Ablesforth moves to wedge the door behind them open, Idriss moves to push it closed behind them. As Ablesforth suspects a trap, it seems Dare may be the deciding one to take a look.

A cursory inspection of the doors finds the one on the right-hand wall to be wood and swollen shut in its frame. The one on the far wall is wooden and appears unlocked. The stone door on the left wall is locked, which Idriss now recalls from his last visit. The north wall does seem damp, with a mouldy smell and supporting the growth of the shrieking mushrooms which continue their wailing, screeching noises.

Perhaps one of the kneelers have a key to this door? Idriss covers his face with a damp scarf to lessen any impact of breathing spores in and searches the bodies for a key and sacking up the described items.

Seeing the wisdom in Pendleton's words, Able continues wedging the door open. Could be he's right. Wood doors swell when there's water, and them're swelled.

One of the three wooden doors is swollen shut: just the one on the right, not the one behind you or on the far wall. None of the wooden doors are in good condition.

Ablesforth spikes open the door between your current room and the Mask and Mandala room. (-1 spike) The mushrooms continue their shrieking along the far wall of this room.

Able scratches his head. Idriss was thinking there'll be spores. Maybe we ought'n go look in the other room. The one with the blood Mandala. It's quiet fer now. If the others agree, he'll head to inspect the face on the wall. If they start chopping mushrooms, he'll stand in the hallway in case of spores.

Just when Able was beginning to think Pendleton was clever, he began to doubt it. I don't have have any. My vows are against me using pointy weapons.

For some reason that I do not know or remember Neegan has 20 silver tipped bolts but no crossbow.

:lol: That is hilarious. Folks were bringing silver weapons hoping that they will damage the infernal critters we'll be facing. I can't explain why Neegan didn't buy a crossbow though.

You had and used a crossbow last expedition. :) Perhaps you just listed it on the weapons tab and not inventory.

Idriss wades in and begins smashing the deafeningly-loud mushrooms with his staff while Ablesforth and Pendleton back out of the room for safety, standing just beyond the spiked-doorway to the mask room. The mushrooms are thick and rubbery - they do not give easily to the blows, but do emit high-pitched squeaks as air is forced through them with each whack of the bludgeon. Eventually the staff ruptures one, which splits open with an airy woosh, then falls silent. Then he ruptures another, and another.

As Idriss is finishing the last of the fungus, the din has quieted enough that the others are alerted to some commotion behind them. Pendleton and Ablesforth turn, as they're standing in the corner of the Mask and Mandala room, and in the last pale flickers of his lantern light they see almost a dozen goblins rushing across the trash room towards them. The first four carry torches and wooden buckets sloshing with fluid while those behind grin wickedly with slings and shortswords.

(Actions! Only Ablesforth and Pendleton are in proximity to see and act through the doorway into the trash room. They'll need to advance, retreat, or swap-out to make room for others to act.)

They're mid-room, you're just outside a door, so no more than 20 feet.
