle is dead.
I'm driving into work at the moment, so I'll update the situation once I reach the office.
But, in the meantime, feel free to begin discussing post-encounter plans.

Re: OOC I
I see the AC listed as 4 on the main page of the character sheet, but only leather and shield listed on the 'Inventory' tab, which is what I have to go by.Zhym wrote:Junius is AC 8? Holy moly, that's awfully soft for a front-line fighter.
Re: OOC I
He rolled a pretty crappy starting gold. I am hoping they find a hidden stash of dwarven made chain really soon...Zhym wrote:Junius is AC 8? Holy moly, that's awfully soft for a front-line fighter.
oh, and crap. That was because the original Junius had more gold than sense and bought more armor.

Re: OOC I
I just corrected it.
Should be AC 6 (leather, shield, dex bonus) for frontal attack...

I've updated my footer information as well. I actually missed that you had a shield since it was further down in your list of equipment.onlyme wrote:I just corrected it.

Re: OOC I
LL follows AD&D, where leather equals AC 8; whereas BX has leather at AC 7. (BX also famously had plate mail valued at a mere 60 gp.)Zhym wrote:I just noticed that leather armor is one AC better in B/X (7) than in LL (8). Huh.
The difference in leather armor is an interesting fact I didn't catch earlier.
Re: OOC I
That's part of why I love B/X. A fighter can be decently protected right out of that gate. Not that it will help him live much longer.
LL is kind of a weird hybrid between AD&D and B/X. The AC of someone without any armor is 9 in LL, just as in B/X, instead of the 10 that AD&D uses.

Re: OOC I
That, actually, is why I almost prefer LL to BX. 60gp for plate is insane.Zhym wrote:That's part of why I love B/X. A fighter can be decently protected right out of that gate. Not that it will help him live much longer.
Re: OOC I
It's easier to connect a bunch of itty bitty links together to make chain mail?
B/X has a linear cost/AC curve. Leather: 20 gp, AC 7. Chain: 40 gp, AC 5. Plate: 60 gp, AC 3. A shield is 10 gp and gets you -1 to AC. A point of AC costs 20 gp. I like that. I also like that it's possible to start out with plate mail in B/X.
Also, 60 gp isn't that cheap considering the average starting gold in B/X is 105gp.
