Amistad picks up his barrow and trundles on, following the map and the way out.

Earc nods, picks up his barrow handles, and continues on his way after wishing the serpents a fine meal after a restful nap.

"I don't think that was a wasted spell if we can leave here completely unmolested," he thinks to himself, hoping he doesn't regret having used it before his next chance to rest.

Three more hours pass as you labor, hauling your carts out the way that you came. You pass through the chamber with the fountains and bed-nooks once more, this time Achaedany spotting a pit trap by the other entrance and ensuring that you all evade it. Eventually you come back to the place where you started, the straight shaft above you, lumpy handholds the only means of visible egress, 60' straight up.

'Blackjack' Amistad

"We have made it fine so far, let's not trip or fall at the last minute. I suggest we send the most dextrous up the shaft to pin a security rope and then we haul our cargos and ourselves out. Need a blow dart pipe as well, just in case anyone is sneaking around the top and we need to put then to sleep."

I think Akaraa is the most agile with her rogue stats, not sure. Amistad will volunteer if no one else fancies point though.

While Akkara is the quicker study, there is no doubt that Achaedany is the nimbler of the two ladies. Despite her wounds (or perhaps because of their urgency), Achaedany makers her way swiftly up the shaft, Akkara following behind to aid as they then get the laden carts and the other party members up with their ropes.

With a sigh of relief, than party finds itself once again under the sunlight along the river bank.

That's 48 hours. Anything from Olaf or Blackjack?

(...this feels like a long week.)

Earc shrugs noncommittally.

"I wouldn't be opposed to that, but let's make it back to town first and sort this haul out. Then we can figure out what happens after that."

Amistad

haul stuff out, bit by bit. Amistad happy to remain last man out to guard tunnel from surprise Morlock attacks. Must remember we are at a crossroads junction below and easily flanked. He buried some equipment by the foundations to, retireive those when out, (oil flasks, javelins, bow) and slowly haul stuff away giving a wide berth to the dryad lady however beautiful, enticing and coy she is.

Amistad reclaims his stashed goods and everyone prepared to make what time they can to get further from the Morlock hole. Achaedany remains pale, but moving under her own power (0 hp); everyone else manages their one-wheeled barrows fitfully through the thick forest undergrowth, wrangling their loads of precious metals back towards town.

It is mid-afternoon when you stumble (quite literally) into a clearing along the river bank. You are as startled as the three giant creatures in front of you - three Cyclops crouching on the bank with a full stringer of 5' long giant eels next to them. The youngest of them, a big eared lad with a tuft of red hair, stares at you slack-jawed, while the larger two emit a rumbling bass sound of surprise, distrustful as they struggle ungracefully to their feet.

(both parties surprised, only 60' apart)

Earc smiles and waves at the Cyclopes as he shrugs his pack off of his shoulders.

He grabs a small vial from a side pocket and drinks it all in one gulp. Then he points at the largest cyclops and communicates in Chaotic that we are friends and very important and powerful and not to be bothered. In fact, he and his family would probably want to help the party by carrying all of us and our belongings as far south towards Gaul as they would safely go...

OOC: Earc drinks his potion of Giant Control (Hill Giant or Cyclops)

Olaf's eyes nearly pop out of his skull when he sees Earc suggest that the cyclopes act as the party's mounts.

He takes a few steps back and does his best to look non-threatening.

No? Maybe just have them leave us alone? Seems like a waste of a good opportunity to do... something. I don't know.

would rather have them on our side,

we talked before about maybe creating some form of trade with the 'Apple of my Eye' farm and with these brutes they could also help the logging of trees. Maybe get a dozen old Gaul ladies knitting giant winter woollies for them in exchange for the overgrown apples and a share of the fish. Three allies like these on the forest fringe can only help us if we can show we mean no harm, hey maybe even you can tell them a young one eyed maiden lives across the water and you can arrange an introduction...

No, it's great. But Olaf's fight-or-flight instinct kicked in at seeing the cyclopes, so he's a bit gobsmacked that Earc is giving them tasks. :)

As both groups are initially startled, Earc steps forward confidently to take the lead. He drinks his potion, feeling the magic flow through him as he extends his will out to dominate the 20' tall creatures before him. He points at the largest cyclops and communicates in Chaotic that you all are friends and very important and powerful and not to be bothered.

The youngest cyclops continues to look dumbstruck as the two older ones react to the magic. They look befuddled for a moment, then shake their heads, clearing them. They correctly interpret Earc's body language and the now-standing largest - a bald-headed male - roars his disapproval. It is clear that he doesn't like puny people expressing their self-importance. He grabs what you thought was a fallen tree but which apparently is his club waves it threateningly. The other two rise to their feet as well, towering over you, picking up large rocks from the river bank.

(Actions!)

Olaf leaves his cart full of stupid silver where it is and runs like the dickens, hopefully in the direction of town.

Earc shrugs and tries again, this time throwing a small, hard ball of yellow clay at the large cyclops, while muttering arcane words in a hushed tone...
Earc casts Continual Light at the largest cyclops' one eye.
"Use your Morlock darts! Put them down!" he cries out after casting the spell.
