Markd shines his lantern into the opened coffin. Within, you see the coffin has a copper coffin liner, now with a green patina (150lbs), tarnished silver curios and delicately fashioned silver cameos of people's faces, each about 5 inches across, (50lbs), and a golden ring set with polished green malachite stones.

Markd and Fingers:
Fingers read language [1d100] = 38

Markd and Fingers are able to read the enscriptions on the lids. These coffins are those of lesser knights. They are not of the families listed on the epitaphs on the henge above, but list their deeds of battle which distinguished them in their lives.

"Anyone wanna try on that ring?"asks Fingers. "Let's keep surveying this place before we open anything."

Bandy picks up the ring and examines it more closely to see if it has anything engraved on it or inside the band.

Bandy doesn't see any engraving on the ring and suffers no ill effects from its handling.

Markd checks again, but finds nothing further besides what they noted already in the open coffer and then the five still undisturbed ones.

The party moves ahead to the next quarter of the room at Fingers suggestion, still hugging the left-hand walls, still metered blocks of stone, many with engraved words. You pass two wooden doors about the wall's center. The stairwell remains at the center of the room, and there is another set of twelve coffins carefully arranged in the last quarter of the room. The inscriptions on them are similar to those already read.

Am I right in thinking we have only explored near the walls, not toward the center of the room?

Do we want to open any of the coffins? Or is it better to let any potential occupants continue to rest undisturbed?" asks Hengist.

NB I am not opening any of them at this point, just floating the question.

Fingers shrugs, waiting to see if Bandy tries on the ring.

"Dunno," he answers Hengist. "That ring's the only real loot we've gotten from the coffins so far, right? So I guess it depends on whether the loot is worth the risk. Maybe we should check out the doors and stuff before opening more coffins?"

The middle of the room is the spiral staircase; otherwise you've explored all four quadrants around it.

Fingers moves back toward the hallway with the hanging skeletons. He does not enter, but shines his lantern as far into the darkness as it will reach.

Fingers leads the group from the Northeast corner back to the Southwest corner of the chamber, looking through the archway and down the hallway with Markd's lantern.

The hallway is the same mitered stone, but with no writing here, just simple blocks. The hallway is 30-40 feet deep with a half-dozen skeletons shackled and hanging by their wrists along either side. There is a high quality wooden door at the end of the passage with a sturdy lock, another of the same at the far end of the right (north) wall.

"So," says Fingers. "Trap? You go down to the end of the hall, then the shackles unlock and all the skeletons attack? Or only if you flub picking the lock?" He shrugs. "Guess there's one way to find out. One of you burly types follow me and cover my back, okay?" He slowly makes his way down the hall, inspecting the floor carefully for traps as he goes.

Markd doesnt feel like opening any more knights' coffins, still unsure what causes wights to form.

Bandy follows Fingers, assuming he was included in the 'burly' types comment.

Holy symbol at the ready in case Fingers' remark about the skeletons springing to life turns out to be a premonition Hengist will follow.

Fingers makes it down the hallway, inching along as he checks for traps along its length, relieved to find none and trigger none. Bandy and Heingist follow behind him, the others remaining at the hallway's entrance. They, too, are relieved to find that the fleshless skeletons do not seem to animate in any particular way... they just hang in gristly stillness by their wrists. Fingers is now at the hallway's end, with a sturdy locked door in front of him and on his right.

Fingers checks each door and locks for traps. If he finds none, he tries to pick the locks.
